20.01.2022 Worth a read If you give a kid a basketball, they will want a hoop to go with it. Then, they will probably spend hours begging you to go out in the yard to ...play with them, even though you may want to sit on the couch and watch tv. They will insist. And their insistence will win. And when a kid gets a jersey, they will need shorts and socks and shoes to go with it. And a TEAM.. And then life as you know it will end. There will be no more lazy weekends watching tv. You will see more sunrises than you ever thought possible. Every spare minute of your time will be spent taking your child to practice for a game. THE GAME. And your house will be a mess. And your car will be dirty. All because you gave a kid a basketball. Your weekends will be spent freezing or burning to death on a chair. And their weekends will be spent gaining confidence and friends, and learning new skills and having fun. And you will be there the day they make their first goal, first foul, and their first 3 pointer . And they will make you SO proud. The other mums & dads will congratulate you. But you feel weird saying thank you because it's not you with the ball on the court. It's everything them. They did this. And right before your eyes, your little child will be transformed from the baby who spun around with their hand on the ball making their first goal (because they love attention). Because they love attention still. When you give a kid a basketball, you give them more than just a ball. You give them a sport, and talent, and hope, and dreams, and friends, a new family, a place to learn about the life, room to grow as a person where they can push their limits, and bravery, and courage and LIFE, and memories. And they will have ALL of these things, simply because you gave a kid a basketball. Because you gave a kid a basketball, you too will develop new/lifelong friendships, developed solely from the same passion for the game and love of your team. You will cheer together. Because you gave a kid a basketball. Then one day, many years from today.they will be in their room and a basketball will roll out from an old dusty bag underneath their bed. And they will pick it up and realize instantly that when you gave that kid a basketball, you also gave them a childhood that they would never forget. And then they will hug you, and your eyes may leak because you realize that everything YOU gave up along the way..was worth it! All because you gave a kid a basketball .

19.01.2022 Less than a week to go! For more information or to register please follow the link, https://bruinsbasketball.com.au/junior-develo/holiday-camps

We hope to re-open the stadium on Sunday 29th August 2021. You can obtain their email contacts from our website - https://bruinsbasketball.com.au/contact-us/ Skills & Development Classes (Bankstown) The Association would still like to hold a few weeks of classes before the end of the term, but this will be determined by the NSW Government directions on the recommencement of community sport. The Coaching Department will provide further information around class availability and costings as we get closer to the 29th August commencement date. Skills & Development Classes (Liverpool) Due to the unpredictability of a start date and the fact that it’s a brand new class we have decided to cancel both classes for term 3 and will look to re-establish these classes to commence on the 6th October 2021. Those that have registered for these classes Caitlin will be in contact to attempt to roll these registrations to the new term. Senior Competitions Since the semi finals were scheduled to be held over August it has been decided to cancel the existing competition and then start up the Winter/Summer Competition as soon as the stadium is able to recommence operation. Sharon will share further information when it becomes available. Junior Competitions The Association would still like to hold the Junior Competition this season, but a few concepts will be floated to the clubs and teams on a revised competition format to allow a make up of games and possible finals format. Christine will forward this information in the near future. Primary School Competition Due to the extension of the lockdown and lack of weeks remaining in term 3, the Primary School Competition is cancelled. The Association is hoping to recommence the new competition pending the Department of Education & NSW Government Health directive for school sport in term 4 2021. Bankstown Basketball Association AGM In consultation with Tracey Lopez (President) the AGM has been cancelled for Tuesday 31st August and rescheduled for Tuesday 28th September at 7pm to be held in the Bruins Lair at the stadium with COVID restrictions including social distancing and face masks. 06.01.2022 COVID-19 Spectators Announcement Bankstown Basketball Association acknowledges that from Monday 7th December 2020 a further easing of restrictions for indoor sp...orts facilities was announced by the NSW Government in terms of reducing the 4 square metre rule to 2 square metres which in effect allows the stadium to double it's capacity. However, due to the stadium's lack of seating, management believes it is currently too difficult to successfully adhere to the 1.5m rule of social distancing for spectators. Therefore for the remainder of 2020 our COVID safety procedures around spectator entry is as follows: - Senior Competitions - Each team is allowed 3 spectators (including the coach) per team during game time. There is an expectation that once the game is complete that all players and spectators leave the stadium within a 5 minute period. This allows staff to sanitise the stadium for the next group of teams playing. - Junior Competitions - Will continue the 1 parent per child entry and no inclusion of siblings. Players/coach only will be allowed into the stadium directly after the previous game for warm up while the stadium is being sanitised, then parent/ guardian can follow. - Casual Shooting on weekends will be increased from 20 per court up to 30 per court as of the 12th December til the stadium closes for Christmas on the 21st December. At the moment court bookings are dominating the court space which limits the access to casual shooters. Stadium Management will reassess our position in January 2021 to see if there has been further easing of restrictions and a formal announcement will be made with any modifications to our spectator access within the stadium. We appreciate the support and understanding you have shown the staff over the last 6 months while we navigated through this pandemic, which has enabled us to confidently provide you with a COVID safe environment. Regards Christian Gobolos General Manager

03.01.2022 COVID-19 Update Statement - 23/03/2020: Upon receiving the new guidelines set down by the federal government closing all public gatherings areas including sport...ing venues has now forced the Association to act accordingly to the wellbeing of our members, visitors and staff. https://www.abc.net.au//coronavirus-lockdown-what/12079242 From 12pm today, 23th March 2020 the stadium will be closed to the general public until further notice. Therefore, all casual shooting, programs and competitions have been suspended til further notice. 01.01.2022 Update on Coronavirus 25/9/20: Bankstown Basketball Association Response Dear Members, Players and Parents, In response to the State government’s announcement ...yesterday to relax spectators for community sport. Bankstown Basketball Association will take the following action: While we are certainly encouraged by the news we are conscious that the amount of space allocated internally for spectators is limited and the stadium would struggle to still adhere to the social distancing requirements of a person every 4 square metres. For the immediate future for the Junior Competition only, we will still only allow one (1) spectator per child(player) to attend the game and then immediately leave after the game is concluded. We will review this protocol once term 4 commences (12th October) and the schools return to see if further restrictions are relaxed if COVID cases remain extremely low. With Senior competitions we are still adhering to zero (0) spectators presently but when we get to finals we will review this policy again depending on the advice of the State Government and Health Organisation. We thank you for your understanding around our COVID safety procedures and the support through this period. Take care, stay safe and we’ll be in touch soon Christian Gobolos General Manager

01.01.2022 COVID GUIDELINES As per last week, the same COVID-19 Guidelines will be required. At the conclusion of all games, everyone in the stadium will be required to vacate the venue at the end of each timeslot. Once empty, players for the next timeslot will be let in along with their coaches, followed by their parents and playing siblings only. Playing siblings must remain seated at all times next to their parents. I ask that you please communicate this will all teams to prevent any... issues during the transition. Please remember to be considerate of the next timeslot. The longer it takes for us to clear the stadium, the longer it takes for the next timeslot to be allowed in. REGISTRATION / ID Please remember that this week is Week 3 of competition. Anyone who is yet to register or show ID will be removed from the court and will be unable to play. I will be in contact with teams on Wednesday to notify of any players listed on the scoresheets who need to show ID or register.
