23.01.2022 As gyms reopen it is important to make sure you ease back into it! After extended periods of rest from the Covid period it is perfectly normal to have lost strength and endurance so give your body some time to adjust to the work you are doing in the gym. Remember to begin light and slowly work your way back up and you will be back to your best in no time!

22.01.2022 Meet the Team! Ryan has recently joined the team as a Physiotherapist. Ryan completed his Bachelor of Exercise Science in 2011 and his Master of Physiotherapy in 2019 at Griffith University on the Gold Coast. From 2012 to 2018 Ryan pursued a professional basketball career both in Australia and overseas. Ryan was lucky enough to attend University in the United States on a basketball scholarship, play a season in Spain and have two years as a development player in the Austral...ian NBL. Through his sporting career Ryan has seen the difference and impact a physiotherapist can make not only in the sporting field, but to the general population, which is why he developed a passion for the industry. Ryan thoroughly enjoys helping all people and prides himself in the ability to reduce pain levels and increase functionality and physical activity. He also shares a passion for helping athletes improve their capabilities or assist in returning them to their pre-injury level of function. Ryan’s treatment methods center on manual therapy for pain relief, client based rehabilitation in the form of home exercises and long term strength and prevention work to reduce the risk of injury/re-injury. Currently, Ryan enjoys going to the gym and continues his ongoing on court basketball training in preparation for the 2021 NBL1 North basketball season. Ryan also thoroughly enjoys the outdoors and fishing in his spare time, and is hoping to start up a fishing charter business in the new year.

19.01.2022 Here's a post from our Podiatrist Lachie ! What are fully customised orthotics? At their most basic, orthotics are devices which are placed in the shoes to change the way your foot functions. A lot of people think they are simply ‘arch supports’ and that is one big function they play, but we use orthotics to help solve issues from toes to hips. When we talk about fully customised orthotics, we mean orthotics which have been made in reference to a ‘cast’ being made of your foo...t. In our case we have a 3D scanner which gives great accuracy whilst saving on mess from plaster. These orthotics are usually made from primarily a hard polypropylene shell or EVA sponge as a base but depending on where you go, everything from 3D printed plastic to carbon fibre might be used. There’s no avoiding that 3D orthotics are an investment, and not everyone needs them (there are other less and completely un-customised options available), but sometimes you need something that is built for your foot and only your foot, because there are greater restrictions to what the non-customised options can achieve. Orthotics and you You really do need to talk to your podiatrist about whether fully customised orthotics are right for you and your feet as there are many different ways to cast and a plethora of orthotic styles and construction methods. When considering orthotics though remember The podiatrist or health professional should be able to explain what they are trying to achieve with the orthotics The podiatrist or health professional should be able to explain why they recommend a customised orthotic as opposed to another option For any orthotic, a podiatrist or health professional should be able to tell you what is customised and what isn’t (remember, just fitting the correct length of orthotic and cutting it down to fit into the shoe doesn’t count as a customisation) That’s all for the moment! If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us and make an appointment to discuss orthotics or anything else foot related!

11.01.2022 Toe-Tal Podiatry offer Partial Nail Avulsions (PNAs) with phenolisation for patients with ingrown nails. - $260 for a single sulcus + $100 for each additional sulcus - 1 hour procedure and a follow up review 2-3 days later... - Unfortunately no Medicare rebates are available , however the procedure is often partially supplemented by private health. - The procedure does not require stitching or exposure of the nail matrix visually, meaning that scarring is usually minimal - Recurrence rates are low afterwards, but there still a chance of regrowth Before undertaking the surgery, we will always have at least one appointment with the patient to ensure they are appropriate candidates for the procedure as well as fully informing them about the nature of the procedure and their other options. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions or clarifications on 0422389652 or [email protected]

09.01.2022 Well deserved JB and good luck!

08.01.2022 "The Body Only Grants You the Flexibility you Deserve " We often think about muscles as being "Tight" or "Weak" but not as "Inactive" or "Switched Off" ...These "Switched Off" muscles have an effect on how the body works by making other muscles to do THEIR job!!! (These other muscles are not equipped to do this and fatigue quickly). Next time you visit our Remedial Therapist Danny why not discuss further with him the benefits of the BeActivated Technique @beactivatedbrisbane ... can you name the Colombian goalkeeper performing his famous scorpion kick ? 05.01.2022 There are numerous potential health benefits for women who exercise during and after pregnancy. After all, childbirth is often compared to a marathon and theref...ore, preparation should be considered. To coincide with #WomensHealthWeek, Vice-chair of Queensland chapter of the Womens, Mens and Pelvic Health group Brooke Dobo, APAM, and Men’s and Pelvic Health Physiotherapist Tory Toogood, MACP, contribute five evidence based practice points about the benefits of exercise during and after pregnancy. 01.01.2022 Let’s talk about Bliss Balls What is a Bliss Ball? Essentially if you have dates, coconut and nuts, you have the base of a bliss ball. Some use protein powder...s too but that’s not what I want to talk about. Bliss balls are a great way to get a lot of calories in a small amount of food. Packed with micronutrients, I’ll recommend these for; - Anyone with a high training load - An adolescent athlete trying to grow - Anyone who struggles to eat enough calories through the day Everyone else, take a wide berth. 6 little bliss balls (like the 3 in my mouth ) are equivalent in calories to a dairy milk chocolate bar. That’s a lot of hidden calories if you don’t move around too much in the day This product is not unhealthy - in fact a lot of the ones in the store are just as healthy as if you made them at home. But if you’re not looking for a way to get a heap of calories into your diet, you might want to look at something else Feeling confused? You don’t have to. Flick me a DM or book in a phone call with me in the link in my bio
