23.01.2022 Q. What does Mark Hamill and Blockbuster have in common? A. They both disappeared. Q. What does Mark Hamill and Blockbuster NOT have in common?... A. Mark Hamill made a comeback KEEP YOUR BUSINESS RELEVANT!!!!!

21.01.2022 I saw this picture recently and it made me reflect on a time when I cared a little more about how I dressed. Maybe it comes with feeling increasingly comfortable in my skin or maybe it comes with a heightened satisfaction from a savings account, rather than a trendy wardrobe. Either way I was impressed with his dedication! I wondered whether he had a blue, green and yellow ensemble in the wardrobe ready to roll out over the following days, how does he decide which colour to w...ear and how is he known among his peers? Is he the guy that always wears one block colour, is he known as ‘that guy’. This is known as congruence in marketing channels, it helps to build trust and respect on a somewhat subconscious level, through consistency. Our brains are wired to pick up on signals and most importantly inconsistencies in our environment, for us Google MD’s we use the scientific name ‘gut instinct’. Sometimes those gut messages get to our brain and we process the feeling into a thought. These thoughts if strong enough become part of a belief system and influence purchase decisions. Now what if your messages are different through marketing channels, what if customers are subconsciously picking up on inconsistencies. How is this affecting your bottom line? On a path to purchase consumers will engage 7-10 touchpoints, so ensuring your message is clear and consistent will move them through your pipeline and not the competitions. Be the guy in red!

14.01.2022 This reminds me of learning these ridiculous rules in primary school. Now there is spellcheck and a backspace button, but what about before that? Read about Bette Graham, how she solved the problem and made $48 million in 1980.... http://www.feelnumb.com///04/liquid-paper-and-the-monkees/

04.01.2022 Recently on ABC radio I listened to a show discussing innovation in Australian Science and what they are doing to facilitate growth. They talked about scientists becoming stagnate in their field of study and how individuals brought in from other sciences were offering up a fresh perspective. These perspectives are speeding up projects and promoting amazing outcomes. It left me pondering the question of why this is happening and how can it be used to create competitive advanta...ge. In the early stages of our physical and mental development we grow at an exponential rate. This is ingrained into all living creatures so that we can escape predators and acquire the skills required for survival. As we get older this slows down and the brain is no different. Synapses in the brain have now formed links, we are ingrained into physical routines and we start to work on a sort of autopilot. With an understanding of this we start to comprehend how out of the box thinking could be difficult once you are trapped in a mode of routine and how a new set of eyes can harbour creativity. It left me thinking about how I could mitigate this issue among our team and what type of thinking was required for change. I came back to reflecting upon positions I have applied for in the past and more importantly the ones I was unsuccessful. I thought about how I knew I had the skills to do a really good job, but ultimately missed out for someone who had more experience on paper. It further left me thinking whether these people with experience were trapped in routines and whether these routines would be of benefit to the business. Alternatively, would a person with a similar skill set, less experience, but an ‘elastic’ mindset be a better fit in the long term. Is there a right or wrong or is it contextual to the role and predicted outcomes? Does the mindset among recruiters reflect the quickly changing landscape of business or is there a gap to be reconciled?
