25.01.2022 Today is the first day of the COVID-19 vaccine roll out. We want to hear from healthcare providers in Victoria about your questions, concerns, motivating factors and communication needs related to COVID-19 vaccination. Never before have we undertaken a vaccine program on this scale. We know healthcare staff will be included in the first phase of vaccine rollout. We want to understand what is needed to help you and your patients make decisions about getting vaccinated. The s...urvey takes 10 minutes and can be completed anonymously. Participants can enter to win one of eight gift vouchers. This is your chance to shape the communication messages and resources developed to support the COVID-19 vaccination program in Victoria. This study is led by researchers from the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute with partners from the University of Melbourne, Monash University, The University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales. It is funded by the Victorian Department of Health. To learn more about the study and complete the survey, visit https://redcap.link/COVIDVax Please share this survey with your networks and colleagues. If you have any questions, please contact Dr Jessica Kaufman on 03 9345 4890 or [email protected].

22.01.2022 COVID-19 tipped the world on its axis - one ACIPC Board Director figured out how she could help thousands of dentists during this time of uncertainty. I picked up the phone and asked my fellow ACIPC members for help, reveals Kylie Robb, Head of Practice Services at the ADA’s NSW Branch. 03.01.2022 ACIPC are now taking enrolments for the Foundations of Infection Prevention and Control course, 4th of November intake. The ACIPC Foundations of Infection Prevention and Control course provides a valuable pathway for further learning and is an important resource for those wishing to pursue a career as an Infection Control Professional. With 11 SELF PACED modules, Foundations allows participants to apply knowledge to their own practice and is a key component to achieving the... ACIPC Primary Credential (CICP-P). The program has been designed to accommodate busy work schedules, with a series of self-directed learning units supported by a structured online curriculum. Topics include environmental hygiene, outbreak management, employee health, surveillance, epidemiology and microbiology. This course reflects recent evidence, guidelines and standards. In these exceptional times, ACIPC has taken the decision to make the Foundations of Infection Prevention and Control Course available in its entirety from the first week of the course, in an accelerated delivery mode. This means that the course could be completed in approximately 80 hours over a few weeks should the student choose, or have the time to work through the course material. The course is normally spread over about 24 weeks, and modules made available about every 2 weeks, however our online learning management system fully supports an accelerated delivery model, with all learning material available on day 1. The Course Coordinator will support students with live webinars phone and email support. New materials relating to SARS Cov 2, and COVID-19 will be included in the course. $1520 for ACIPC Members / $1820 for Non-Members Non-Members fee includes ACIPC Membership for 2020/2021 The Welcome and Introduction section of the course outlines course delivery and assessment in detail. Students are expected to write short 100-200-word discussion points on several of the modules during the course, a quiz tests core knowledge in all topic areas. The course will conclude with the submission of the final written 3000 word assignment. This course is designed to be at the AQF8 level. This means that the course is set at a similar level of complexity and expertise expected within a Graduate Certificate/Diploma program. Successful completion of this course will award a Certificate of Completion in the ACIPC Foundations of Infection Prevention and Control (FIPC) Course. While this is not a University awarded Graduate Certificate/Diploma, the ACIPC FIPC course has been recognised by Griffith University and can be credited as part of the infection prevention and control post graduate certificate. 03.01.2022 A brief message of support. The increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Victoria will have a significant impact on health services across the state. Many will require hospitalisation, including admission to intensive care. The number of cases amongst healthcare workers also means significant numbers of staff are furloughed. With this, the resources for contact tracing are in great demand. Deployment, upskilling and agility characterise day to day work. These are just some of ...the challenges our members and colleagues are facing. Whilst I know all ICPs have been working extraordinarily hard over these last few months, at this time, on behalf of all ACIPC members, I want to specifically call out to all our Victorian colleagues to let them know they have the Colleges full support. I have had many members from across Australia contact me expressing their concern and well wishes for their Victorian colleagues. Victoria is now one week in to a six-week Level 3 restriction. All of Australia is watching and hoping the numbers will turn around soon. We are all grateful for the enormous effort of our Victorian members right now. Stay safe. Phil Russo ACIPC President
