01.01.2022 Here’s how to choose your referees and prep them before they give the reference - - Before putting them forward, make sure you get their approval first. You want to make sure you get their blessing before putting their details forward. - Find a past co-worker or boss who is going to give you a glowing reference there’s a very high chance that person will be asked if they’d work with you again and you’d want that answer to be a definitive YES - Don’t pick someone who hasn’t... worked closely with you. When referees are called, they are usually asked to provide detailed accounts of abilities and skills so it’s good to have someone who worked with you on a day to day basis giving the reference. - Give your referees a heads up about the role you’re applying for and a few specifics about the kinds of tasks you’ll be performing in the new job. This will help them try to prepare responses to support your experience #tipoftheday #helpingyouhelpothers

01.01.2022 You've got a job offer on the table... now what? - First - let the employer know (nicely) that you need a bit of time before giving them an answer - When evaluating the offer, think about how the role will affect your daily routine like travel time and company culture. While salary is important, it shouldn't always be the deciding factor! - If you want to negotiate the offer, be sure to firstly thank the employer and express your excitement about the role. And keep in mind... your counteroffer might not be able to be fulfilled by the employer - When it comes time to accept the offer, go over the contract with a fine-tooth comb. If you decline the offer, thank the employer before respectfully doing so. #ACMtips #helpingyouhelpothers
