19.01.2022 When you move to the NBN, telcos must follow strict rules to ensure you are not left without a working phone or internet service. If something goes wrong during the switchover and you are left without a service for more than three working days, your telco must supply you a replacement service (unless you agree otherwise) while they sort out the problem with your new service. As the NBN rollout nears completion, telcos must continue to support consumers by following service ...continuity rules. ACMA monitors and investigates telcos suspected of breaking these rules, so households and small businesses can make a better move to the NBN. We recently found TPG, Optus, Dodo and Telstra in breach of consumer protection rules after more than 1,500 of their customers were left without telco services while trying to migrate to the NBN. Find out more about what your telco must do at: https://www.acma.gov.au/stay-connected-when-moving-nbn See more

19.01.2022 Did you know that the ACMA established Australias first Radio Quiet Zone? Back in April 2005 a remote part of Western Australia was converted to become Australias first radio-quiet zone (RQZ). The area was chosen due to a combination of its remoteness and very low levels of radiofrequency use. The RQZ helps to maintain radio-quietness in the area to make it suitable for new national and international radio astronomy projects, like the Square Kilometre Array.
