24.01.2022 ACME’s second year and awarding night The Australian Council of Multicultural Entrepreneurs, Incorporated (ACME) held its second anniversary last 28 August 2014 at the Bayview on the Park, Melbourne. The event was attended by business owners with special guests, Geoff Browne and Mark Schramm from the Office of Victorian Small Business Commission. In his welcome remark and Council Report, ACME Chairman and President of the Executive Committee, Fred Jover reported that at 30 Ju...ne 2014, the council’s finance is in the black and thanked the group’s successful application for community grant from Australia Post, to set up a web-based directory of small businesses owned and operated not only by ACME members, but anyone from various multicultural communities of Victoria. The directory has been set up and currently data uploading is work-in-process. This is also linked to ACME’s website, www.acmei.org. ACME’S second year anniversary was doubly significant due to the inaugural launch of the 2014 Awards recognising member entrepreneurs for their outstanding performance in their respective area of commerce, their benefit and service to the community, and their commitment and support as ACME members. The winners of the 2014 ACME Awards were: Virginia Kalong, Entrepreneur of the Year; Migrant Hub c/o Walter Villagonzalo, Social Enterprise of the Year; Liz Honey Productions, Community Entertainment and Event Enterprise; Kabayan Restaurant and Asian Grocery c/o Jocy and Ding Gonzales, Community Restaurant and Grocery of the Year and Tablea Café c/o Leonardo Geronimo, Small Entertainment and Business Venue and Café of the Year. Two new members of ACME, Nena Parinas, an Accountant and Tax agent, served as emcee while Beth Sockett was the night’s host. For further details on ACME membership and events, please visit www.acmei.org, email: [email protected] or call/text Fred Jover on 0403944479.
