25.01.2022 Today I visited the Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) Dandenong unit to do the annual test and tag of the electrical appliances they use in their response operations. ACME has been a supporter of this unit for 5 years as part of our way to recognise of the enormous combined contribution VICSES makes to the Victorian community and the fantastic job the volunteers do week in, week out, often in very difficult circumstances. read full article... https://acmett.com.au/customer-feature-april-2019-vicses/ Check out their facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/greaterdandenongses/

23.01.2022 Can You Spot The Defect? Yes, even our own equipment can fail a basic inspection and needs to be checked on a regular basis due to the ongoing use, wear and tear it experiences. This was the lead on one of appliance testers. Felt like a police office issuing a RWC on their own patrol car. Quick fix and it back in service.... #fails #failedappliance #asnzs3760 #acmetestandtagging #testandtagging #testtag #testandtag #tagtesting #leadtesting

16.01.2022 Yes, we are still open for test and tagging service! Are your appliances coming due or overdue for retesting and you arent sure what to do? Dont worry, our test and tagging service is still open for business as usual. Well, not exactly as usual. We have had to change a few aspects of what we do on-site in regard to implementing social distancing and safe hygiene strategies.... The common question we are getting asked is along the line of Do I still need to have the appliances retested if theres no one in the office / on-site?. There are a few elements you need to consider when deciding whether it is a good time to have the retesting done or not; ....more info https://acmett.com.au/test-and-tagging-services-as-usual/

13.01.2022 It happened again last week. I was "advised" the testing procedure I use was wrong and would damage the appliance(s). This type of conversation has occurred many times over the last 11 years I have been running ACME Test and Tagging so it wasnt something new or unexpected. Rather than get defensive when being challenged, it always presents a great opportunity to dispel some of the myths and misinformation that is "out there" about testing and tagging... and believe me there...s a lot of them thanks to the internet. In this instance my client was worried the electrical testing would destroy the mother boards and corrupt the hard drives of their computers. This was despite my having already checked about 30 of their computers and all were still working fine. FACT: By following the correct test procedures the risk of damaging the appliance is so minor it is not worth even considering. Ive personally tested and tagged 400,000+ appliances and Im unaware of a single instance where the electrical testing method I use has caused any damage to the appliance. Lets play Myth Busters - Share what youve heard about the possible "dangers" of testing and tagging and I will either confirm it as Myth, Plausible or Busted. Or you can ask a question and I will do my best to answer it.
13.01.2022 Here is a common defect we find with tradie flood lights. These are fairly cheaply made flood lights and the housing for the junction box can easily be damaged. A defect like you can see in this photo is an automatic fail because of the potential dangers it presents to the user and other people. Keep in mind the junction box housing must be weather proof and prevent water (and rain) from entering the appliance. Its always worth spending a few moments to do a visual check of your appliance before using it. #fails #failedappliance #asnzs3760 #acmetestandtagging #testandtagging #testtag #testandtag #tagtesting #leadtesting
