25.01.2022 What and who would you be if you had no fear? I love how nature is never afraid to go through the seasons, to change, to bloom to drop its leaves etc .........l look at this gorgeous crab apple blossom (my ABSOLUTE favourite of ALL blossoms) and l’m reminded how it bursts into full bloom.......with no fear.......that soon the flowers will go and the cycle will continue....... birth, growth, full bloom, harvest, decay, death, rebirth. It reminds me and inspires me to drop fear, be present in the moment and to allow myself to bloom. If you need support around dropping fear and allowing yourself to bloom l’m here for you! #acornandoak_apothecary #dropfear #allowyourselftobloom #theworldneedsyourvision #seasonalcyclesofnature

24.01.2022 Stress activates the adrenal glands to release adrenaline and cortisol. High cortisol can induce weight gain around the back of arms, abdomen and back, hair loss , dandruff or hair thinning and can lower immunity. But that's not all... high cortisol can also effect our sex hormones, oestrogen and progesterone which play major roles in a regular menstrual cycle and healthy fertility (which is important for everyone, not just those trying to conceive). Cortisol is made from pro...gesterone. Our body supports us through prioritising our survival (stress) over our thrival (reproduction). If we're chronically stressed or have experienced trauma, our body is continuously communicating to us that we need more cortisol to keep us alive. When that happens, you may notice symptoms of low progesterone like: a premenstrual phase of less than 10 days, spotting during premenstrual phase, insomnia, anxiety and difficulty focusing before menstruation, water retention and excess bloating and mood swings. If you want to bring your hormones, your cycle and your life back into balance please reach out to us! #WombWednesday See more

20.01.2022 On September 27th, Mercury entered Scorpio, inviting us into the depths of our minds. The purpose of this transit is to deepen our perception of the world around us, of other people and ourselves. The journey of Mercury through Scorpio is going to be interesting this year. Mercury will station retrograde on October 13 or 14, according to your timezone. Mercury will be in Scorpio for a longer time frame than usual: the lessons of this transit will be deep and powerful and they have the potential to change our perspective of reality completely. #MoondayMonday

15.01.2022 Sip your way to better health with our Citrus Berry Blast herbal tea. This is a sweet and zesty blend that is delicious either hot or cold! The chosen herbals are rich in antioxidants as well as immune enhancing. Elderberry has been used for hundreds of years to fight upper respiratory infections and boost immunity. It supplies the body with antioxidants and is so brilliant at boosting it’s natural immune response. Hibiscus is high in vitamin C - a strong antioxidant that we ...know is responsible for keeping our immune systems healthy. It is also high in iron which keeps the immune system balanced and helps the body to maintain red blood cells. Rosehip has a high concentration of vitamin C which consequently stimulates the production of lymphocytes - protectors from infection. It also enhances the function of lymphocytes and helps maintain your skins protective barrier against outside pathogens. Lemon myrtle works beautifully by boosting the immune system and helps to keep colds and flus at bay. It’s flavour profile is wonderful in this tea! #TeaTimeTuesday

13.01.2022 Glow From Within is one of our most popular herbal tea blends. This herbal combination works to remove metabolic waste from the liver, kidneys and skin whilst calming the digestive system to improve overall skin complexion. Licorice has been used for many years as a general body tonic, which is one of the many reasons why this herb is utilised in this blend. It aids digestive processes by soothing inflammation in the stomach and intestines. Peppermint has excellent antispas...modic actions, calming and soothing the entire length of the digestive tract. Cinnamon balances blood sugar levels. It is a carminative, which is warming to the digestive tract. Blue cornflower is rich in vitamin C, folic acid and other organic compounds that help detoxify the body. Spearmint is high in antioxidants and can relieve symptoms associated with gastric upset. 09.01.2022 The microbes in our environment - the soil, the foods and our bodies all change seasonally so naturally, the harvests of each season produces food that nourishes us most. In winter months, we need more sustenance, foods that reflect the slower, downward energy that we usually feel - like root vegetables for example. In spring/summer, we don’t need such a heavy diet, and foods that are in season like fruits and leafy greens mirror that. It’s normal for us to have access to ev...ery type of fruit and vegetable all year round, so it’s easy to forget about the energetics of our foods - the actual qualities and effects of what we should be eating during different seasons. Eating raw foods in the colder months can easily create imbalances within us, even if they’re considered healthy foods. They’re cold and light, the same as the external environment, so too much of the same created excess internally. Consuming lots of heavily spiced or oily foods in summertime has the same effect, as those heating, expansive qualities, are what’s already most present around us at that time of year. Eating food that’s in season, local and fresh is not only good for you, it’s also good for the planet and our local farming communities. #ThriveThursday See more

08.01.2022 Aside from providing an aesthetic appeal, which contributes to the overall pleasure and feeling of wellbeing, roses has great practical use in our regimens of good health. The use of rose is far and varied. It has a long history in the use of folk remedies, especially in the area of skin care. It has a tonic and astringent effect on the capillaries just below the skin surface, which makes it useful in diminishing the redness caused by large capillaries. Rose also offers a soo...thing property to the nerves and emotional/psychological state of mind. It is regarded as a mild sedative and anti-depressant. It is increasingly used in treatments for conditions of stress: nervous tension, peptic ulcers, heart disease, among others. There is indication that rose essence may also positively influence digestion, bile secretion, womb disorders and circulation. We use rose in a number of our teas including balancing beauty, celebrate, comfort, Moroccan rose and mumma to be #PowerOfHerbs See more

07.01.2022 Searching for your soul implies that it is not within you already, that you have to go out and find your intrinsic self. But as humans who are made up of energy, we are born with a soul that is never lost, thus can never be searched for or found. Your body is made up of energy. Some times energy is at full capacity - you feel joy, happy, content, fulfilled, satisfied. But at other stages of your life, the energy you feel is less than full capacity, a quarter of what you know your soul has the potential to be. Change the dialogue. Don't search for what is already within you. Rather, search for experiences that will naturally charge your soul. #ThriveThursday

05.01.2022 We want to guide you to normalise the natural period cycle. We want to celebrate your period, instead of encouraging you to take a synthetic pill so you don't have to bleed... a pill to make your body's natural cycle less inconvenient. A pack of pads thrown at our face, a humongous tampon given without explanation and a box of pills is often the only direction many of us had. We want to tell you all the things you deserve to hear on your first bleed. By honouring your cycle - eating for it, moving for it, meditating for it, you can not only accept your cycle, but THRIVE with it. If you are experiencing any issues with your menstrual cycle, don't be a stranger! Reach out #SelfAwarenessSaturday

03.01.2022 The use of tumeric dates back nearly 400 years to the Vedic culture in India, where it was used as a culinary spice and had some religious significance. Today, tumeric is wildly cultivated in the tropics. Tumeric is thought to have many medicinal properties including strengthening the overall energy of the body, relieving gas, dispelling worms, relieving menstruation, dissolving gallstones and relieving arthritis. It is used as an anti-inflammatory agent and as a remedy for gastrointestinal discomfort associated with irritable bowel syndrome and other digestive disorders. #PowerOfHerbs

02.01.2022 Join Lauretta and l tomorrow evening at 7:30 whilst we chat about how naturopathy can prevent as well as treat/support postnatal depletion. Posted @withregram @ballaratborn_midwifelauretta Postnatal Depletion My next Mumma Thrive - InstaLIVE is this Wednesday the 18th @ 7:30pm AEDT, with the lovely Katherine Knott.... Kath is a mama to four beautiful children, a Naturopath who specialises in Women’s health and owner of the wonderful @acornandoak_apothecary We are talking about postnatal depletion, it’s a really Important topic and not just for those with newborns but to all Mum’s regardless of how ‘postnatal’ you are. It is a physical and mental deterioration caused not just by the process of giving birth and breastfeeding, but by the stresses and strains of modern parenthood. Dr Oscar Serralach @droscarserrallach is a GP who specialises in helping women in this area and has written a book on the topic - The Postnatal Depletion Cure: A Complete Guide to Rebuilding Your Health and Reclaiming Your Energy for Mothers of Newborns, Toddlers, and Young Children. Serrallach describes it as a syndrome of accumulated issues including deep fatigue, hyper-vigilance and a feeling of being overwhelmed. This depletion can lead to poor immune function and poor gut health for years after we give birth. I think these symptoms of postnatal depletion are some that every modern mother could identify with. He also explores the lack of support around modern mothers and the way our systems and culture are lacking in a broader sense and how we need to change things on a societal level.... I couldn’t agree more. Kath and I are going to explore this topic in depth on Wednesday and I’d love to see you there - if you can’t make it you can watch or listen back like a podcast on my IGTV. I’d love to know if you’ve heard of it before? Let me know below and as always send me any questions you have. Xx Lauretta

01.01.2022 Rich, healthy blood is fundamental for a healthy menstrual cycle, fertility, and holding a pregnancy as it is needed for building an endometrial lining that nourishes an implanted egg. It is becoming more rare that we see women with sufficient iron levels due to the fact we loose blood each month. For this reason it is so important to consciously include blood building, iron-rich foods in your diet. Enjoy organic, hormone-free slow cooked meats, liver pâté, dates, beans, legumes, egg yolk, spirulina, dark green leafy vegetables and beetroot. #WombWednesday
