20.01.2022 What do you know about your family, your parents, your grandparents , and even further back? What do they remember about their lives, the family members they knew, where they lived... 18.01.2022 Do you have a convict in your family? If so, you could be considered fortunate, because the lives of convicts, once they were brought to trial and transported to Australia, are well documented. Court transcripts, details of the hulks and ships, their lives in Australia, and so on, can be found for many of those transported, as the Government made a great effort to document every detail. From my observation, perhaps the convicts were actually fortunate. If they survived the trip to Australia, they had the opportunity to make a new life for themselves and their families. They may have left slums, unsanitary conditions, and unemployment behind; many convicts became successful farmers, business people and Government officials, things they couldn't have dreamed of in their native lands.

07.01.2022 To introduce myself, my name is Kerstin Fraser, and I have been involved in family research for many years. I am interested in our ancestors, where they lived and what they did. Some are well known , others less so, but they all make up the fabric of our families and our communities. Apart from extensive research experience, I have also completed a Diploma of Family History through the University of Tasmania.
