24.01.2022 The plays of Conor McPherson demand that a storyteller be heard and that storytellers acknowledge their words exist in a social space. This makes for a fascinat...ing performance proposition for actor Craig Alexander in his role of The Critic and for YOU his audience in our live streaming performance of St Nicholas. June 5-7 2020. 24.01.2022 "Well there’s a moment involving a dog collar, a leash and a cell phone that is a profound meeting of choice and desire for Thomas that sentence will only mak...e sense when you see the play" Actor Craig Alexander is taking on the dual roles of Thomas Novacheck and his fictional creation Herr Severin von Kushemski in our upcoming work Venus in Fur. He's on the couch for this week's street talk... https://thestreetcbr.wordpress.com//getting-to-know-craig/

19.01.2022 Looking for a last minute christmas gift? How about a couple tickets to a creepy tale about bloodlust, vampires and theatre critics ... Excited to announce I'll be tackling Conor McPherson's chilling vampire monologue, St Nicholas next year. Under the talented direction of Shelly Higgs, joined onstage by the inimitable muso Den Hanrahan, with Christopher Samuel Carroll ensuring my Dublin accent sounds like a Dublin accent, and, of course The Street Theatre (Theadore Street) supporting in a myriad of ways - it's going to be an exceptional experience. www.saintnicholas.com.au for more details...

15.01.2022 Together Alone: Where Street Art meets The Street / The Sign-Off Videographer Craig Alexander was asked to creatively respond to an aspect of The Street’s Toget...her Alone Street Art project. Drawing upon his love of film, dirty Westerns, grand guignol and face-off’s he chose a tongue-in-cheek look at the moment where the ‘go’ is given to the design. Luke Cornish (elk) was commissioned by The Street to work on street art project Together Alone - a large-scale street art work that talks to the COVID experience of The Street and the place we work - Canberra's City West cultural precinct. This project is made possible by an City Renewal Canberra grant.

15.01.2022 I'm not #evil just #misunderstood ... Playing with #lighting for a #selftape makes it a little more #fun - although maybe next time I will #iron my #shirt ...

15.01.2022 #2020 is gonna be #bloody #fun - new project details coming soon...

15.01.2022 A few highlights from our recent production of St Nicholas - streamed live from @The Street Theatre. Combining our film and theatre making skills to craft something a little different. Had a ball working with this talented team. Can't wait to share it with a live audience in the future!

14.01.2022 After ten months in the making from first conception to final signing we can say this creating-making part of Together Alone is complete. For those who cannot v...isit our site in person get ready for THE BIG REVEAL. Commissioned by The Street to respond to the impact of COVID pandemic on our company, Canberra’s cultural sector, and community, in April 2021 Luke Cornish @ELK went to work on the wall a red brick façade of The Street covering 175 square metres. Working with assistant Dan Maginnity (@byrd) it took 4 weeks to prepare then paint the wall. This project is made possible by a City Renewal Canberra grant. Videography by Craig Alexander and Creswick Collective.

06.01.2022 To help #casting out with the upcoming #marvel #feature being shot in #sydney here's an artist's impression of me as a #superhero - in this case Dr Strange but as a good #character #actor totally okay with an alternate #hero or #villain - just sayin...you know if you wanna cast local...don't make me beg...please

06.01.2022 Some nice words about our experiment in digital theatre on the weekend. Looking forward to putting this show in front of an "actual in the room" live audience, but that said, I'm so very proud of the unusual performance hybrid the team created this time around - uniquely live theatre for the internet.

06.01.2022 "I don’t think you can look at it in quite the same way as theatre that’s performed in the same room as the audience. This show will be theatrical, yes. But it... will also be cinematic; utilising framing, angles and composition to help convey the story." St Nicholas Director Shelly Higgs is right in the thick of juggling camera angles, smart lights, actor Craig Alexander, musician Den Hanrahan and a funny dark theatre tale. Open 5 June. See more

05.01.2022 We made this little horror/thriller with my children on New Years Eve, inspired by the amazing work of Greta Thunberg and School Strike 4 Climate whilst terrifi...ed by the world's leaders inaction on the global catastrophe we are all facing; it's a horror fan's creative response, I suppose... I'm sharing it today as my way of supporting all the young people out there fighting to save the world... it's creepy, a little scary but then nothing like what we are facing...check it out and share it around if you feel so inclined...
