23.01.2022 Its just wonderful to see Senator Alex Gallacher and the Australian federal Parliamentary Friends of Road Safety group being highlighted as a prime example of political leadership, providing powerful, unbiased leadership and support for road trauma reductions - beyond political and party allegiances, & pushing the much broader elimination agenda. The group in Australia consists of 40+ federal politicians across all parties, and is a vital and powerful force in our work Towards Zero.

23.01.2022 It was wonderful for ACRS CEO Claire Howe to catch up with Senator Glenn Sterle & Senator Alex Gallacher, Deputy Speaker Llew OBrien MP & others today at Australias Parliament House - all recognised #RoadSafety leaders. (Still no public access at APH so it was looking very empty - great for parking though!)

22.01.2022 Today is World Day of Remembrance for Road Trauma Victims - 1.3M Deaths & many, many, MANY MORE Serious Injuries worldwide. Its vital we take this one day to reflect on these incomprehensible statistics. In Australia alone we have 1,200 deaths & 40,000 serious injuries every year - and each & every one is violent, traumatic, & so devastating to so many mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, extended families, workplaces, first responders, friends & n...eighbours.... One By One they happen. One By One they take their enormous toll. The conference Organising Committee, Claire and the team from the Australasian College of Road Safety, Nick, David & the 100+ team from Austroads, the 50 editors, 100+ reviewers, and Shanna, Amy and the team from Premier Event Concepts, all did a wonderful job. Were really looking forward to sharing the photos which reflect the buzzy feel of the conference, the breadth of stakeholders engaged and acting at all levels to reduce trauma, and the vast amount of work taking place to support best outcomes. 21.01.2022 It was wonderful for ACRS CEO Claire Howe to catch up with ACRS Patron His Excellency David Hurley, Governor-General of Australia, at Canberras Government House earlier today. It was a perfect chance to talk all things road safety including the shocking $30b+ annual cost of road trauma in Australia, 40,000 injuries p/yr and rising,1,200 fatalities, and especially the great work the College and our many members are doing to support trauma reductions. The College was very gra...teful to be joined by Peter & Judy Frazer from the SARAH Foundation, ACRS Vice-President Eric Chalmers, Jo Wilson-Ridley from Queanbeyan-Palerang Council, and Tracey Norberg from Goulburn Shire Council. A favourite part of the day? Definitely chatting to our Patron as well as meeting His Excellencys lovely wife Mrs Linda Hurley. An impromptu rendition of You are my sunshine, my only sunshine by Peter and Mrs Hurley capped off a perfect day, perfectly. So special. So much work to do, and we are so appreciative of the support of our Patron - we are very lucky

21.01.2022 Today, I once again spoke in the Senate about Road Safety. While we are still killing our fellow Australians on our roads, I will keep saying in the Senate tha...t all Governments need to do more!!! We are supposed to be reducing road fatalities, however in my home state so far this year - we have seen an increase of fatalities of 73.3%.
