25.01.2022 ACSA were proud to hold our 2nd AGM in Melbourne yesterday and thankful for the Members who attended in person or via video conference link Many fruitful discussions ensued for our direction moving forward:-) ACSA - The Peak Body for Australian Cheer & Dance

25.01.2022 Great article on how parents impact upon their childrens participation in sport Key points for Gym/Studios are - - "For all segments, a key motivating factor for sport participation is the opportunity of a free trial by the club. This can address concerns some parents have about committing time and money to a sport club before being sure that it will suit them and their children."... - "The Family focused segment, whose priorities are activities that fit in with family time, may be inclined to join a club if it offers flexible, family friendly options and clear information about what commitment is required." - "As the name suggests, the Child focused segment is strongly driven by the child. Parents in this segment are motivated to have a child join club sport if their child will primarily enjoy it and secondly will learn values such as teamwork and responsibility" - Barriers (children) Wrong age (too old/young) for available activities is the primary barrier for children up to 8 years. For children 9-14 years the main barriers are: Dont like sport/PA Not enough time/too many other commitments Cant afford it/transport ***** "Parents have a unique opportunity to help their children develop life-long engagement and enjoyment with sport and physical activity. The behaviour of many adult figures (coaches, teachers, extended family, etc.), as well as peers and siblings, play an important role in influencing a childs behaviour. However, parents above all remain the enduring role models that their children use as a basis for their own development. Parents who actively enable their childs sport and physical activity can offer encouragement and supportthat is, financial, practical and psychological support. This plays a significant role initiating and sustaining a childs sports participation and positive mindset towards maintaining physical fitness through life." https://www.clearinghouseforsport.gov.au//engaging_parents

24.01.2022 ACSA FRAMEWORK FOR RESUMPTION OF ALL STAR CHEER AND DANCE A big thank you to our amazing All Star Cheer and Dance community for your support and cooperation through these challenging times. We have definitely played our role to help flatten the curve. You have likely heard about the exciting progress made to reboot sport in Australia and may have read the framework produced by the Australian Institute of Sport and endorsed by the Australian Government.... As there is no current National Sporting Organisation recognised by the Australian Government, there was no reference to All-Star Cheer and Dance in these documents. ACSA, in its role as Peak Body has used this framework and made it applicable to our community. It also includes a Hygiene Policy and other recommended measures to ensure a safe transition back to training. https://australiancheersportalliance.com.au//acsa-framewor These have already been sent to our Club and EP Members and are now excited to release them to the wider community. As of today, 8th May, we are currently in Level A. Stay tuned, as it is hoped that Scott Morrison or State Premiers, will soon provide further information on timings as to when each State can progress onto Level B. We are excited to see the light at the end of the tunnel and look forward to the safe return of All-Star Cheer and Dance.

24.01.2022 As many of you will be aware the NSW and Victorian State Governments will be ordering a shutdown of non-essential services over the next 48 hours. This will include cheer gyms and dance studios in these States. The NSW and Victorian Premiers have advised they will provide further information tomorrow (Monday 23rd) Please refer to your State Government websites for the latest and official information. The ACSA COVID-19 guidelines have been updated here: https://australianche...ersportalliance.com.au//acsa_covid-19 ACSA has engaged an employment lawyer to seek further guidance on the implications on staff and will provide this to Gym and Studio Owners as soon as it is available. We are also working on further support materials to help gyms and studios. We urge everyone to adhere to the Australian and State Government advice as well as support each other through this unprecedented situation. 23.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE - SOUTH AUSTRALIA COACHES South Australia has introduced stronger, more effective, and transparent screening laws for people working or volunteering with children. The new laws mean that, from 1 July 2019, everyone working or volunteering with children must have valid child-related screening.... These changes were recommended as part of South Australian and federal royal commissions, to help keep children safe in our communities. The new working with children check (WWCC) that is being introduced from 1 July 2019 replaces the current system, where people can have either a Department of Human Services (DHS) child-related employment screening, or a National Police Certificate assessed by their employer/volunteer-involving organisation. Key changes include: WWCCs replace all other types of child-related employment screening checks. people can apply for their own WWCC, to help them be job-ready organisations can no longer use National Police Certificates for people working or volunteering with children. Only the South Australian Department of Human Services (DHS) Screening Unit can do a WWCC. a WWCC is valid for five years and is portable across organisations and roles in South Australia . There will be transitional arrangements to make it easier for people to move to the new scheme. All current, valid DHS/DCSI childrelated employment screening clearances will be recognised as WWCCs under the law, until they expire. Certain industries will have staggered entry times to the new scheme, to help them transition smoothly. National Police Certificates assessed by organisations are valid for working with children until 1 July 2020. For most people working or volunteering with children, the transitional arrangements mean they dont need to do anything to be ready for the new laws starting on 1st July 2019 You can continue using your current, valid DHS/DCSI child-related employment screening until it expires. When it is time to renew it, you will need to apply for a new working with children check. Dont leave it until the last minute allow at least six weeks for processing your application. You can apply for a new check up to six months before your current one expires. More information available https://screening.sa.gov.au//new-working-with-children-che

22.01.2022 he 2020 Worlds Championship Event Date Change 08/26/2019 5:45 PM - From the U.S. All Star Federation and the International All Star Federation regarding The Cheerleading and Dance World Championship... Were looking forward to 2020. Circumstances outside of our control have necessitated a slight adjustment of the dates of The Cheerleading and Dance Worlds for 2020. Worlds will take place on April 24, 25 and 26. The location remains at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL The Cheerleading & Dance Worlds 2020 Date Change FAQ Why is there a date change for The Cheerleading and Dance Worlds? The International Cheer Union is slightly changing their event date due to a scheduling conflict with important international meetings. That change is causing the USASF and IASF to slightly change their event date for The Cheerleading and Dance Worlds to avoid event overlap at Walt Disney World. What are the dates of the ICU World Championships? To avoid a scheduling conflict with important international meetings, the 2020 ICU Worlds Championships will change their event date to April 27, 28 and 29. Will this be the schedule for the following year At this time, we are only aware that it is a one-time change to the schedule http://usasf.net/news/?article_id=93

22.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS - COVID-19 We understand peoples concern given the potential seriousness of the situation, but ask our community not to panic, and instead listen to evidence-based, real-time advice of health professionals and government officials. With the current global situation evolving around Coronavirus (COVID-19), ACSA have developed guidelines for best practice hygiene, sterilisation and infection minimisation which has been distributed to our studio/gym owners to assis...t them in taking maximum measures to mitigate the risk to our athletes, families and staff members. This includes 1. Isolation Protocols 2. Equipment / Area Sterilisation 3. Practice good hygiene/hand sterilisation 4. Food and drink As we move through the uncertain times in the weeks ahead it is paramount our community keeps our communication lines open between athletes/families and studios/gyms to understand what is being done to to ensure their collective wellbeing. While coronavirus is of concern, it is important to remember that unless there is an imminent threat of exposure in your area, most people displaying symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat or tiredness are likely suffering from a cold or other respiratory illness not coronavirus. https://www.health.gov.au//coronavirus-covid-19-what-you-n It may also be beneficial to note what pandemic actually means now that the WHO has declared COVID-19 as a pandemic. The fear is that the public will now see that as being more dangerous than what the term actually means. So what is a pandemic, exactly? The classical definition doesnt consider the severity of the disease. Its more about geography, specifically denoting a disease that spreads globally and infects a large number of people. A widespread yet relatively mild illness, therefore, could still be classified as a pandemic whereas in contrast, an endemic disease is isolated to a particular area, and an epidemic is a sudden increase in the number of cases in that area.

21.01.2022 The National Cabinet has endorsed a set of principles for the return of elite and community sport. ACSA is reviewing these and developing a roadmap to the safe return of dance and cheer training & events. https://www.pm.gov.au//attacha-national-principles-resumpt... In addition, they have endorsed the AIS Framework for rebooting sport in a Covid-19 environment https://www.pm.gov.au//attachb-ais-framework-rebooting-spo In the meantime, we remind everyone to follow the current Government advice in their State, so we can all work together to bring the cheer and dance back into the community.

21.01.2022 IASF 2020/2021 RULE CHANGES The IASF have advised that Australia (Season 2 country) will continue to utilise the 2019/2020 IASF Rules for the next year. We thank the IASF for listening to our communities concerns and wishes .... We (the IASF) have decided, with respect to the Season 2 Countries who have already had their tryouts for next season, to remove the new 2020-21 rules and will continue to use the 2019-20 IASF Rules for the next year. The timing of the release of the new rules was not ideal for Season 2 Countries and there is nothing in the IASF 2019-20 rules that have caused an imminent safety situation that needs to be immediately addressed. This will also give us additional time to re-evaluate the rules and take all of your suggestions into consideration."" https://www.facebook.com/groups/IASFworlds/

19.01.2022 IASF 2020/2021 RULE CHANGES Many of our coaches would be aware that earlier today the IASF released the 2020-2021 rules, which can be found here http://www.iasfworlds.com///IASF-2020-21-Rules-Final-1.pdf. ACSA is aware there has been quite a bit of conversation and reaction to these rule changes, and appreciate many clubs have already held 2020 team placements. ... As such ACSA is seeking feedback from the community. This feedback has two objectives. Firstly to determine which rules should be used for the 2020 cheerleading season, and secondly to gather feedback that ACSA can use for its communication with the IASF on behalf of the Australian Cheerleading Community. ACSAs members being ALL THINGS CHEER (ATC) AUST CHEER ELITE (ACE) AUSSIE GOLD AUST ALL STAR CHEERLEADING FEDERATION (AASCF) CHEER UNLIMITED AUST SPIRIT INDUSTRIES CHEERCON INFINITE SPIRIT ALL STARS are in the process of distributing the survey to our Gym Owners & Coaches seeking replies no later than Midday (AEDT) Friday 13th December. 15.01.2022 This COVID-19 crisis will eventually pass and all need time to work our way through it It is vitally important that we care and support for each other at this time and remember that our sport is passionately run by gyms which are small businesses so lets support them through this crisis as much as we can so your children will still have a gym to go to on the other side Life must go on as best we can so be careful, be kind and do not panic

15.01.2022 Firstly, thank you all for complying with the Government Order, and prior to this, the wonderful effort you all put in to follow the stricter hygiene guidelines. The cheer and dance community is certainly doing its part to flatten the curve. As ACSA understands the situation: * The Prime Minister and National Cabinet decreed a closure of non-essential businesses. This will be enacted through the State Government Orders (See below for those available)... * As this is an unprecedented situation that is rapidly evolving there is a lack of clarity over the interpretation of these orders. * ACSA is working to get further clarification from the Government on the following topics, and we have listed ACSAs current interpretation of the order beside it: * Are Cheerleading Gyms and Dance Studios considered Indoor Sporting Venues? ACSAs current understanding is that Cheerleading Gyms and Dance Studios are considered Indoor Sporting Venues and fall under this order * Are there any exceptions to the above based on the building size or participant numbers? ACSAs current understanding is that there are no exceptions based on the club/studios specific make-up * Is training outdoors allowed? To quote the Prime Ministers media release These measures also apply to outdoor spaces associated with the above venues. * ACSA is also seeking clarification on what these orders mean for virtual classes, 1:1 training and other business operations. Yesterday ACSA emailed a pack to EPs, Gym and Studio Owners that outlines the implications of the closure and information about how to keep your business running during this difficult period. We hope it was useful, and we will be updating it regularly when news comes to hand. Thank you again for all of your hard work. Our hearts go out to everyone in our amazing community. We will all work together through this crisis, so we can come out stronger when our gyms and studios can reopen to normal activites. We also encourage you to remain vigilant in your own health and hygiene and continue to listen to the medical professionals and government authorities. 15.01.2022 ACSA has heard some dance studios have been advised that they may continue operating. ACSA has taken the position that Cheer Gym and Dance Clubs will fit into the definition of Gyms and Indoor Sporting venues. If you are considering remaining open, we strongly suggest that you call your State Health Department to confirm if your facility meets their definition of an Indoor Sporting Venue.... You should only consider opening if you have received written official Government advice that it is ok to do so, and you will still need to abide by all social distancing and gathering requirements (can refer to ACSA COVID-19 recommendations). Bear in mind each State is finalising the details of their legislation so the situation is still evolving and again we caution that you do not open without written confirmation that you are allowed to. ACSA will shortly be sending out (via EPs) a resource which provides advice to Gym and Studio Owners on how to maintain business continuity during this difficult time

14.01.2022 Proud to see that ACSA has been included as one of the Concussion in Sport Australia HIGH PERFORMANCE partners :-) https://concussioninsport.gov.au/partners

13.01.2022 As many of you will have heard Scott Morrison just addressed the Nation. ACSA will be following up further clarification on the allowance of Boot Camps / Personal Training for groups of 10 or less. Also we will seek the further information on social and sporting activities that was prefaced to come later in the press conference ACSA has been advised by the Prime Minister and Cabinets office that the full statement will be available tonight and further information tomorro...w. We will work as hard as we can to find these answers, as we appreciate the difficulty of extra uncertainty at an already uncertain time. As always, we recommend everyone to follow the advice of the Government and Medical authorities both at a business level and in your daily lives. Take care everyone. 08.01.2022 20/3/20 CLARIFICATION RE SOCIAL DISTANCE GUIDELINES There is some confusion surrounding the Dept Of Health notice today regarding guidelines for Indoor Gatherings and about density calculations. General Population Indoor Gatherings... - In a given occupied space, there must be a density of no more than one person per four square metres of floor space. Gyms and indoor fitness activities - Settings like gyms and indoor fitness centres are not required to close at this time providing they meet these requirements for social distancing and hand hygiene. Such venues should take actions to ensure regular high standards of environmental cleaning take place. How do gyms interpret this information? Following the ACSA Social Distancing Guidelines should keep gyms within all current criteria requirements. Below is a 4 step guide: 1. Calculate maximum capacity allowed in your facility based on your facility size. Find out the square metre size of your venue (indoors) and divide it by 4. For example: If your indoor venue space is 300m2, then your absolute maximum capacity is 75 people. This must adhere to the 100 person limit. Note: Maximum capacity is a general guide on numbers. Where you can reduce people within your facility, do so. The less number of people in the one space at the one time, the lower the risk. 2. Adhere to social distancing criteria (1.5 metre per person). Ensure that you can adequately adhere to social distancing criteria within your facility. It is likely that when considering social distancing criteria, your capacity calculation will be less. 3. Give consideration to your venue specifics and how you can achieve appropriate social distancing. Each venue is different and consideration should be given to individual venue set up. 4. Make determinations specific to you and what you feel works for your facility. The ACSA Social Distancing Guidelines provides tips to help you with this. https://australiancheersportalliance.com.au/news

05.01.2022 ATTN : GYM / STUDIO OWNERS/COACHES Are aware that Cheer & Dance Schools will no longer need to get a licence from APRA AMCOS and a separate licence from PPCA in the coming year? OneMusic Australia will replace this run-around (cheers all round :-)).... OneMusic will offer the dance community (and that includes cheerleading coaching businesses) time savings and a common-sense approach to definitions recognising the nuances of our sector. This is the new licensing scheme from 1 July (next week), which will be on a rolling basis for a full 12 months - there are a couple of hundred Dance and Performance Schools in the first wave - these are the Schools who have a licence due for renewal in September so you can see we have given them a lot of time to get their head around the change. https://onemusic.com.au/licences/dance-schools/ The big benefits are: The licence scheme is now based on the number of classes per week rather than days per week. Smaller dance schools running a limited number of classes will hugely benefit. If an individual dance and performance instructor is running their tuition out of multiple spaces, we will only count their operation as a single location. We know venues such as community halls are scarce. Digital copy/delivery (Spotify, Apple Music, others) is now only $2.02 per student rather than $6.00 per student under previous arrangements. The scheme is customisable. If schools dont need all the music rights (directly-licensed sound recordings, for example) they can opt for a partial rights discount. If a school doesnt need digital copying/recording because they have a live pianist each week they just need to let us know. A school can make a choice on the number of standard concerts and events they have and only pay for what they need. Of the two dozen licence schemes we are launching, the Dance and Performance Instructors and Dance Schools licence scheme has the most rights bundled into one licence (including ARIA) which should be a welcome reduction in paperwork for your members and a guarantee of comprehensive music licence coverage. If you want more background on OneMusic Australia there is loads on the OneMusic site - including FAQs which should help to understand what were about.

01.01.2022 Scott Morrison just finished a press conference where he announced that there is now a two-person limit on outdoor activities (down from the previous ten person limit) with the exception of if you are outside with members of your household. Further details, including penalties for breaching this, will be determined by the States. But for the meantime we recommend all gyms and studios immediately adapt to this two-person limit.
