23.01.2022 At its recent Christmas Lunch, ACS took the opportunity to honour Patrick Innes-Hill, Principal of Emmanuel College, with a Fellowship.

23.01.2022 Vale Martin Hanscamp Tonight our ACS family honour the legacy in Christian education of our dear brother and ACS Fellow Martin Hanscamp. Martin died peacefully at his home in Belgrave, Victoria after a very long battle with cancer in the early hours of Saturday morning. He was with his family by his side and passed as they sang Be Still and Know That I am God. ... On behalf of your friends in Associated Christian Schools, we honour you and thank you for your mind, heart and hands which our Lord has used to advance the cause of Christian education. You used your mind to strategize with the government, You opened the eyes of your heart to see His glory, and You used your hands to fulfill the mission You had for you to advance His kingdom. As we read in Matthew 25:21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. We are consoled by the knowledge that he is now safe in his Father’s arms. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family. Love and prayers Lynne Doneley and your ACS family. #christianeducation #ACS #CEN #commongood

17.01.2022 Read the report here: https://carduseducationsurvey.com.au Media Release 1: Research: How millennials are contributing to the common good Associated Christian Schools has joined with our consortium partners (all Christian school organisations) to enable, for the first time, Australian participation in the Cardus Education Survey. CES has become recognised as one of the most comprehensive and valuable surveys of its kind among school practitioners, leaders, and policy-makers ...alike. ACS developed its relationship with Cardus in 2013, shortly after publication of their 2011 North American report. The CES Australia 2020 is remarkable for bringing together the 6 Christian school organisations making up the consortium. Research of this calibre is beyond the reach of a single organisation, but enabled by collaboration in the interest of the common good. ACS acknowledges principal Australian researcher, Dr Darren Iselin, a Queenslander and long-term friend of ACS, lead researcher Associate Professor Albert Cheng (University of Arkansas); Dr Lynne Doneley (Executive Director / Principal Research Officer, ACS) and fellow leaders of consortium partners. Orima Research was the survey company, Australia’s largest provider of research, evaluation and data analytics service. Brisbane company R6Digital constructed the CES website. Cardus is an independent Christian think tank with main offices located in Hamilton (Ontario) and Ottawa (Canada), with intellectual hubs located across North America. Cardus emerged from a desire to translate the richness of the Christian faith tradition into the public square for the common good. Reimagined in 2000 as Cardus, the teamMichael Van Pelt, Ray Pennings, and a dynamic group of expertshave spent over twenty years studying the institutions, communities, beliefs, leaders, and intricacies of civil society that collectively compose the social architecture of our common life. Essential Findings of the Report: The CES Australia Report identified six major themes relating to how Millennials are contributing to the common good that included: Formation: the influence of school and educational experiences; Work: Employment, vocational pathways and level of income; Service: Involvement in associations, groups and causes; Generosity: giving through donations and volunteering; Family: Marriage and relationships; and Religion: Faith, spirituality and church/religious services. Further ACS Media releases will focus on one aspect each of the findings.

17.01.2022 As we pray on Good Friday: Living God, we come with joy and awe to the Cross, where we are met by Your love, persistent and profound. We praise You for the mixture of joy and sorrow we feel on this day joy for Your love which gave Your Son to the world; sorrow for our sin, which nailed Him to the Cross. We praise You for the sorrow because it makes us conscious of our need; we praise You for the joy because it keeps our hope alive. Let the joy and sorrow combine in our act of worship, so that we may go back into the world to diminish the sorrow and increase the joy, not only for ourselves but for everyone; in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

07.01.2022 To defend a land, you need an army. But to defend freedom, you need education. You need families and schools to ensure that your ideals are passed on to the next generation and never lost, or despaired of, or obscured. The citadels of liberty are houses of study. Its heroes are teachers, its passion is education and the life of the mind. Moses realized that a people achieves immortality not by building temples or mausoleums, but by engraving their values on the hearts of their children, and they on theirs, and so on until the end of time. 05.01.2022 And we have most to fear from the possibility that the biblical metaphysic, which has been a coherent value system for believers and nonbelievers for centuries, will fade from our culture, the stories will go untold, and young people will grow up in a society without any coherent moral ecology at all. 02.01.2022 Australian Schools and the Common Good Australian 25- to 39 year-olds were almost twice as likely to donate money than to conduct volunteer work. Volunteering was most common among Christian and Independent school graduates. That is just one of the findings from the landmark Cardus Education Survey Australia Project: Australian Schools and the Common Good.... The Cardus Education Survey has become recognised as one of the most comprehensive and valuable surveys of its kind among schools, leaders, and policymakers alike. These surveys, conducted in the United States in 2011, 2014, and 2018, and Canada in 2012, 2016 and 2018, contribute to an understanding of school-sector influence on a number of academic, spiritual, cultural, civic, and relational outcomes. Last year a consortium of Australian Christian School associations, that represent over 320 schools and 145 000 students, came together to replicate this study in Australia. You can read more about the CES project here - https://carduseducationsurvey.com.au/ The findings confirm that an Australian school graduate is not merely an individual but a member of a community a community that cannot be said to be flourishing if one of its members is not and recommends that a public-facing posture needs to be cultivated more widely in an increasingly self-interested and privatised public square. Please join us as we launch the findings of the Survey online at 4pm AEST on Wednesday 26 August 2020. Further details here - https://www.bigmarker.com/mccrindle/CESA-report-launch

01.01.2022 Prayer for Year 12 students Heavenly Father, We pray for our Year 12 students as they begin their exams. May they know and fear you LORD. Thank you that you have enriched them in every manner of your speech and knowledge.... May they continue to trust You wholeheartedly and put their faith in You, seeking Your wisdom and crying out for understanding. We pray they are not distracted by the ways of the world. We pray that they will be calm and collected during their exams, that they would not stress and worry, but find their peace in You. May they see Your bigger picture for their lives and know that you are in control. All these things we pray through Your glorious son Jesus Christ’s name. Amen. See more

01.01.2022 Dear ACS Family and Colleagues, As we commemorate Remembrance day today, may we take time in the business of the day to remember those who have fallen, giving their lives for our freedom. BIBLE VERSES This we call to mind, ... and therefore we have hope: God is our refuge and strength; a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46.1 I lift up my eyes to the hills from whence will my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121.1-2 REFLECTION "Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened. Billy Graham PRAYER O God of truth and justice, we hold before you those whose memory we cherish, and those whose names we will never know. Help us to lift our eyes above the torment of this broken world, and grant us the grace to pray for those who wish us harm. As we honour the past, may we put our faith in your future; for you are the source of life and hope, now and for ever. Amen. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.
