25.01.2022 Beware the fake domain renewal notices out at the moment - there are a lot of them. Make sure you know who your domain registrar is and ONLY renew with them.

22.01.2022 Been doing a site rebuild and it's coming up pretty good. Just a few tweaks to go. Why not make a visit? http://melbourneplumbinggroup.com.au/

21.01.2022 Working to make sure client sites are mobile responsive by 21 April. http://www.topshots.com.au

21.01.2022 Do you let your visitors know where you are? The internet is global and yet I see so many sites that don't indicate what state they're in let alone country. Make it easier on your visitors and include your suburb, state and country and your phone number as well. If you don't have a postal address that's fine, but share your location to some extent so that people know if you're able to assist them, particularly if you service locals only.

20.01.2022 Been working on http://wellbeingandbeautycentre.com/. Almost finished now.

20.01.2022 I love to be involved in local community and what better way than to find a cause, a charity, a non-profit that could do with some help and my expertise. Being a keen gardener I've discovered there is a local community nursery which will be useful for our own garden project here at home. But their website was vastly out of date and needing some TLC. Hence my latest project. Still has some work to go as it needs updated photos as well, but this is a good start and it's now mobile friendly too. http://sdcn.org.au/

20.01.2022 Is your website mobile responsive? Stats received today for a client's photography site shows that 41.25% of his visitors are using iPhone, Android and iPads for visiting his site. An architect client who sells house plans has 30.6% of his visitors using mobile devices and a conference site I manage has 42.2% of visitors using mobile devices to view their website. What are your visitors using?... To test your site go to http://mobiletest.me. Want to make your site mobile responsive? Contact me for web support.

13.01.2022 I know I harp on about it now and then but do you REALLY own your domain? Got another client whose site I'm going to rebuild and host on my own server. All this time she thought she owned her domain but it turns out it's her current host who really has ownership access and they won't give me the login details because it will give me access to other domains they 'manage'. Seriously, if the website is yours, you should own the domain too. Others can look after things for you, but you MUST have login details and complete access of your domain so you can do whatever you need or want. A past post I wrote may assist. http://acs-webhosting.com/retaining-ownership-of-your-doma/

11.01.2022 For each of my clients I set up an automated back up to be emailed to them regularly but they can also choose to do a manual one and download to their computer any time. This is very important - all clients should have ownership of their files. Seeing articles like this one http://www.smartcompany.com.au//64264-exa-web-solutions-c/ emphasises the importance of clients needing access to backup files as you never know what's in the future.

11.01.2022 Wondering what platform you should build your site in? This week I've had two clients both considering other platforms. One decided to go ahead and set up elsewhere because it was 'easier' to use, despite the fact that I was available to assist. Last minute panic because they couldn't get the domain name to delegate to the new server quickly enough and it caused hassles. When I finally got to see what she'd designed, I could have done the exact same thing with WordPress (an...d taught her how to use it) without the problem with having to shift the domain. End result now is, if they ever want to shift the site to another server they will lose what they have because it's on a program that can't be transferred. Second client wants to revamp her site. Currently in WordPress with Pagebuilder and she's finding it difficult. So she's considering other platforms. I explained to her the scenario above and told her with WordPress she can always shift her site, any time, and not have to rebuild it as it can be copied over. But if she uses another platform that's got its own server she cannot copy that elsewhere. She would need to start again. I also told her there was no need to use Pagebuilder on WordPress - it already has what she needs. Important you get acquainted with the facts. WordPress isn't that hard to learn and it's very Google friendly with mobile responsive themes. You can grow with your website as you learn more about WordPress down the track. I'm always happy to help you and hold your hand in the process.

09.01.2022 Is your website mobile friendly? Google will be making changes from April 21 so now is a good time to do the test as I've done below with a site. https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/

08.01.2022 I feel so sorry for clients who let their web hosts or web designers have full control of their domains in complete trust - only to find later on things go topsy turvy and they have no control of what happens to their domain or their sites. Rescuing yet another one.

04.01.2022 There's a lot of fake domain renewal emails going out currently. Read them carefully. If they have the line that's similar to this: Failure to complete your seo domain name registration christianmousepads.com search engine optimization service process may make it difficult for customers to find you on the web. Ignore it! But most of all, you SHOULD know who your domain is registered through. And you should make note of when your domain is next due in your bookkeeping system or diary so you're not taken in by these fake emails. Don't know who your domain registrar is? Do a WHOIS search. There are several out there. Here's one to help. https://whois.icann.org/en

04.01.2022 I've decided I like the Google Mobile Friendly test for websites. I can print it off as a PDF and give it to clients as certificated proof after I've completed a site.

02.01.2022 Chatting to a client wanting to know what else he can do to improve his site and get more phone calls. SEO is good, his site has great information, contact details easy to find, mobile responsive too. He used to get quite a few calls but they've dropped off. Wanted to know what else he could do and I told him the same thing I tell many clients. Write more often to your blog. Do it at least monthly but more often would be better. Google likes fresh new content - not just an image but actual words, a paragraph would be good. He changed the subject after just a minute or two of me talking about it. I guess he really doesn't want to do that but the reality is that's what it takes to keep your site up in Google - not just SEO and well built site but FRESH, NEW, REGULAR, CONTENT. What about you and your website?

02.01.2022 One of our servers is experiencing a temporary problem and is currently being worked on. If your site is down, it should only be for the next 45 mins or so and then will be back up again. If any concerns, please contact me direct. This only affects a small number of sites we are hosting. Thank you for your patience.
