25.01.2022 Members are continuing to enjoy being able to gather in the Real World. Although this week we are continuing the theme of cute pet photos, someone is in the bad books!

25.01.2022 As today is "International Left-Handers' Day", here's a big "Hi!" to all those left-handed stitchers out there. Inspirations Magazine has some interesting insights in their latest on-line newsletter https://mailchi.mp/inspiratio/embroidery-news-issue-461696

22.01.2022 The lull in sharing photos of members' work in no way means that members were not busy stitching, it just means that "Those who usually take the photos" may have been distracted by other things, or have even been busy doing their own stitching ;) It's a sign of the times that some people have been making face masks - there are many and varied designs to choose from on the web.

21.01.2022 From practical items for family to any and all projects "just because", there's plenty of stitching happening. Oh, and there's a dog (you're welcome!)

20.01.2022 A (very quick, but worthwhile) visit to the Blue Mountains brought together Australian social and political history at the house and garden of Leurella, still privately owned by the Evatt family. Although the huge display of toys was well worth a look, and I was tempted by the large Barbie collection, I was more drawn to the vintage hand made felt dolls in original clothing (sorry about the glass reflections)

20.01.2022 Well, many members are putting me to shame with their industry in producing such a variety of items. And yes, there's a dog. Not that I have anything against dogs, but where are all the other animals?

20.01.2022 Annual Exhibition 2020 Regrettably, we will not be holding our Exhibition this year. Keep watching Facebook and our blog for more activities planned for later in the year. Here's a "blast from the past" with some posters from previous years, and of course we're looking forward to 2021!

19.01.2022 Members are continuing with everything from finishing projects (that might have been waiting for a while!) to trying something new for them, or any kind of textile work. After a short lull in dog photos, here's another one - I admit it took me a few moments to figure it out!

18.01.2022 .. and before we know it, it's almost the end of October. I'm afraid in the interests of anonymity, some lovely smiles were edited from photos of the gift shop working bee. And of course for the endof the month there must be pets.

18.01.2022 Our technical issue with our web site has been resolved (woo hoo!). Now that the site can be accessed again, the previous post below mentioning machine embroidery got me thinking about an old blog post, which you might find interesting. http://embroiderersact.org.au/stitching-love-and-hope-2014/ There is also some comprehensive information about the method of making these WW1 silk postcards at https://www.worthpoint.com//greetings-from-the-trenches-em

18.01.2022 We're doing a catch up of a couple of weeks, and there has still been plenty going on!

16.01.2022 Note that the Great Australian Craft Show 5 has commenced, and will be on-line until Sunday https://gacs.craftalive.com.au/exhibitors/

15.01.2022 There is still a variety of stitching to be seen this week, as well of course as all those "behind the scenes" people in the library, recycle room, gift shop etc and others who keep the Guild ticking over.

13.01.2022 People will know that the Great Australian Craft Show (CraftAlive) has gone online in response to these times. If you can't get enough craft, they have created a "Classroom" where you can access their video library and other things. It's by subscription at a cost, but if you're interested, it's here https://gacs.craftalive.com.au/classroom/

13.01.2022 Many local businesses have been doing it tough in these times, so we'd like to support them. Endangered Heritage has been a solid supporter of our Guild for many years, so if like me you have some family history that needs some TLC.....

12.01.2022 Don't you just love this creative textile piece?

11.01.2022 Inspiration for decorative numbers!

09.01.2022 The weather is still decidedly chilly, but the early wattle has started to flower, so here's Australia's national flower emblem, the Golden Wattle, stitched by member Kay Reid

08.01.2022 Our members have been busy during the lockdown here is a example of the stitching they have been doing. "Pretty Little Pots by Wendy Williams. There are 52 squares to make and join together into a quilt.

08.01.2022 Despite best efforts to promote springlike thoughts, it SNOWED yesterday in Canberra, so here's a quite old blog post featuring just some of the many skills used by one of our members to create a snowy scene . http://embroiderersact.org.au/narnia/

07.01.2022 Looking for something new? The Crafty Frog might have something for you.

06.01.2022 We are currently having some "technical difficulties" with our web site, so apologies to anyone who has been trying to access it. Hopefully, it will be back in action soon, and in the meantime, here are some photos of machine embroidery (technology can be wonderful, when it works!), from our Guild's sampler collection.

06.01.2022 ...and if you're looking for more to do around home during days of social isolation, why not hunt out those family vintage embroideries? Oops, this is quite an old post, and alert followers have pointed out that the link now goes to a bedding company, so here's a different link! https://www.bhg.com//lau/linens/caring-for-antique-linens/

05.01.2022 Although we're not quite up to Spring yet, the street blossom trees around Canberra are starting to flower, so it must be time for a cover photo change. Here's some spring blossom smocking, by member Lorna L.

05.01.2022 .. and the remainder of September just flew past

01.01.2022 Our fellow Guilds are keeping up stitching as best they can, and as World Embroidery Day is coming up, here's something from Queensland

01.01.2022 Guild members are continuing to produce a huge variety of work. It's nice to see the progress being made on items, whether slowly or very fast! Although there are no dog photos this week, who knows what the future may bring?
