07.01.2022 The ACT Government will be progressing to Stage 3 of Canberra’s Recovery Plan from 12 noon this Friday 10 July. The following changes will take place: All ve...nues, facilities and businesses can have gatherings of 25 people, or one person per 4 square metres of usable space (excluding staff) whichever is greater. Outdoor gatherings can have up to 250 people, unless otherwise stated in the Directions. Professional events are to be ticketed, and spectators are to be seated. Sporting and entertainment venues with tiered patron seating should be no more than 25% of total seating capacity. Food courts can reopen for dine-in. Casinos, gaming and gambling venues can reopen. Bars, pubs and clubs are able to serve alcohol to seated patrons, with no limit on group size. Nightclubs can operate as bars if they wish. Steam-based services, including saunas, steam rooms, steam cabinets and bathhouses can reopen. Full contact sports, dance and martial arts competitions will be allowed. Outdoor community sports can have up to 250 spectators across the site (excluding staff and participants). Up to 25 patrons will be permitted at an unstaffed gym, health club and fitness facility. More detail on the changes www.covid19.act.gov.au/changes The final decision to proceed with easing of restrictions will be based on advice from the ACT Chief Health Officer and will follow a thorough public health assessment of the situation here in the ACT. In response to the situation in Victoria, the ACT has taken extra measures to manage risk factors and allow us to continue with Stage 3 of Canberra’s Recovery Plan. This includes: Extending the ACT State of Emergency to Friday 21 August. Joining NSW in temporarily closing our borders to Victoria. Introducing a mandatory 14-day quarantine for ACT residents returning to the Territory from Victoria. Be sensible and exercise common sense. The pandemic is not over. Restrictions have eased but our responsibilities haven’t. It’s important we all continue to practise good hygiene, maintain 1.5 metres from others, stay home if we’re unwell and get tested if we have COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild. If you haven’t already, download the COVIDSafe app www.covidsafe.gov.au and leave your first name and number with businesses to assist with contact tracing if required. We all have a part to play during this pandemic. Don’t let complacency set us back.

07.01.2022 With the new Australian ME/CFS Centre for Collaborative Research expected to open early next year, we’re so pleased to let you know a little more about the rese...arch work underway. One of the first projects led by director Dr Chris Armstrong will be to develop a research approach that focuses on individual patients and the biology that underlies their disease by analysing 100 ME/CFS patients over three years, monitoring their health data via wearables and sampling and analysing their blood and urine. The longitudinal study approach is the cornerstone of personalised medicine, Dr Armstrong says. By looking at the biological differences in an individual at mild and severe moments of their disease we can start to piece together what may be causing their illness and, at the very least, work out what improves or exacerbates their symptoms, he explains. You can read more about the project here: https://www.emerge.org.au//australian-research-centre-to-o
