23.01.2022 Day 2. Another 30+ barra and a few bigger specimens. Largest on our boat 74cm largest out of all three boats 87cm. Also a few sharks, thread fin salmon, blue salmon. Tomorrow we are out in the blue water.
23.01.2022 Day 3. Outside was a bit slow. Rick still got a good GT and I got a long tail tuna. A run into the estuary saw another 14 barra in a short time largest to Gerrard.
22.01.2022 Day one. Well over 30 barra caught the best a 67cm and a couple of thumpers lost. We also sighted a whale shark up in the estuary. I'll post the video of the whale shark when I return.
22.01.2022 Day 4. A little slower day chasing Finger Mark Bream. Only 4 finger mark and 2 grunter. A few Barra caught this afternoon the best a 75cm.
22.01.2022 20 years of selling & servicing Tohatsu Outboards. Where have all those years gone?
21.01.2022 Day 5. Last day of a great trip. Fishing has slowed a little, probably due to the slowing of the tide flow. We managed 28 Barra the largest going to Gerrard at 74cm.
19.01.2022 Per chi non avesse avuto tempo di vedere il video.. ecco svelato il nuovo modello, il primo di una nuova gamma: MFS115A
19.01.2022 Whale Shark in the estuaries of Weipa from our recent fishing trip. Who knows why a animal of this size would venture up into these shallow estuary.
19.01.2022 Just a quick reminder Summer & the long weekends are coming quickly and we are already booked for three and a half weeks. The first of the spring sale Tohatsu outboards have hit the test tank for pre-delivery and on their way to new owners. Don't wait to book in before Christmas with all the closures of marine centers in Canberra & Queanbeyan bookings will run out early.
19.01.2022 The New Four Stroke models just keep coming from Tohatsu with launch of the MFS4/5/6D range. These models feature the convenient and similar 3-way storage syste...m found in the MFS3.5C, which takes the worry of oil spill away. (refer www.tohatsu.com.au for full details) In addition, check out the large user friendly front and rear carry handles. These features and the modern look take these portables to a whole new level of simplicity and performance. See more
18.01.2022 Well this week it's about wheels. The first photo is of a cheap multi fit boat trailer rim. Take note of the holes where the wheel pulled over the nuts. Yes pulled over the nuts, the wheel nuts were still tight on the hub! The stud holes on the rim were too big & the nuts locked on the hub before locking the rim. Be careful what you buy cheap is not always cheap in the long run. The secon...d photo is of my 22mm socket split, after the rattle gun failed to remove wheel nuts from a Landcruiser I got my flex bar & socket. It undid all but one, the last one had that much pressure on it broke my socket (should have put the impact socket on the flex bar). Two other Toyota four wheel drives had over tightened wheel nuts. Theirs broke & new studs had to be fitted. So if your thinking of going off the beaten track you should go around your vehicle with your wheel brace supplied with the vehicle and make sure you can undo all the wheel nuts. Imagine if these vehicles had been in a remote area with a flat tyre. See more

17.01.2022 Not sure how to self service and maintain your inflatable lifejacket. NSW roads & maritime are holding a free clinic in Queanbeyan, Jindabyne & Adaminaby in April.
16.01.2022 Well it's two years since our last trip to Weipa and it's on again. Just left Canberra destination Weipa after stops in Melbourne and Cairns. Will post fishing and trip pictures over the next 7 days.
16.01.2022 With more and more portable four stroke outboards out there, this problem is becoming increasingly more common. If the outboard is laid in the incorrect position it will fill the cylinders with oil. This leads to problems like smoke on startup, hard to start, won't start or a hydraulic lock in which case the engine won't even pull over. So if you own a portable four stroke make sure you transport or store it in the manufacturer's recommended position. Tohatsu have just released a 3.5hp four stroke that can be transported in any position. Eventually technology will catch up with this problem and all four stroke outboards will be able to be transported in any position. Until then transport your outboard in the recommended position for safe and happy boating.

15.01.2022 This poor old girl has caught the Corrodea Virus. Not been washing properly.
14.01.2022 Day 5. A slow day at sea. Most fish turned into shark excrement.
14.01.2022 With summer on its way and now allowed to travel, a reminder of how much damage fishing line can do to your gearbox. For the sake of a couple of minutes pull your propeller off and check for line and if you think you may have picked up line in your prop this is a must to avoid damage like in these photos.
14.01.2022 Thankyou to everybody who showed interest in my Mako 440. A deposit has been taken and the boat will be picked up end of next week. If anything changes I'll repost it for sale.
12.01.2022 WARNING I had been asked by Tohatsu Australia about a new outboard dealer in the ACT selling outboards of all makes & models thousands under cost. The address on their web site list Harrison ACT but the street address is in WA and the post code does not exist. The ACN is 8 numbers not 9. Phone number is not connected, but you can shop on their site. It's called FIRST OUTBOARDS (for some reason only comes up on google search). I doubt you would ever see your outboard if you order one, little own get your money back. Please share this. It's hard enough to save money to do what you enjoy with out loosing it and having to pay twice.
11.01.2022 The brand new engine from Tohatsu Introducing the MFS/75/90/100/115A Unveiled yesterday at Düsseldorf Boat Show. To see more please see the video posted on the ...page yesterday. A very exciting way forward for Tohatsu.
11.01.2022 A boat was booked in today to have a new sounder fitted. The old one had not worked properly since new. See if you guess why. I think it's a good move to get this one professionally fitted. Note the tape around the bracket to stop/reduce the spray coming into the boat.
11.01.2022 In the workshop this week a pollycraft getting a repower from an old 85 Suzuki to a new 70 Tohatsu. While fitting the new engine we noticed the fuel filler hose was clear water hose with a poly elbow. Now to be cheep on things that are not a safety issue is one thing but a hose that holds back 75ltrs of fuel is not to be short cut on. The vent for the tank was mounted on the deck in the vertical position, so now we will have to remove the tank completely to clean all the water from the tank and relocate the vent. Now the owner of this boat was unaware of all these issues and has not owned the boat for long. It says something for getting a pre-purchase inspection.
08.01.2022 Ever wondered what is under that bonnet below the intercooler on your 200 series Landcruiser tow vehicle. Well here it is. Take note where the starter motor is and yes they are not unbreakable. Big job ahead to swap it all onto a new block.
07.01.2022 Take a look at this. The new 15/20hp four stroke EFI pull start from Tohatsu. No battery! Just sent my first one home with its happy new owner. When it was test run in our tank, two pulls and away she went, first pull primes and charges the system, second pull she fires. No more effort to pull than any two stroke its size, possible easier.
07.01.2022 Well it's official, Carburetor two stroke outboards will not be imported into the country as of the 1st July 2018 (except for some exceptions) and retail sales will stop July 1st 2019. Your old two stroke outboards will still be able to be used and second hand ones sold. They will rely on natural attrition to remove them from the market. A bit like when leaded engines were replaced by unleaded engines in cars.
06.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY CUSTOMERS AND FRIENDS. Hope you have a great 2018, tight lines, safe, trouble free, boating and motoring. If you need our services we will reopen on the 8th of January.

01.01.2022 Day 6. Fishing is all over but the story's. Leaving Weipa for Cairns. The debriefing starts at the local pubs.
01.01.2022 A Outboard was booked in last week for a new water pump impeller. Lifting the cowl off the outboard I found a rats nest. I'm still wondering what made him think he needed only to book in for a water pump impeller. I think everybody who owns an outboard should be able to remove the cowl and have a general look for corroded or broken parts, so go out there lift your cowl off and have a look while things are good so you will know when something doesn't look right. Don't forget to run your engines before hitching the boat up and travelling for hours only to be disappointed. Happy summer boating.
