19.01.2022 Make sure you object to Stage 3 of WestConnex - even the Government's own documents show that it will WORSEN traffic in our area
18.01.2022 ARAG and Act4Alex members discussed Metro for Alexandria with Clover Moore at our local fair last weekend - Clover's on board and is still fighting to keep freeways from cutting Alexandria in 1/2 and getting more stations built on the 5km Waterloo - Sydenham Metro gap. Go Clove!

18.01.2022 Alexandria Metro! Thanks #RON HOENIG (State Member Heffron) who met with Act4Alex members yesterday Ron went straight into State Parliament and demanded a Metro station be built in Alexandria! In short Ron said Alexandria is a rapidly growing suburb, smack bang in the middle of the "global economic corridor". Put simply, Alexandria is one of the most important suburbs in the most economically significant precinct in the country, and this Government will not connect it to ...its city-shaping metro project. Alexandria is crying out for its own metro stop and I urge the Government to to meet with these very impressive residents who have done a substantial amount of work, and hear their case". 16.01.2022 DO YOU LIKE WINTER SUN? The concept "plan" for the proposed residential Towers over the Waterloo Metro don't include many details BUT ... at 29 stories it's approximately 88 metres. With three towers proposed on Botany road and in the absence of ANY info from Urban Growth or Sydney Metro, a local resident (thanks Ben Noblet) used an online tool to calculate shadow lengths.... Early morning in winter, the shadow extends to erskineville oval (shadow line is the grey one): In the afternoon (4:30 - 5pm) it extends as far as the Eastern Distributor. The proposed towers are a massive over-development on this site and set a terrible precedent for future development. The ARAG meeting on Wednesday 8th August will canvas residents views and form an action plan to fight this massive over-development towering over Alexandria.
15.01.2022 Wendy Bacon’s article on the response to the WestCONnex M4/M5 connectivity Environmental Impact statement highlights the way the current State government has rigged the process to ensure that they can bulldoze these changes through with no checks and balances. Her article states an obscure provision of the NSW Planning Act had removed the EPA’s powers to stop work on a Critical State Significant Infrastructure site. It takes nothing more than the Minister’s signature to make... a site ‘critical’, which also has the effect of removing any possibiility of Planning Assessment hearings or court appeals about the merit of projects. These provisions were slipped through parliament around the time that the NSW government decided to go ahead with WestConnex. It further undermines pubic confidence in the planning process that engineering company AECOM, which has prepared the WestConnex EIS for all three stages, was one of a number of companies paid by the NSW government to build the original justification for Westconnex. The problem is that the real decisions are all made behind closed doors, excluding any possibility of a transparent sifting of evidence or of independent expert voices being heard. There is a huge amount of evidence that WestConnex is no solution to Sydney’s costly traffic congestion problem. It may remove some traffic from some surface roads but will create more hotspots that are polluted and near gridlock. Submissions by City of Sydney and many others made this point strongly. 14.01.2022 City of Sydney Council are surveying Alexandria and Erskineville residents on their proposed local roads calming and closures proposals - to try and insulate residents from the deluge of traffic and rat-running expected from the Westconnex off-ramp traffic. This is your neighbourhood, so have a look and give your feedback at https://www.sydneyyoursay.com.au/westconnex-traffic-solutio

13.01.2022 Cancerous mess doesn’t quite cover it - I am thinking it’s more like the impending apocalypse! http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au//0167bc075a2e958563c5f083
13.01.2022 Elizabeth Farrelly has nailed it! An insightful article into the planned destruction of our suburbs for private corporations to benefit http://www.smh.com.au//sydneys-future-concrete-asphalt-and
12.01.2022 Unbelievable! Nothing about WestCONnex is transparent or acceptable. Now we find out that the NSW Government paid $15MILLION for the toll free period extension on the M4. Who are they accountable to and which of the NSW residents did they ask if this was money well spent?
11.01.2022 Clover Moore is hosting an important event as part of the campaign to fix WestCONnex on Wednesday 11 October at 7pm at the Sydney Town Hall. This is for the whole of Sydney so tell all your friends to come and show the Premier that we can do better for this amazing city we live in. You can register to attend.
10.01.2022 Great news! Last night, the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) rejected the Stage 3 EIS for WestConnex which is the M4/M5 connection. An EPA licence is required to proceed with the project. That does NOT mean the project cannot proceed, but it does mean that they must do a lot more work to get it to the point that it is acceptable.... It does bring about the real prospect that the sales process will have to be slowed down, as it would materially affect the price of bids if the EIS approval is not in place. It makes it too risky to proceed. Read Wendy Bacon’s article to find out more Http://www.altmedia.net.au/epa-rejects-WestCONnex-eis/128946
10.01.2022 Join in the the FOE (Erskineville) and ARAG (Alexandria) community meetings this week and keep up the energy protesting big bad road decisions
08.01.2022 Leave your feedback on the lack of stations in Alexandria and St Peters on the Sydenham to Bankstown Metro EIS form at http://majorprojects.planning.nsw.gov.au/index.pl The Liberals Metro project has got the balance way wrong between a transport project and an urban development agenda. Protest over-development of our neighbour suburbs and their loss of transport access to jobs & services (green square and king street) and our loss of access to a mass transit solution that takes cars off already grid-locked inner-city roads! Demand an integrated, network oriented plan for comprehensive public transport.
