Speaker Joy Burch MLA delivered it in the chamber for the first time this morning An important step in our reconciliation journey with the Ngunnawal people, it also marks the first time an Australian parliament has ever delivered its Acknowledgement of Country in an indigenous language. 07.01.2022 Today the Assembly farewells two members: Vicki Dunne MLA and Caroline Le Couteur Member for Murrumbidgee Mrs Dunne has been an MLA since 2001, as a member for Ginninderra and Speaker of the 8th Assembly. Upon retirement, she will be the Assembly's 3rd longest serving MLA - an impressive 18 years 11 month and 13 days! Ms Le Couteur was elected first to the 7th Assembly in 2008 and again to the 9th in 2016. She has been member for both Molonglo and Murrumbidgee.... The most exciting part of this program is the presentation of their member's pins Today, our 8 new members were each presented a silver lapel pin. It has the Assembly emblem on the front and a number on the back representing the order of their election to #YourAssembly. This cohort will be the 82nd to 89th members elected to the Assembly since 1989!
