15.01.2022 Mudcake Challenge news Hi I sent the attached e-mail a couple of weeks ago with regard options for the Mudcake Polo Comp this year.... We have had response from Canberra paddlers and seems that Sat 4th April is a better date for them, but we are still a bit short of confirmed numbers. Could you ask around the Sydney paddling folk tonight and see how much interest there is? kind regards Andy Halliday From: Andy Halliday Sent: Wednesday, 26 February 2020 9:39 AM Subject: Mudcake Challenge Polo Comp 2020? Hi I am sending this e-mail out to get some input on planning the next "Mudcake Challenge" Canoe Polo Comp. We have this year's event scheduled in for Sat 28th March, however the initial responses indicate we may not have the numbers to make the event viable (the Shoalhaven club is struggling with active paddlers at the moment, so we do need support of Canberra and Sydney based players to keep this regional comp going). The proposed date was chosen as usually still good weather (some paddlers like to make a weekend of their visit to the South Coast) and 2 weeks before the Easter Nationals. However, now clashes with an Australian team training event which has double booked some regular attendees. We would appreciate your input on some of these other options: Move to Sat 4th April. Would this date suit better and give commitment from more players for a one day comp (usually 10am-5pm) or is it too close to Easter? Hold a "Mini Mudcake" on Sat 28th March or 4th April. This would probably be 12-4pm format to be changed, possibly no BBQ after but ensuring that all players have a minimum of 4 games (still A & B grade comps). Is this format with later start and earlier finish still attractive for people to travel to Bomaderry? Defer to another time later in the year? The Mudcake Comp was traditionally held early Nov, but have moved in recent years as too close to Canberra comp. Suggestions of preferred time of year? Please forward on this e-mail to other in the paddling community, responses with preferences by next week would be much appreciated. Kind regards Andy Halliday on behalf of Shoalhaven Canoe and Kayak Club
