13.01.2022 House Fire - Franklin ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) crews have responded to and extinguished a house fire on Nancy Cato Street, Franklin. Firefighters and ACT Policing will remain on scene while they work to ensure the area is safe.... Access to Nancy Cato Street is restricted, and the community is asked to avoid the area.

08.01.2022 Update - Structure Fire - Greenway A small fire has been extinguished at South.Point Tuggeranong. Atmospheric testing had been conducted and the area is declared safe for the public. ACT Fire & Rescue will be departing the scene shortly, allowing South.Point to reopen for business.

06.01.2022 Structure fire - Braddon ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) is on scene at a structure fire on Lowanna Street, Braddon. Firefighters have extinguished the fire and are undertaking ventilation and HAZMAT operations.... Lowanna Street is currently closed while firefighters work to make the area safe. The community is asked to avoid the area.

In dangerous conditions, you may not receive an Emergency Alert message in time. It’s important you stay up-to-date on conditions in your area and that you have a survival plan. State-of-the-art Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) detection equipment has been introduced to ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R), making it a quicker process for firefighters to identify chemicals and efficiently respond to incidents. A recent training course saw a multi-agency approach to learning, with several specialists involved from Australian Federal Police, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services - QFES, ANSTO, Fire Rescue Victoria and Research... 05.01.2022 Rainfall Predicted for the ACT The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting heavy rainfall for the ACT this Saturday. The community is encouraged to prepare now to minimise damage by ensuring all gutters are clear.... For those with existing damage from recent storm events, please endeavour to complete maintenance in advance of the coming weather. The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) advises to never enter or drive through floodwaters. Floodwaters can be several metres deep, rise quickly and move fast. 03.01.2022 A huge congratulations to the 36 staff and volunteers across the ESA who have been recognised for their continued dedication and commitment in a special ceremony today. The National Medal is presented to those who have completed 15 years within an ESA service. It acknowledges the fact they risk their lives to protect our community in times of need. For the first time, ESA Long Service medals were presented at the same ceremony, also recognising those in non-operational role...s. Thank you for your service

02.01.2022 The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the ACT, which is likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rain over the next several hours particularly for the Canberra CBD. Winds are likely to reach 60 70 km/h gusting to 100km/h. The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) advises that people should: * Move your car under cover or away from trees.... * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the ACTSES on 132 500.
