25.01.2022 Santa understands that not all children respond well to the loud noises, crowds and busy shopping centres at Christmas. So, we'll be catching up with Sensory S...anta at Blacksmiths Beach this year. Sensory Santa will be at Blacksmiths on Tuesday 24 November from 4-5:30pm and again at Blacksmiths Beach viewing platform, via the all-access ramp near the surf club and lifeguard tower on Wednesday 2 December from 4-6pm. Bookings are essential, please call our Customer Service Centre on 02 4921 0333 to arrange a time for your child to meet Santa. #christmas #lakemac #blacksmithsbeach #sensorysanta #merrychristmas

25.01.2022 Love your work, Dylan! In addition to offering a nutritious fresh food home delivery service for people with disabilities, Able Foods also offers additional accessibility features including the option of modified textured food reshaped to look like regular food (not baby food), Braille packaging and the company only hires people either with a disability or with lived experience of disability! Love it!

24.01.2022 I remember when I was a youngster occupational therapists were always there to help. So from me, as a disabled person to you, thank you, for everything that you do. Dylan Alcott delivers his opening keynote presentation, ‘Becoming the Best Version of Yourself’ at the #OTExchange2020.

16.01.2022 It's your favourite day of the week... AT Fridays! Nobody likes talking about it, but it's often the number one priority that needs to be addressed. Today Cameron reviews a standard bottom wiper (don't worry, no nudity in the video).

16.01.2022 Meet Action OT's newest staff member - Cameron! Cameron is an experienced Occupational Therapist who comes to Action OT having previously worked on the Central Coast. He has experience working in vocational rehabilitation, where he completed various ergonomic and home assessments as well as functional evaluations. Cameron has a keen interest in neurological conditions and cognition, helping people find ways to complete daily tasks that are important to them, and an interest in equipment prescription. Cameron’s interests include surfing (not very well), playing board games and taking his dog to the beach. Welcome to the team, Cameron!

12.01.2022 It’s time for the Starfish Product of the Month! We love the Desktop Gyroscope. It is so simple and yet so fun and mesmerising, and it’s weighted so it makes a lovely purring sound as it spins. Suitable for all ages, watch out for our short video to follow...

12.01.2022 Today we’re profiling our next Ready Set Move team member, Casey! Casey has tripped over, swallowed a fly and realised that 100 km is a long way to run during her journey this month, but all worth it for a great cause. Casey has pledged to run 100km to raise funds so people with disabilities can ride an adapted Freedom Wheels bicycle. She is up to 65km with only 35km to go. Well done Casey!... If you’d like to sponsor Casey, you can do so here: https://www.readysetmove.org.au/fun/CaseyBrown/readysetmove #readysetmoveau

11.01.2022 One of our OTs received a beautiful piece of feedback this week and we just had to share here as we all thought it was the best definition of an OT we have ever heard! I still may not be entirely certain of an OT's role but you're a function restoring, skill sustaining, emotional regulating, routine training, family educating, life improving, EMPOWERING rock star! All our OTs will be using this description from now on when anyone asks us to define what it is we do!

11.01.2022 Happy AT Fridays everyone! And by popular demand, the return of the original AT Fridays sign This week, OT Sophie reviews the spikey fidget range from Kaiko Fidgets. We are obsessed with the Kaiko range - check them out if you're not familiar with them!

05.01.2022 Our next Ready Set Mover is Nikki! Nikki is an OT, our favourite boss, and now also an avid cyclist (as of the 1st November) and has been on a steep learning curve as to the importance of a good, comfortable bike seat when cycling long distances. With 23kms of her 100km goal to go, Nikki will be doing whatever it takes to get to the finish line in the last few days of November - even with the expected 40 degree heat wave this weekend. So if you see her pedalling on a stre...et near you, please feel free to throw a bucket of water her way! With only a few days to go, you can sponsor her here: https://www.readysetmove.org.au/f/NikkiCousins/readysetmove

04.01.2022 Karen at Capable Spaces OT set us a little challenge to go with their donation to our Ready Set Move campaign: for the Action OT team to run 1 km, doing 5 pushups every 100m! We couldn’t quite get everyone together at the same time, so Nikki, Sophie and Casey took on the challenge and found a way to make the task a little more interesting late on a Friday afternoon Please enjoy our latest Action OT Films Blockbuster

04.01.2022 Big shout out to Valley Occupational Therapy for their generous donation to our Ready Set Move campaign! Today is the last day, so if you’ve been thinking about donating - now is the time! 03.01.2022 We have some exciting news - the Action OT team is participating in Ready, Set, Move! In November, we will be walking, running, cycling or wheeling our way towards our personal kilometre targets to raise money for Freedom Wheels - TAD so we can help more people to get an adaptive bike. If you are in a position to donate (and we are especially reaching out to businesses that operate within the disability sector), please go to our link and do what you can! Any business that don...ates $100 or more will get a special mention on our page, so please get behind us in fundraising for a very special and worthwhile cause. https://www.readysetmove.org.au/f/actionoccupationaltherapy
