25.01.2022 Do you find choosing storage options overwhelming? I confess to loving walking through the container sections in stores and looking at all the pretty baskets and boxes and imagining how I can use them. BUT ...... When you start your organising journey, don't rush out and buy all the pretty containers first. I always recommend doing the sorting/decluttering first. You may find you don't need as much storage as you think and, often in the organsing process, you change your mind... about the final home for items. So leave the pretty baskets till near the end of the process. Are you interested in finding out more about how Action Organising can help you? Contact me to arrange a free 20 min phone consultation to discuss your needs.

25.01.2022 I don't share too many before and after photos, as a couple of my regular clients do have hoarding tendencies, and I respect their privacy. When I first started, even after doing my hoarding training, I think I was expecting better results and I was very hard on myself. But my trainers reminded me about "keeping my clients safe" and this is what I do each week. It may not make for a pretty Instagram feed - but it does meet my tagline of "organising with heart" as I care for ...their well-being and know I am making a difference to their lives. #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

23.01.2022 I don't normally post personal pictures on my business page, but I wanted to share why I have been a bit quiet on my social media lately. I guess the picture gives it away, but I was recently married and had the most love time. I did all the planning and organising myself so spent hours of work getting it all together.... Then there was a nice little break for our honeymoon, and after that was all the work I had to do to sell everything I had created. I was still doing some small jobs during this time, but now am back in action and look forward to taking on some new clients. Please contact me for a no obligation free 20 min phone consultation. #actionorganising #organisingwithheart #wedding

23.01.2022 I have recently been working with a client with vision impairment who needed her pantry organised. As with every job I undertake, before starting, I spoke to the client about her needs. With her vision issues, she needed to be able to locate items easily and be able to know where each item is on the shelf. While I didnt change the layout much, we made a couple of changes that really made it easy for her. One was to move her many spices into a smaller container with an open ...top, this enabled it to be pulled out easily for her to be able to use her label reader to locate the spices she required. I also moved her glad wrap, plastic bags etc into a tall container. Having like items together makes good use of space and makes things easy for you to access. Sometimes it just takes a different perspective to help you come up with systems that will work for you. As with any organising job, I tell my clients to live with it for a little while and make any tweaks and changes to make it work for them. This client is going to buy a couple of additional storage containers and a lazy-susan to finish off the organisation. Do you need assistance with your pantry? Do you keep buying items and then finding you already have excess? Do you have out of date items lurking in the back? Do you use the space to its full potential? Please contact me for your free 20 min phone consultation so we can chat with you about your options #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

22.01.2022 I had the pleasure of working with another Mum in Business this week. This lovely woman is Mum to 4 young children, has a growing business of her own, and also coordinates a regular group for other busy mums. She welcomed me into her home, and we decided the kitchen was the place to start. The kitchen has a number of awkward spaces, those corner cupboards that you need to get down on your knees and lean into to be able to get to anything. As a result, many things in the ...back had not been seen for years! My process, is to try and take EVERYTHING OUT, this way you can really visualise how much stuff you have, it can be overwhelming sometimes, but it really does bring clarity. Once we had the majority out, we worked in sections. So tea and coffee making was first, and then glassware and dinnerware. These items need to be front and centre as used every day. Less used was entertaining plates and bowls, so they could be stored in the back of the cupboard, leaving room at the front for pots and pans and baking supplies that were used regularly. A lot of stuff was able to be let go, including two boxes of donations, about 4 bags of items, and also a pile of recycling. The result organised cupboards and we even had some empty spaces and shelves!. Next step, the family have to live with the changes for a few weeks to see how it works for them, and then I can go back and tweak some of the systems set up if required. As sometimes it might look good, but not work well for the household, and if that happens, it will easily get back into a disorganised state, so it is better to follow up and fix any things that dont work. Please feel free to give me a call to discuss your organising and decluttering needs. #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

20.01.2022 When it comes to clutter and having lots of "stuff", one of the things I hear often as a professional organiser is that people don't know where to start. So, today and every Thursday we are going to start!!! Over the next few weeks, we will work on different rooms in the house, and I'll provide you with some ideas for each room. You can share photos and tag us to see what you are working on. Each piece that you let go of, gets you a step closer to being less cluttered and ...overwhelmed. This week, let's start in the bathroom. Have a look under the vanity and see what you have by way of excess products ..... That shampoo that you used a few times and don't really like it (you never will like it), the face creams and foot scrubs that you are always going to use "one day" (that day won't appear). Also, for the ladies, check your make-up, it does have a shelf life (I'll share a link in the comments). What else is in that cupboard that you can let go of? Post a pic and tag us or use the hashtag #actionorganisingthurs Can't wait to see what you are able to let go of. Please feel free to contact me if you need support in decluttering and organising your bathroom or any other area of your home #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

20.01.2022 This week was pantry week at Action Organising! This pantry was deep and awkward to access the back. For this type of pantry, baskets and pull out drawers are a great way to utilise space. ... We cleared out of date items, and put open packets into storage containers. Every container was labelled and is easy to see. This can be done in just a few hours. Contact me if you would like more information. #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

20.01.2022 So while Action Organising has been quiet due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I have been using the time to increase my skills by undertaking professional development opportunities. #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

19.01.2022 What a great group! Women supporting women in business. Please support the businesses listed below

17.01.2022 Are you decluttering or moving house and have items to donate? This group is one close to my heart - the sales from the Penrith and Katoomba op-shops fund the Cancer Wellness centres (which get no Government funding). These centres provide support to people with cancer and their carers with support and subsidised services. They will collect items from the Mid - upper Blue mountains and Nepean area.

17.01.2022 Have I mentioned how thrilled I am to be a finalist in this amazing awards that support women in Western Sydney. #actionorganising #organisingwithheart #wswawards2019

16.01.2022 One of my regular clients had everything taken from his unit over the weekend and it was given a good clean. So today was purging/decluttering as we organised things back. This particular client has some mental health issues which mean that he has an ongoing plan in place to keep him safe and clutter free. #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

13.01.2022 Hoarding is a complex community problem, requiring skilled practitioners to employ a fresh perspective for effective long-term results. Hoarding Home Solutions is a practical approach to this complex problem. It was developed to bridge the gap between hoarding research and practical application with clients. I am pleased to announce that I have completed the Hoarding Home Solutions for Independent Service Providers online training program. Graduates of Hoarding Home Solution...s have gained the knowledge, skills and practical strategies to bring about change in a hoarded home with confidence and compassion. I am excited to add this training to my professional development and be able to better support those who hoard. I feel confident that with the additional skills I have learnt in this course, I will have tools to support me provide the best solution to my clients. I am dedicated to meeting people where they are at and providing my services in a non-judgemental way. I am excited to offer this service to clients who hoard.

13.01.2022 My current work is with a client with some mental health challenges and remembering where things belong can be a problem for him. We developed these tags for his storage closet to help remind him where things go. A similar system can be used for children's rooms to help remind them of where their toys belong.... Action Organising can help you set up systems like this to assist in making life easier ! Please contact me to find out more. #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

13.01.2022 At a hoarding and squalor symposium today. Adding to my skills on working with people with hoarding disorder. A professional organiser is non-judgemental and supportive if you have hoarding disorder or hoarding tendencies so never be concerned about reaching out. #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

12.01.2022 If you are like me, you are currently dealing with the uncertainly of the current health crisis with the COVID-19 pandemic. Trying to manage and understand what it means for you and your family and doing your best to say safe. With this in mind, Action Organising has ceased any face to face organising sessions until Government restrictions change. I am happy to do virtual sessions with you if you would like assistance in decluttering and organising - we can utilise facetime or zoom to walk through an area with you. I will be here to guide you through! Please connect if you would like to know more about how this can work for you. Stay safe !

12.01.2022 What a great looking storage system !! I certainly would encourage a little more decluttering so there wasn't quite so much to store but containers of the same size and colour are always more pleasing to the eye. Talk to me about how I can help you achieve this.... #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

12.01.2022 How did you go with Throw Away Thursday last week? I listened to my own advice and this is the result of going through my make up! And I'm not a big makeup wearer! I was really surprised when I started to think about how long I had had some of these items. And I guiltily admit, some was not even used. Buying things because they are 'a great deal' does not mean you will use them ... How did you go? #actionorganisingthurs #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

11.01.2022 Todays job was a linen closet. The client had a clear goal of what they wanted it to look like, so after discussing their needs, the first step was decluttering unwanted items. Next is sorting like items together. I was able to share a few folding tips and created a space that is functional and met the clients needs. The client will probably purchase a few baskets now the closet has been decluttered to make it more asthetically pleasing. It is better to wait before purchasin...g storage items, as it can be hard to envision what space you have until the area has been decluttered, I always suggest using temporary storage options first. Please contact me to find out how I can help organise spaces in your home. #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

11.01.2022 Its Throwaway Thursday again How did you go last week in the bathroom? I listened to my own advice and cleared out make-up, I dont wear make-up very often, so a lot of mine was past a healthy shelf life {see previous post}. Today, lets move to the bedroom my first stop in this room is the underwear drawer. Christmas is just around the corner are you expecting socks and undies under the Christmas Tree? So why not do a quick check of what you have. Any undies with hol...es or worn elastic are easy to let go of! What about sizing? Are you holding on to items that are too big or too small for you? Let go of these too! If they dont fit you currently, but you really dont want to get rid of them, is there a space you can use to put them aside? (I have a small box in the top of my wardrobe for this type of item) but, be cautious and realistic here. I had some put aside hoping that 'one day' they would fit - and held onto them so long the elastic perished What about socks? again, anything with holes can go, unless you are able to (and know you will get time to) repair them. With both your undies and socks, think about how many pairs you actually NEED to keep. This is something I need to monitor for myself where socks are concerned, as I cant resist a pretty pair with flowers or flamingos, yet I rarely wear socks! So that is something to just keep in mind. Don't forget, the aim here is not to spend hours in the room, just work on one section for a short time and you'll soon see the difference. Let us know how you go with this drawer, and tag us or share the hashtag #actionorganisingthurs Can't wait to see what you are able to let go of. Please feel free to contact me if you need support in decluttering and organising your bedroom or any other area of your home #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

10.01.2022 Little gift for my client who purchased a package of hours this weekend. Package hours are a good way to enlist my services, as often it is hard to adequately quote for how long a job will take as there are so many variables. Why not book in for a free phone consultation to talk about you needs... #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

09.01.2022 So thrilled to be interviewed by Wendy from Wendy's Way on my new business. I do hope you give it a listen. You will hear my passion for what I do and my why !! #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

07.01.2022 Kitchen before and afters. Client was keen to have easy access to small appliances so after sorting and purging unused items there was space available to provide easy access. #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

07.01.2022 I love this quote that I came across on the internet. As a professional organiser, people often think you are also a minimalist and will want to come into their homes and make them throw everything out! While I will encourage people to let go of items they don't use, need or love, I will never "force" people to throw anything out. Contact me to find out more!

06.01.2022 This is my other decluttered items from the bathroom 'throw away Thursday'! I was actually surprised at how much there was, as I felt I'd done this not so long ago ... It's amazing how quick things can accumulate. #actionorganisingthurs... Feel free to contact me if you need assistance with decluttering or organising your home #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

04.01.2022 Repurposed shoe rack was the perfect solution to store my clients hat collection. You don't need to purchase the perfect storage solution to be organised - I'm a huge fan of using what you have and making it work. #actionorganising ... #organisingwithheart See more

03.01.2022 So proud of my little business. #wswawards2019 #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

02.01.2022 You may have noticed my new profile picture which is part of a series of photos taken by Sarah from Light Her Lantern. I am so thrilled that Sarah understood how the work I do with Action Organising is more than just removing clutter and that can be about creating space for things you love. My tag line "organising with heart" reflects how I feel about the work I do. I truly understand how hard it can be to let go of things that hold meaning, and I would never force a client to let go of items, but I will support and encourage and work towards creating spaces that are filled with things you need, use and love. Thank you again Sarah for capturing my joy!

02.01.2022 How I spent my Saturday ! I fun day playing with toys - well not quite !! Had a huge day with Cassandra at Cherry Blossom Early Learning Centre working on the storeroom that hadn't been decluttered in a long time. What a great result !... #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

02.01.2022 Thank you The Wellness Couch Couldn't have picked a better quote from me to promote my interview with Wendy from Wendy's Way. Listen in your favourite podcast app or follow the link... #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

02.01.2022 Often it can be hard for people to let go of items that are important to them. A recent client was reluctant to let go of a pretty teapot which had lost its lid, but had been a gift from a friend. So I offered to create a little succulent pot out of it so she can enjoy it ..... rather than it be stuck in the back of a cupboard. Another thing I often do is take photos of items and create lasting memories that way. Do you have trouble letting go of things? Talk to me about how... I can help! #actionorganising #organisingwithheart

01.01.2022 Some great ideas here if you know someone who hoards.

01.01.2022 Did you know you can opt out of having phonebooks that you don't use delivered to your home? This can save bringing items you won't use into your home - and is also better for the environment. https://www.directoryselect.com.au/action/home... #actionorganising #organisingwithheart
