24.01.2022 Great news! ActivateFit.Gym will be back open from Monday 15 June. Were just as thrilled as you are to be back with our community, however, to ensure the safety of our members and staff, there are a couple of rules and changes weve had to make: We will be operating on reduced hours initially Monday Friday, 6am 8pm. Maximum of 100 people in the gym at one time. Social distancing rules apply please maintain at least a 1.5m distance from others. ... Please bring your own yoga mat. No towel hire please bring your own or purchase one from the ActivateFit.Gym reception. No boxing. Our group fitness classes will also return, however, will have a capacity of 10 per class this will be on a first in, first served basis. A reduced timetable will be released next week consisting of three classes per day. Now, your membership. The free time-stop will continue until Thursday 31 December or until restrictions ease, whichever comes first. To restart your membership, simply attend ActivateFit.Gym for your first session and it will automatically be reactivated. The seated shoulder press builds strength through the shoulders and upper body targeting the deltoids, biceps, and triceps. Ensure you maintain a straight and neutral spine, engage your lats, and keep your shoulders retracted for maximum ROM (range of motion).

Thats why were releasing a series of short videos on how to use some of the machines at ActivateFit.Gym. First up, heres a lesson on using a treadmill. The treadmill is a versatile piece of cardiovascular-conditioning equipment that can be used in several ways: - Incline - less impact. - Speed - great for HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Lower intensity over longer periods develops endurance, higher intensity over shorter periods develops anaerobic fitness.

17.01.2022 Workin' on your glutes? For our final tutorial of the year, Jaeden will be taking you through the Hip Thruster machine and why you should try it. This is another excellent way to engage the posterior chain and achieve a fantastic glute-burn targeting the glutes and hamstrings. To use this machine, ensure a strong and stable starting position with feet firmly planted on the floor, squeeze in through the glutes as you drive the hips upwards, and try to keep the rest of your body as straight as possible.

The seated row works on strengthening the muscles of the upper back, which is fantastic for improving your posture. It targets your rotator cuff, rhomboids, rear deltoid, biceps and erector spinae. Ensure you maintain a straight and neutral spine, move slowly and focus on full retraction (squeezing) of the shoulder blades.

05.01.2022 Seen this ol' machine down in the free weights room and thought how do I even use this? Well, we've got you sorted. Our resident host, Jaeden is back to take you through the Glute-Ham Raise on the GHD machine. The Glute-Ham Raise is a tough but effective way of building strength through the posterior chain, and can be especially beneficial in improving lower-body lifting performance. This one is great for targeting your glutes, hamstrings, and gastrocnemius. Have you incorporated the GHD machine into your workouts?

04.01.2022 Even though were back in the gym, well still be showing you some of our fave exercises and the correct techniques to do them. Whether youre still working out at home or are back into your usual gym routine, these exercises can be easily added into your workout or recovery session. In this video, Jaeden will be show you how to do the Transverse Plane. Benefits: The Transverse Plane is one of three planes of movement and covers any movement incorporating rotation. Rotationa...l movements not only increase the complexity of an exercise, but will usually place further demand on the stabilising muscles of the core in order to support the trunk. Many of the movements that we perform throughout day-to-day life do not incorporate the Transverse Plane, meaning it can be quite often ignored. This means that without an importance being placed on these movements during exercise, the risk of injury increases. Adding transverse movement to an existing exercise or workout can be a great way to ensure you are sufficiently challenging the stabilising muscles of the trunk. Remember, this information is intended as a guideline only and everyone is different. If you experience any pain or discomfort while exercising, it is best to seek further advice from a medical professional before continuing.
