08.01.2022 This week marks national pain week. Chronic pain is estimated to effect 1 in 5 Australians, and is one of the main conditions we treat in our clinic. Most people will experience pain from time to time, however it becomes chronic when the pain lasts for longer than three months (or normal healing time). This type of pain can be very debilitating to a persons life. ... Although chronic pain is typically caused by a known injury or illness (i.e lupus, Endometriosis, Arthritis, ect), it may sometimes have no know cause at all. Previous medical treatment for chronic pain has been the prescription of strong, addictive pain relief medication, however we now know this doesn't have to be the case! Recent research has shown that general movement and guided exercise may actually be the key in relieving pain, and returning a person back to normal function. If you are interested in the theory behind pain, and how exercise may help please watch the video below by the god of pain himself - Lorimer Moseley. If you want more information call and book in with one of our exercise physiologists to talk about your specific needs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwd-wLdIHjs

03.01.2022 Emu Parks very own super man showing his amazing improvement on the upright bike! Bob started seeing us last year for stroke rehabilitation. Early this year however Bob suffered another stroke, which rendered the right side of his body paralyzed. Bob has been out of hospital for about a month now and last week performed his first session on the bike! Bob has been working very hard with AEP Gemma and can now walk independently with a walking stick, climb stairs and complete ...most ADLs! We are super impressed with your performance Bob and can't wait to see what your superhuman capabilities will bring!
