25.01.2022 One of our team members in South Australia, Sam, came to the rescue this past week for the Save Our Wildlife Foundation Inc. Their volunteers were unable to deliver fresh daily leaves to the possums in their care due to isolation reasons, so Sam provided all the leafy greens they needed. #UbersEatsLeafService

24.01.2022 We are giving back to the Adelaide Hills community by providing garden mulch to residents of Hahndorf and surrounding areas. A complimentary mulch drop service is available for locals to access from the bottom carpark of the Hahndorf Oval Recreation Reserve, Echunga Road, Hahndorf. The mulch is a byproduct of our trimming program that takes place in the region every bushfire season. Aside from the aesthetic benefits mulch provides, mulch is vital in weed control and manageme...nt, improves soil health and assists in retaining moisture in the soil. #Treesday

23.01.2022 Today for NAIDOC Week we take a look at ‘tree scarring’. This may be familiar to many people around Australia as we can still see the remnants of Indigenous Australian labour that assisted in the creation of objects such as canoes and shelter. Scarred trees have special significance to Aboriginal people today and a large number of scars can be directly connected to Aboriginal activities. To learn more about ‘tree scarring’, please visit the following link >>> https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au//aboriginal-scarred-tre

17.01.2022 Today for NAIDOC Week we take a look at some different plants and trees traditionally used by Indigenous Australians to create things such as medicines, tools and hunting and fighting equipment. These technologies have been used for thousands of years and passed down through generations to be still used today in some remote communities. "The application of knowledge to create technologies is an integral part of the heritage and future of Australia. It is also essential to sustainable development. In traditional Aboriginal societies science and technology were used to manage the environment for the benefit of all people. 06.01.2022 Forest Bathing Is Great for Your Health. Heres How to Do It In Japan, they practice something called forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku. Shinrin in Japanese means forest, and yoku means bath. So shinrin-yoku means bathing in the forest atmosphere, or taking in the forest through our senses.

06.01.2022 Team Member Stories: Andrew Stannard Every industry has its hierarchy of roles and arboriculture is no different. New starters begin with feeding trees into the chipper, some say the glamour position is climber and in between is stump grinding; a role that is more complicated than it sounds and definitely not for the faint hearted. 04.01.2022 Once a year we conduct helicopter inspections to identify vegetation close to powerlines. With the help of Helistar Aviation, our Scoping Inspectors carry out aerial patrols that form part of the annual bushfire program. We do this to mitigate the risk of bushfires in high bush fire and high growth areas coming into summer months. The use of helicopters significantly reduces our inspection time and can cover vast areas without the need to enter as many properties. Heli inspections are currently being held in the Mid north, Lower SE, Adelaide Hills and Fleurieu regions of South Australia.

01.01.2022 As we celebrate NAIDOC Week around the country, we at Active will be sharing some posts that highlight the cultural significance trees have to our Indigenous Australian culture. Today we look at the dendroglyphs or ‘carved trees’ of the Gamilaroi and Wiradjuri people in Western NSW, as photographed by Clifton Cappie Towle before his death in 1946. The Wiradjuri people of central NSW carved complex designs into trees to mark the burial site of a celebrated man whose passing had a devastating effect on the community. It has been suggested that the carvings were associated with the culture heroes admired by the man in life and were thought to provide a pathway for his spirit to return to the sky world. To learn more about dendroglyphs, please visit >>> https://www.anbg.gov.au//Carved-Trees-Guide-State-Library-
