25.01.2022 Due to 6.30am being our most requested class time on our recent group Fitness Survey, we have added the following classes to the group fitness timetable from next week: Spin Tuesdays at 6:30am with Cris Pilates Thursdays at 6:30am with Morgan... We now have 5 new classes for you all next week! Please note: Due to further feedback on our recent group fitness survey, we have adjusted the booking system to allow bookings to open up only 2 days in advance from 8am. For example if you want to book a Tuesday morning class (whether 5:30am or 6:30pm etc) you will be able to book for this from 8am on Sunday. This means you do not have to wake up at 5:30am on a Sunday to book a 5:30am class. We have also changed this for creche bookings as well so that it is in line with class bookings (this was also a suggestion received on the survey). Squash bookings (1 day in advance) and aqua bookings (1 week in advance) will remain the same. Thank you to everyone who has completed our group fitness survey. 23.01.2022 Update on Stage 3 We know some gyms have been posting that 24/7 access is back from tomorrow but unfortunately nothing has the tick of approval yet from the Chief Health Officer so we have to keep waiting for official confirmation for easements and reopening of facilities tomorrow from 12pm. As soon as we know we will update everyone via email and social media (its definitely going to be a very late notice email and we do apologise but its out of our hands)! ... Posted @withregram @wearefitnessaustralia Queensland gym owners, staff and members; we share your frustration. Despite being verbally advised a week ago our Stage 3 Industry COVID-Safe Plan had been accepted by the Queensland Government, we are still waiting for official endorsement from the Chief Health Officer. Fitness Australia has tried every day since last Friday to secure this written confirmation and have been promised each time you should have it later today. Unfortunately, with less than 24 hours to go we are still waiting.

21.01.2022 HYGIENE REMINDER Please remember the following rules. Which TBH will be rules (except for social distancing once COVID-19 is gone ) forever at Active Life Fitness. We have members with cancer and going through treatment, elderly and young members, staff and PTs with compromised immune systems that cannot afford to pick up even a cold but rely on the gym for their sanity, health, and well being. ... So these hygiene measures will be at Active Life 4 life because if Corona has taught us anything its how to be more hygienic in our everyday lives whether at the supermarket, shopping centre or the gym. So please please please remember to do the following: Stay home if you are sick and go get tested and self isolate until you have the results Hand Sanitise upon entry and exit and frequently whilst in the gym (we have enough of them around the place!) Always bring a towel! Wipe down all equipment before and after use (you cant trust that the person before you has done the right thing) Maintain your 1.5m distance from others . We thank you for your support and for following the rules. If we can make things easier for you by providing another paper towel dispenser or another hand sanitiser somewhere please let us know and we will do it if possible with wall space. Thank you

It might sound obvious, but youre more likely to succeed if you understand how the setup of the machine itself works, what the expected outcome of the exercise is, what the details of the technique are - and why youre doing that exercise in the first place. And the reality is you MUST BE READY for a lot of moves. Physically and mentally. As an example - handstands are scary for a lot of people and for others, these are physically out of reach... and for everyone else - they might have zero desire to go upside down. If youre paying for a coach, expect the highest possible standard. If youre training alone film yourself from different angles so you can see how your movement looks. 14.01.2022 As well as wiping down the obvious (upholstery in the weights room and consoles in cardio) there may be some extra things you might be forgetting to wipe down Cable Machine attachments Pins on machines Rollers, bosus and balls ... Even if we werent in a COVID state of mind just think who has touched this and what have they touched before they touched what I am about to touch . COVID has taught all of us to be more aware of germs and good hygiene and will be something that stays with us even after COVID is gone. So please get in the habit of wiping down everything before and after use and hand sanitising frequently because all these good hygiene measures are here to stay! See more

08.01.2022 Hygiene & Social Distancing Reminder Please continue to abide by all distancing and hygiene rules in the club. What is happening in VIC at the moment is a reminder to everyone that this is far from over and we need to continue our daily hygiene and social distancing requirements wherever we go to prevent a 2nd wave happening here.... While visiting our club the things you need to be doing on each visit to keep everyone safe are: Social Distancing Train hard, go home Wash your hands regularly Hand sanitise upon entry and exit Always use a towel Stay home if you are unwell Wipe down all your equipment before & after use The last bullet point you all deserve 5 for. We have never seen so many of our members continually wiping down equipment so thoroughly and often. At times we look out and all we see are members cleaning equipment! Here is an example of how much you guys are wiping down equipment. Prior to COVID-19 we went through maybe 4 6 roles of 300m paper towel in a week. Since reopening we have been going through about 50 rolls of 300m towel. Thats 15,000 metres of towel We are also running through a 20L bottle of disinfectant in about 2 weeks which would normally last us months! Our suppliers literally cannot keep up with our weekly order of paper towel and how much we are going through (they service other gyms and no one is having to order the quantity that we are). Our overnight cleaners also cant believe the amount of rubbish that they are taking out each night for us. We cant thank our members enough for taking this seriously and we hope that even after COVID-19 is over and we can go back to hugs , high fives and chats in the gym that we continue to run through 15,000 metres of paper towel a week because everyone loves a clean gym!

07.01.2022 This is Kate on the left! Kate is the most determined, strongest, and positive person that we know. We love it when she walks through our doors each and every morning as she will instantly brighten our day. Kates well and truly hit the 10-year club at Active Life with her good friend Lisa who is pictured in this photo with her. This photo was taken during our closure where Kate and Lisa cased our building (probably every day) trying to find a way in.... Kate was diagnosed with breast cancer on the 20th January 2020. Being diagnosed with cancer and having chemo treatment would deter most people from coming to the gym. Cancer + chemo + COVID-19 absolutely would. But not Kate. If we ran our attendance report for the month of March, she would be in the top 10. Kate saw the gym as her recovery during her chemo treatments and felt safer at the gym than her own home. Active Life is Kates home away from home. Alas, she was probably one of the most devastated when we had to shut our doors. Her first chemo treatment after our closure was her worst recovery to date and her doctor admitted to her that he thought it was because her gym shut. Since we have reopened our doors she has now been having the best sleep she has had in months! Who says gyms arent safe?

Research widely supports the fact that our bodies remain adaptable to exercise and strength gains well into our older years - a 2013 study revealed that a 12-week training regime improved a group of 90+ year old's strength, power and muscle mass (reflected in improved walking speed, balance improvements, and increased ability to stand from chairs). Muscle and bone mineral loss with ageing is a very real threat to our function and quality of life as we age. From our mid-30s onwards, our body's naturally experience a loss of muscle mass (termed sarcopenia) - this rate of loss is increased for physically inactive people (as high as 5% muscle mass loss per decade of life). Ivan is originally from Indonesia > Grew up in Perth > has lived in Sydney > and is now giving Brissie the opportunity to claim him!! (So, let’s keep him here!) And YES, he speaks fluent in both Indonesian and English! One of his favourite movies is Law Abiding Citizen.... Don’t bother asking him what his favourite meal is, because this boy eats everything! (he says you don’t want to know some of the things we eat back in Indo) In another life, Ivan was a draftsman and had drawn up multistorey apartment blocks all around Perth He said that if he had grown up in another culture/circumstances he probably would have followed his passion in the athletic/performance/health & fitness a lot sooner in life, but everything happens for a reason and you always learn from your experiences. So As a PT he offers coaching to all different skill levels from the beginner to the advanced, from boxing, kickboxing, weightlifting, olympic lifting, gymnastics & mobility training. Ivan believes in the long game! That the body needs to be challenged the right ways but also needs to be taken care of, just like you would service your car.
