25.01.2022 Often Mondays require a little more motivation, so just remember to persevere no matter what this week throws at you. #mondaymotivation #empowered #helpful #uplifting #inspirationalquote

25.01.2022 Getting great feedback about our team and how invested they are in helping people like Suzie is heartwarming. Suzie’s goal was to start a walking program in her new neighbourhood to be more physically active and independent. With help from our exercise physiologist Izzy, Suzie can now walk for 60 minutes without rest and has nearly finished memorising the route from her home to the shops. Well done Suzie ... #disabilitysupport #positivechange #teamwork #inspiration #confidence #exercisephysiology #active

24.01.2022 Darwin's Sing Song Signers. It's inspiring to see how a community can overcome obstacles thrown at them and create something so innovative and beautiful. "Alex McInnes loves waking up on Saturday mornings. For the past decade, the 27-year-old courier has spent his Saturday mornings rehearsing with the Sing Song Signers, a choir of young people most of whom live with disabilities.... But unlike most chorale groups, the Sing Song Singers don't sing they entertain crowds by interpreting the lyrics of songs through sign language." #disabilityinclusion #disabilitypride #disabilitycommunity #support #choir #innovation

22.01.2022 We would like to introduce Tarin, our exercise physiologist on the Sunshine Coast. We love sharing with you what our team does and why they like doing it. "I enjoy providing people with disabilities the education and knowledge that they are looking for regarding exercise so that they can incorporate it into their lifestyle to achieve their personal and NDIS goals. I have experience working with a variety of clients of various ages and medical conditions such as cerebellar ata...xia, mitochondrial disease, intellectual disability and spinal cord injury. I believe that ensuring client enjoyment throughout their session is an important part of the success that I see with my clients. I am able to do this by getting to know each of their interests and individualising my approach to their exercise programs." #exercisephysiologist #exercisephysiology #activeability #sunshinecoast #teamwork

19.01.2022 Meet Stephanie, our physiotherapist. Here's a little about her, her job and her goals. "My passion and interest areas include disability support, paediatric physiotherapy, improving the ageing process and using physiotherapy as part of the greater Allied Health team in order to provide a holistic approach to improved physical function, independence, health and well being. It is essential, when looking to achieve your NDIS goal, that your support team considers the importance... of multi-disciplinary care, including services that consider your nutrition, exercise, mood and emotional well being. I am always striving to learn more so that I can provide exceptional therapy services I am excited that I am able to do this daily as part of the Active Ability team!" #disabilitysupport #health #disability #disabilitysector #physiotherapist https://bit.ly/2QZzE2f

19.01.2022 The daily challenges people living with a disability can face are still widely misunderstood by the general public. Here is a fresh perspective based around Todd's experience during COVID-19. "I've spent my whole life subverting those expectations My biggest task is to prove people wrong every day of my life so in comparison to that the virus isn't really so bad." @9NEWS... https://bit.ly/2ImZhsQ #newperspective #disabilitysupport #activeability #COVID #listenandlearn

18.01.2022 Anthony has been receiving exercise physiology support from Active Ability since April this year with the goal to ‘improve my physical health’. Anthony has been engaging in exercise that he enjoys like boxing, circuits and running. His exercise physiologist Emily uses minimal equipment so Anthony can continue to recreate these exercises and reach his personal bests on other days by himself. We love that Anthony is really motivated and pushes himself to do his best every session. Go Anthony! #exercisephysiology #personalbest #motivatedmindset #exerciseroutine #positivechange #disabilityfitness

14.01.2022 Yesterday the Minister for Health, Greg Hunt, released a statement related to the plan for expansion of TeleHealth services in response to COVID-19 - Active Ability is already providing TeleHealth as well as our mobile services - great news! In this media release he said "We recognise telehealth is not appropriate for the management of all health care problems and in many cases face-to-face consultations will still be needed. It is imperative Australians continue to receive t...he high quality medical care and advice they expect and deserve from their health care providers. We cannot risk a reduction in the standard of medical care provided to the people of Australia." As part of our commitment to infection control, each and every member (our admin team included) of the Active Ability team has completed the Australian Government's COVID-19 infection control training module. Ask your clinician for a copy of their certificate if you'd like evidence of completion! https://www.activeability.com.au//infection-control-traini

14.01.2022 The short answer... Yes! It is always a good idea to be kind to every person you interact with, especially after a long week. Maybe you aren’t having a great day, but by being kind, you could make someone else’s day better and in turn make yours better too! It's always a good idea to create a circle of kindness, as we never know how other people are feeling. 11.01.2022 We know people may not stay on top of their health as much as they should between Christmas and New Years. But does mental health affect physical health? Mental health and physical health should not be thought of, and treated, as separate components of our healthcare but rather part of the co-occurring components leading to the overall quality of life. #disabilitysupport #health #disability #disabilitysector #meanthhealthsupport #physicalandmentalhealth #quailityoflifematters #healthcare
