20.01.2022 Client Spotlight Meet Elizha! It’s been 10 weeks now since Elizha joined our Active Group Training sessions after coming in for some advice on a painful hip and it’s already been likes she’s been with us for years! ... From the shy and nervous beginner to the fierce and committed trainer she has become, watching Elizha continually improve and learn how capable she is has been great to watch. Elizha has also found a new love in skipping and is honing her tricks each week and is starting to teach me a few too! Check out her page @elizha.jumpz to watch her skipping progress. I am seeing results already and this is probably the fittest I’ve been since my high school days. Elizha is a mum, is currently studying and also makes some tasty lumpia ( sort of like spring rolls) in amongst it all!

20.01.2022 Good luck on your move Tom, it’s been a pleasure coaching you and a pleasure training with you. Seeya when you come back to visit us sometime! Thomas James Heffernan

20.01.2022 Welcome back Pippa! We had a break from training Pippa over the period we had to close during the Covid restrictions, but she’s been back with us for the past two weeks and is killing it! It’s great to have her cheeky smile back in the gym

20.01.2022 Many gyms around Australia are reopening their doors today to their community, with the exception of NSW. We still have no indication of when or under what restrictions we can work toward creating a concrete plan to welcome back our members. I am confident that we can create a space that poses no greater risk to our members than any other business in our community and am dumbfounded by the inconsistencies surrounding the current NSW restrictions. Like any industry, there wil...l be some who have to change their business models and floor layout, particularly in peak times, but I don’t believe there is a single gym business that can’t adapt and step up to the plate. If you consider our business, we have two sides to it - the essential service of providing clinical allied health Exercise Physiology services to clients, which is currently approved by the NSW government - but only if the premises is UNDER 140m2. So this guideline means an accredited exercise physiologist and client with a clinical need are deemed safe and essential if the business premises is small, but simply because we choose to allow our clients plenty of space in our facility (we are somewhere over 200m2), having just two people in there - an exercise physiologist and clinical client who can have 100m2 each if needed - is not allowed The other side of our business is fitness and health promotion for general populations - those that haven’t been referred as clinical health need but just want to improve their own health and fitness. Our small group training, personal training and CrossFit sessions are still not allowed - even though we can allow well in excess of the 4m2 in a group of 10, can allow our clients to distance well more than 2m apart, can ensure no one comes without a booking, every client tracked on every attendance, we clean and sanitise equipment after every use and can ensure no equipment is shared amongst clients in a session. When you say it’s safe to get your eyebrows waxed, have a beer and play the pokies, but we are still left out in the cold, this is where your guidelines make no sense @gladysb @brad.hazard #gymsaresafe #exerciseismedicine

19.01.2022 Fridays are always fun! New PR for Clinto tonight at 105kg. Pretty sure Joc got a PR as well (her third for the week!), and maybe also Ellie and Lozza too (I’d better check!). Busy night with lots of records makes it hard to keep up with you guys and your progress Who else in our crew for PR’s this week I need to record?? Let me know!

19.01.2022 Yes we should aim to be strong , but we should also aim to be mobile . Strength and mobility work hand in hand both in the athletic arena so you can better access and control positions through movement, but also to help your body move better and ache less throughout everyday life.

18.01.2022 We love training our CrossFit Kids groups! In today’s session we got a little distracted by rainbows in amongst the kids smashing out some pullups

18.01.2022 Welcome back team What a great week we have had welcoming our community back into our gym - we have missed you all! Despite the magic of Zoom that allowed us to continue to train many of you over the lockdown period, there really is nothing like the real thing. It’s great to see your smiling faces, to have a chat, and to see your openness and willingness to implement our new COVID procedures without complaint, but mainly it’s just great to see you all in real life again! #activeep #crossfitsapphire #thebestlittlegymintheworld #bega #community #welcomeback

We are so proud of how everyone performed today and special thanks to Mick and Loz for being super judges! @ Active Exercise Physiology

15.01.2022 2020 ...the year we were STRONGER TOGETHER! So much happened, it’s worthy of a little summary story January - We started the year with much excitement after settling into our new premises in late 2019, only to have our first closure of the year with the bushfires in January. Our local region suffered greatly and still carries the scars, but we had our first lesson of the year in the power of community, supporting and caring for each other through the uncertainty and fear...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Our updated reopening timetable. We had so much fun being back into the swing of things yesterday and can’t wait to see both familiar and new faces next week back in the gym

14.01.2022 Doing it together, even when we are apart This month one of our favourites @jodescc completed a challenge to do 25 push-ups a day and post on social media to raise awareness of mental health. This week she tagged another of our favourites, @kelly.williams.7330 to also complete the challenge. So yesterday I made it optional for any of our online class participants who wanted to, to complete the 25 pushups with Kelly before we got into our daily WOD. As you can see, many jump...ed on board to support her! Also well done to @jocelynfrance, who this month has completed the push-up challenge, also raising awareness for mental health, which finishes tomorrow. Over the past 21 days Joc would have completed 3046 pushups! Well done Champ We can’t wait to be able to train together again at our facility, but love that we’ve been able to still get together online each day in the meantime. #community #doittogether #pushupsformentalheath #cmongladlyswerereadytotraintogether See more

14.01.2022 It’s the CrossFit Games 2020 weekend and it was so cool to see our CrossFit Kids feature on the CrossFit Games pre-show this morning. Our kids class had a play around with the Rower and Handstand events, whilst our teens had a proper hit out at the 1km Row event. You never know, in 10yrs or so you might just see someone from this video competing as an athlete at the Games Thanks @crossfitgames!

11.01.2022 Happy Thursday

11.01.2022 One good thing about the world going a little crazy this year...we get to see @georgiawills__ back in the gym again! Her trip to the UK may have been cut short, but we are happy to see you in Bega again

09.01.2022 Active Group Training It’s been great to be back coaching these guys face to face over the last 2 weeks since reopening. Zoom kept us moving and in contact, but in the gym is where we come together to support and push each other. Featured in this video is some of what we have been up to in our Active Group Training sessions over the past 2 weeks. This is one of our staple programs we offer at the gym. We’ve developed a training structure that allow us to bring a group of p...eople together, but still tailor and modify each element of the program to each individual clients needs. Every session incorporates a warm up, strength component, accessory component and the daily WOD, to finish with the heart pumping and lungs puffing. Come and check it out by contacting us to secure your 4 week membership trial for $99 *Limited number of trials available at any one time to ensure we can cater to our client base.

09.01.2022 My favourite photos of the week We’ve had approx 150 logins to our online training sessions this week, with our crew continuing to train with us despite the physical gym being closed. We’re super proud of our crew for sticking their hand up to continue to train with us, continue to connect with each other each day and continue to support our business. I’m also proud of how quickly @romycook has adapted to be thrown in the deep end in her first time online coaching, and now ...she’s doing it with ease But my favourite moment of the week was when our CrossFit Kids happy little faces popped up on the screen, ready and rearing to go. And when the internet cuts out because you live out of town, I still got some the pics that my little champions Izzy and Thea still completed the workout anyway! well done girls! Week 2 of lockdown online - here we come!

05.01.2022 A great arvo today watching the Bega Roosters juniors have a run around the field, followed by an arvo CrossFit Sapphire session at the gym. Perfect combo! We are proud to display the CrossFit Sapphire logo as sleeve sponsors of the Bega Roosters U12’s tackle team, and the Active EP logo on the League tag girls sleeve as well. One more game for the Roosters next week to top off a season that has been worth the effort to get the kids back on the field in such an interrupted year. Well done to the committee and volunteers that have made it possible

04.01.2022 Merry Christmas from the team at Active EP

04.01.2022 In memory of Maria This week we heard the sad news that we lost one of our most valued and favourite community members, Maria Wilson. Maria had been a dedicated member and one of our biggest supporters for many years. Over this time, Maria taught us all a valuable lesson in courage, persistence and looking on the bright side of life, despite the circumstances you find yourself in. ... Despite the injury and health challenges she faced, Maria never complained, never gave up and continued to prove the medical world wrong in how long she could fight the fight for. We are very proud of you Maria, thank you for your support over the years and know you will be dearly missed. Our condolences go to Maria’s family and friends

03.01.2022 So excited that we will be opening our doors again from the 13th of June Stay tunes for more details! #activeep #crossfitsapphire #thankyougladys #gymsaresafe #exerciseismedicine #bega

03.01.2022 Our gym will be closed until NSW Lockdown restrictions are lifted, but we are back coaching online again from Monday. Fingers crossed the lockdown doesn’t last too long, but we’ll stay in the online world while ever we need to. In the meantime, keep moving

02.01.2022 5yrs as a CrossFit Sapphire Affiliate This week we celebrate 5 years since we ran our very first CrossFit Sapphire session after an easy decision to add CrossFit Sapphire to the services we offer at @active_exercise_physiology. We have loved watching our community grow in many ways - in their belief in themselves and in their skills and abilities, but best of all, growing together as a community who start out for the training but end up with a new bunch of mates both ...in and out of the gym. Over the years we’ve competed in 5 CrossFit Opens, gone on road trips to regionals, sanctionals and semifinals, watched our CrossFit Kids grow into CrossFit Teens, moved facilities, survived bushfires, trained online during lockdown and trained with masks on, but we just keep getting it done and enjoying the challenges life throws at us. A massive thank you goes to our CrossFit programmer, @clinto_81 and to the team of CrossFit Sapphire and Active EP coaches who have helped us build over the years including @alanabanana84 @chikkala94 @georgiawills__ @romycook, Jake and Michelle Looking forward to the next 5 years Cheers Kim If you are keen to become part of our awesome Active EP/ CrossFit Sapphire community, check out our July offer for new members by clicking learn more below

01.01.2022 We’re Back!! After 5 weeks at home and 78 live Zoom sessions later, this arvo we reopened our doors to our crew Coach Clinto didn’t take it easy on us for the first CrossFit Sapphire session back, ripping it into us with airbike, TTB, wallballs & burpee over bar, reminding us what we missed out on training in our lounge rooms.... Fingers crossed we get to keep the doors open now for a long time to come We can’t wait to see rest of your friendly faces on Monday!

01.01.2022 On Saturdays, in our CrossFit Sapphire sessions we focus on conditioning. Today’s interval targets were a little bit , but why would you miss the opportunity to tackle the Rogue Echo bike and see who comes out on top

01.01.2022 What a champion effort! Today our coach, @alanabanana84 did 1534 burpees throughout the day ! Yep you read it right, she did them ALL today, supporting the @burpeebouncebackchallenge and raising $1145 toward youth mental health ! She might love burpees and a challenge, but there’s not many people who’ll commit to the task and complete it with relative ease. Good work Alana and thanks to all our clients who supported her in raising the $$

01.01.2022 We’ll miss you Kelly but are so excited for you and your next adventure! For the last few years we have had the pleasure to hang out with and train Kelly 4-5 times a week, and she never ceases to amaze us other her natural athletic ability and determination to succeed. Over the years she has won many of our client awards, participated and completed CrossFit Open competitions, pump our 130kg deadlifts , made new mates and become part of the furniture at the gym. As she ma...kes the move to Melbourne this weekend, today we had 15 people choose to come and train with Kelly for her last session, participate in the WOD of her choice despite her picking a filthy workout and wish her luck for the future. As well as Anneliese and I, I know your special gym buddy Michelle is going to miss your happy face in the gym each week. But for now, we’ll just see you on Zoom instead . Good luck @kelly.williams.7330! See more
