23.01.2022 Mission Tip: Walking in the Rainy Its raining today. That means water puddles around. I cant stress enough how important it is not to run in puddles. Puddles = unknown. You could injure your foot or ankle on uneven surfaces. Wear shoes with good grip. If youre walking on slippery tile surfaces, shoes with good grip will save you from slipping away. So please - walk slowly, avoid puddles and wear shoes with strong grip. ... Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Over and out! The Foot General
23.01.2022 "Mission Report: Delsies Forgotten Pain Meet Delsie. Shes 84. Delsie is a lovely person with a beautiful soul. Sadly, Delsie has always struggled to walk due to pain in her feet.... I discovered a corn on her foot. I asked her how long she had the corn for. She said she lost count but it was several years of pain. Several years of suffering. Can you believe it?! After initial treatment, she felt instant relief. But it was temporary. In the long term, I told Delsie that she needs regular prophylactic foot care which includes wearing good cushion support shoes. Itll take time and teamwork but it could be done. Fast forward three years on and Delsie walks like she has never walked before. I remember vividly Delsie telling me: Doctor I completely forgot about the corn in my foot. Ive forgotten about all those painful years because I can finally walk properly again thanks to you. Its moments like these that remind me why I do what I do. Its a service money cant buy. Im no lifesaver. Im the Foot General looking out for all my foot soldiers. Delsie my beautiful foot soldier, walk on! Consented by Delsie Over and out! The Foot General "

22.01.2022 ### Public Service Announcement: The 'Expensive Sneaker Disease' is Spreading ### Yeap, it's actually a thing. 'Expensive Sneaker Disease' is the phenomenon of people suffering foot injuries and problems from wearing inappropriate footwear for the activities they wish to perform.... More often than not, fashion is to blame. But fashion shouldn't come at the expense of function. A trend I've noticed is more and more people wearing minimalist running shoes. In other words, some people wear casual shoes for physical activity. That's a problem. The three common issues I see with using particular sneakers for physical activity are: 1. Low pitch - increases load on Achilles and calf 2. Wrong width - causes corns, calluses and bunions 3. Unstable footwear - all sorts of problems A colleague in the industry put it nicely: "While they may look good, wearing Gucci trainers to go for a run is like buying a Ferrari and putting a two-stroke engine under the hood. You just wouldn't do it. So why do it to your feet?" Feet over fashion! Over and out! The Foot General

21.01.2022 Mission Report: Joanne the Adventurer Meet Joanne. Shes an adventurous women. So adventurous that she travels often with her husband. She even speaks three languages. ... Almost two years ago, Joanne first visited me. She had ingrowns and was worried about them. She disliked the appearance of her toenails. Anyone who has ever had an ingrown knows how uncomfortable it can be. Fear not I told her - its right down my alley of expertise. So I gave her some good prophylactic foot and nail care. The treatment went well. I was curious and asked Joanne how she found out about me. She replied: Well doctor, my friend Lynne is one of your patients. Lynne told me how great you are and passionate about your work. Lynne says youve helped me heaps. I was astonished at her endorsement of you so I had to call and book an appointment immediately. I was suffering with a similar situation for years with no solution. It has been almost two years and Joanne is a regular. I enjoy hearing her pain-free travel stories and adventurous holidays. Joanne is one happy foot solider. I get great satisfaction out of seeing her happy and enjoying her life. Over and out! The Foot General (Consented by Joanne)
20.01.2022 "Meet Elizabeth AKA Liz, Shes 92.... Liz is cool. Why? Well for starters she rides a scooter. She has been a patient of mine for the last 2 years. One day Liz asked me: ""Dr Said, I really want to walk again properly but Im not happy with my shoes."" I asked her what the problem was. She said it was painful to walk in her shoes. I examined her shoes and discovered the root of the problem. The shoes were worn out. They had no support and no cushioning. I was mortified. How could Liz walk around with confidence with these?! So I ordered two suitable pairs of shoes that would accomodate her feet. It was one black and one white pair. When they arrived at my clinic, I couldnt wait for Liz to pick them up. So I visited Liz in her home and dropped them off myself. The joy on her face was priceless. She tried them on and was ecstatic. Liz walked around the house with her newfound babies. Fast forward two months later - Liz paid me a visit. She ordinarily would park her scooter in front of my clinic and enter. But when she arrived, her scooter was nowhere to be seen. I asked Liz where it was? She said: ""Dr I parked it further down and walked."" You couldnt wipe the smile off my face. After the appointment, I walked with her back to her scooter. I couldnt be prouder. Liz can ride. Liz can walk. A riding walking foot soldier! Consented by Elizabeth Over and out! The Foot General "

16.01.2022 : "Mission Report: Late Night Home Procedure - Remove Painful Ingrown I was at home relaxing after a busy day at work. I got call from a new patient. She was distressed. She said she couldnt sleep because her big ingrown toenail was throbbing in pain. She tried several times to sleep through it but couldnt. Worst still, she said she had an important function the following day. ... So out I went. Her husband greeted me at the door and thanked for me coming at such a late hour. I calmed her down and reassured her that shell be fine. I took out my utensils and began the procedure. I removed the ingrown and put it in its rightful place - the rubbish bin. I then cleaned up the wound. She was relieved. She couldnt thank me enough. It was the least I could do. Foot General by day and...on occasion...Foot General by night. 16.01.2022 ### Warm and Fuzzy Post ### Meet Marion. She is 86. ... Marion's daughter first called me many years ago and said she is worried about her mum's feet. My first impression of Marion was memorable. She had a radiant smile and a quiet personality. She really left an impression. After her first treatment, she thanked me and left with an even bigger smile. For the next 4 years, Marion continued to visit. We have wonderful conversations about life and nature including beautiful rainforests and beaches. Mario has a gentle soul and always wishes for peaceful and joyous moments. 15.01.2022 Meet Kai. Kai is a hard working uni student who is studying exercise physiology. He is a very active person and loves his sports. I remember Kai called me and was worried about his big toenail. He told me that he struggled to walk with closed shoes especially when going to university and playing sport. ... What puzzled me is that he had already gone to a few GPs about this issue. They tried to fix it but made it worse by just giving him antibiotics to fix the problem. Surprise surprise - it didnt! So Kai booked an appointment with me. I assessed his big toenail and saw that it was infected and swollen. The size of his big toenail was twice the size of an ordinary toenail. It was really disturbing I told Kai hell likely need a small surgery. I told him about pros and cons of the Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA) surgery. He agreed to proceed. On the day of the PNA surgery Kai was naturally nervous. So I tried my best to keep Kai calm and assured him Ill do my best to remove the ingrown and hopefully restore his toe to be pain free. The PNA surgery was successful and after two post surgery visits, the Kais toe looks amazing and is healing well. What does one do with a fresh pain free big toe?! Go on holiday of course. 10.01.2022 MEET Hana! Report: Hanas Sore Heel Hana come in to see me about her sore heel.... For those who dont know - Hana owns and runs a wonderful cafe called Way to Live just down the road from my clinic. her sore heel was severely affecting her work and training. It was painful and at times unbearable to stand on. Hana is also a fitness nut - she is active and loves cycling. I Love hearing from hana about natural healthy remedies of home made cook food. I told as an immediate remedy to provided low dye trap with sports tape. I did a Figure-8 Hilllock on her foot. This provided temporary pain relief. The real challenge is the long-term remedy. So Ive gave her four key treatments: 1) Stretching and strengthening. She will focus on Foot intrinsic muscles as well as focusing on the calf muscles. 2) No running and reduce standing long hours at work. I know Hana - sorry about this one but its important. 3) Footwear advice: Something more supportive that is anti- pronation - basically to ensure her foot doesnt roll inward. e.g asics, mizunos, brooks etc. 4) Customised made orthotic with a Plantar accommodation and heel cushioning. The aim of this is about using the foots intrinsic muscles to help to reduce pain and give her the ability to train and work gradually. As you can see, Hana is one happy little Vegemite picture. She has customised orthotics. Importantly, she has been doing all her treatments. Now shes finishing work at her cafe without any pain. A last important advice was given to hana that heel pain has no cure. Its just pain management and reduction. Just like looking after a beautiful house. You want to regularly do maintenance around house to keep it clean and spotless. This is just the same with heel pain. Maintenance*** Advice of the Foot General is gold, just saying. Go forth and cycle away Hana! Consented by Hana Over and out! The Foot General

09.01.2022 : "Mission Report: Paul The Happily Jealous Husband Meet Paul and Sia. Yeap theyre an item. A beautiful Greek couple of many years.... Sia booked an appointment with me to check her toenails. She was worried about them. Sia popped in with Paul. I began treating Sias toenails and noticed that Paul was watching in amazement. He was sitting across the room and was analysing everything I was doing. Sias problem was resolved. I finished. But Paul had a bone to pick. He said jokingly: ""Doctor my wife has young new feet and my feet look old."" ""Doctor can you do the same for my feet. I feel left out."" I smiled. ""Of course I can Paul."" So I treated Paul and gave him a fresh set of feet. After I was done, Paul immediately put his shoes on and walking around the clinic. I asked him what the rush was? 09.01.2022 "Mission Report: A Yeap of Faith for Jeff and Joy Meet Jeffery and Joy Yeap. Jeff has diabetes. He booked an appointment with me to check out his foot. Naturally, he was worried so he popped in with his wife Joy. ... After assessing Jeffs toes, I was alarmed. Jeff had a diabetic ulcer. His peripheral nephropathy hindered his ability to feel his toes. I was concerned he could lose his big toe! I immediately told Jeff to go to the high risk foot clinic. I informed Jeff about the risks and how to look after his feet. Joy was watching in amazement. She was sitting across the room analysing everything I was doing. Off they went. At the next appointment, both Jeff and Joy returned. To my surprise, Jeffs toe looked better. But it was Joy who caught my attention. She explained to me what happened in the high foot clinic and how Jeffery was so close to losing his toe. She thanked me for helping Jeff. Fast forward a couple of sessionsJeffs big toe was completely healed. Joy said to me jokingly: ""Doctor my husbands feet has healed. He looks younger and its all thanks to you."" Then she added: ""Doctor can you help my feet look as good as Jefferys feet?"" I smiled and said of course I can. So I treated Joy and gave her a fresh set of feet. 06.01.2022 Mission Report: Karens Nasty Big Toe Pain Meet Karen. Shes a hard working mum with a big heart. ... Karen called me one day and asked: "Doctor do you deal with painful bunions?" I told her of course. To my foot soldiers who dont know, a bunion is painful swelling on the first joint of the big toe. As a podiatrist, its my duty to provide both short and long-term treatments to these illnesses. Karen booked an appointment. She limped into my clinic in complete agony. It was nothing I couldnt handle. I prescribed a comprehensive treatment plan for Karen. After an assessment, I gave Karen strict foot intrinsic exercises to do. Id provided similar exercises to patients in the last few months. Other exercises addressed her leg muscles, which were suffering from tightness and low-grade strength. I provided a customised orthotic for Karen, which she happily accepted. She also purchased supportive footwear that I recommended. In all my clinics, I strive to create a supportive culture around my patients. This framework helps to ensure positive outcomes for patients. Fast forward a few months later and Karen walks into my clinic with a smile on her face. It was as if her painful bunions didnt exist. She was thrilled with the progress. She even posted a review to express her enthusiasm. See Reviews Consented by Karen Karen, one happy foot soldier means a happy foot general. Over and out!

06.01.2022 ### Warning: some viewers may find this graphic ### Mission Report: Josh's Shark Tooth Meet 22-year-old Josh the proud landscaper.... When Josh first called me he was in severe pain. He told me he had a very bad Ingrown on his Rigt big toe. He has visited two GPs prior who tried to fix it but made it worse. So Josh's mate, who is a patient of mine, told him why don't you go visit The Foot General. "He's the best podiatrist in town," he told Josh. Josh saw me and I told him he needs surgery. So fast forward a week, Josh has had a PNA (Partial Nail Avulsion) is a procedure done in our Podiatry Clinics under local anaesthetic that permanently removes the portion of toenail that causes probelms. The size of the ingrowns were massive. They looked like a shark's tooth. Josh and I were shocked by the size of it. In the end, I surgically removed the bad boy from Josh's toe. 05.01.2022 Progress Report: Steves Sore Foot Remember Steve. Three months ago Steve came to see me about his sore forefoot. It was painful and swollen. It was severely affecting his work performance. He loved to walk his dog but the walking was so painful he had to reduce it. I prescribed a range of three dynamic treatments for him.... Three months later, Steve came in for a review checkup. Based on early examinations, Steve showed positive signs. His pain reduced significantly by 70%. He has also slowly started to work on his feet again. His foot has gained strength. Why? Steve followed my instructions. He was active with his exercises that I prescribed him. Steve has been doing his exercises, albeit painful, he still did them. This built up his pain tolerance and increased his self-confidence. This is a great outcome for Steve. To be frank, Im not surprised because he followed my advice. I have many patients who come for treatment but dont do their part. You need two hands to clap. Steve is a prime example of a patient willing to change to fix their situation. I always knew he would never give up. Proud of you Steve! Consented by Steven Over and out! The Foot General

05.01.2022 Mission report: Tippy Toeing Haze Ill never forget the day I received a call from Hazes mum. She said my son is autistic and he struggles to walk. She asked: "Doctor can you help him?" It broke my heart. As a podiatrist, I was determined to do everything in my professional capacity to help him. ... I said: "Yes, bring him in immediately". Haze arrived to my clinic. He didnt walk in, he tip toed into my clinic in socks. I asked Hazes mum: "Where are his shoes?" "Doctor I have dozens of shoes at home but its very hard to get him to wear them. Ive tried everything. Nothing seems to work," she said. I assessed Haze. His calf muscles were really tight and toned. (Hence Ankle Equnis)This tightness forced him to tippy toe around. I noticed he kept trying to walk flat but then reverted back to tippy toeing. Hazes autism made communication difficult. So telling him to walk properly was virtually impossible. This was a challenge for me. But I was determined. So I gave Haze specialised exercise programs. This included using ankle foot orthoses (AFOs) with customised orthotics and proper supportive footwear. I told Hazes mum to try this for the next few weeks then come back. Fast forward three weeks later and the result was nothing short of a miracle. Haze was walking on his feet again. See it for yourself. His mother was amazed. It brought a tear to my eye. It was inspirational. With hope and confidence in a proper treatment, results will follow. Ill be following his progress closely over the coming months. Im so proud of Haze. God willing, there will be many more positives to come. Over and out! The Foot General
