25.01.2022 This week is #NAIDOCWeek where we celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. I would like to acknowledge and pay my respects to the traditional owners of the land on which my clinic and home sits; the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. Always was, always will be. Having spent time practicing as a public health nutritionist in Wadeye, NT working with the traditional owners of the land, the Kardu Diminin people, the im...portance of Bridging the Gap when it comes to access and education for good nutrition in remote communities is something that is close to my heart. Good nutrition holds the key to better health and wellbeing. Right now in the Northern Territory, food costs about 60% more in remote communities than in Darwin and 1 in 3 Indigenous Australians living in remote communities runs out of food and has no money to buy more. Poor nutrition & diet are the leading contributors to the health gap. The Bridging the Gap Foundation do amazing work with remote communities like Wadeye. 23.01.2022 Today I will be listening and learning from our First Nations people. I would like to acknowledge and pay my respects to the traditional owners of the land on which my clinic and home sits; the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. Always was, always will be. 23.01.2022 TAKE AWAY IN LOCKDOWN >>>> I know all too well the fatigue of preparing, cooking and cleaning up after Every. Single. Meal. In lockdown. It's easy to get sick and tired of preparing meals. As we can't eat out in Melbourne take away is the obvious alternative. But take away doesn't have to mean unhealthy!! Here is a delicious Iraqi feast my family shared tonight from Free to Feed. Organic Chicken Kofta, White Tabbouleh Salad, Pickled Vegetables Yoghurt, Mint & Cucumber Dip, Aheda’s Green Chilli & Coriander Hot Sauce & Lebanese Flatbread. So good. So healthy.

09.01.2022 First harvest for spring.

06.01.2022 My kids love a chicken drumstick but they can be a bit bland so I tried out this recipe from taste.com.au last night. Oven baked crumbed chicken and Fennel coleslaw, but instead of store bought ranch dressing I swapped it for 50/50 mayo & greek yogurt, a squeeze of lemon juice and some salt and pepper. So often you can recreate popular take away meals like "fried chicken" without the extra calories and still maintain all of the flavour. . https://www.taste.com.au//1a2e4c3b-909c-4eda-997b-a96b24ce

04.01.2022 Nacho's for dinner tonight! Mexican is such a versatile cuisine and great way to get a big variety of veggies into a meal. There are 8 different veg on this table and you can balance out the more calorie heavy elements by using the chilli con carne, cheese, sour cream and chips by loading your plate with salad.
