16.01.2022 CLASS CANCELLATIONS Tomorrow will be our final ActiveMoves classes till further notice. This decision was not made lightly - Im going to miss our team... at coffee there was conversations that members had tears in their eyes knowing that we wont be together for a little while. We are a united community and one that Im extremly proud of. Saying that; with our class demographics and the current climate Ive chosen to act on the side of caution in the hope we can stay happy and ...healthy. Keep an eye on this page for at home work outs and our recommencement date. Im looking forward to it already! Please spread the word for those that don’t regularly use Facebook. Lets keep in touch Jess xx

15.01.2022 Three retired teachers from Heaton Public School reunite at Active Moves.

13.01.2022 Missing you!! At this stage there is no return date for ActiveMoves classes (hopefully I’ll have news soon) due to both restrictions with the fitness industry and the hire of the hall as we comply with government standards. Although some gyms will be offering very limited group sessions etc or outdoor sessions, I won’t be doing this with ActiveMoves. I can’t ensure the same level of safety nor provide the quality of class that I can guarantee in our normal setting and with ...a large group. Part of the ethos of ActiveMoves is that everyone is welcome I don’t want to be turning people away with heavily restricting the numbers of the classes. Although ActiveMoves is not affiliated with the Uniting Church we hire the venue through Adamstown and have always appreciated their support. This statement was recently received; Even though government restrictions are relaxing, we are still waiting on the Uniting Church state office to give us clearance to reopen. They are considering the health and insurance risks of doing so, and are putting together procedures we will need to follow when we do reopen. We don’t anticipate getting this clearance for at least another month, but we will be in touch as soon as we can. We are all keen to get some sense or normalcy returning, but we need to be patient in the meantime. As soon as we get the go ahead, classes will be resuming. In the meantime, please keep checking in on one another. Enjoy walking around your neighbourhood and our beautiful city and hopefully I will have some news soon! There is so much to be grateful for right now, COVID-19 appears to be well managed in Australia, we have been reminded of how wonderful our community is and hopefully you have enjoyed life being a little simpler in this crazy world. Let’s focus on that! Until I can give you a real hug, here’s a virtual one Jess

13.01.2022 This is great!!

12.01.2022 Have a wonderful Christmas ActiveMovers x

12.01.2022 Hello to all our lovely ActiveMovers.... COVID-19 Its a time for us to come together in this unprecedented, evolving and challenging time. Please share this page with other participants as due to our demographic, classes may be cancelled as we will align with guidelines. Saying that; no hugs on arrival Ive decided that we wont be using equipment (just body weight exercises) and doors and windows will be open to increase ventilation. Anti bacterial gel available at sign in.... Lets look after one another: Please do not attend if you are unwell. Anyone coming to or returning to Australia from overseas travel MUST self-isolate for 14 days so PLEASE no class. Stay well, keep smiling and even in this time, we all have so much to be thankful for so lets focus on that Jess xx

09.01.2022 With some participants already practicing social distancing I love get emails like this from Jill and Jim... "Look forward to getting back into it when this mess is over. We are already social-distancing, and have the home gym sorted!"

08.01.2022 You never know when you might need these skills.... FREE CPR training....

08.01.2022 It’s been a great year! Thank you for all your energy. Wishing all our ActiveMover’s a wonderful Christmas break

07.01.2022 Are you due for a screening? Ann-Maree shared this great message today and being Breast Aware is something that we are both passionate about. My Mum had a double mastectomy just over a year ago following the diagnosis of her sister. Both my Grandmothers had breast cancer and it’s prevalent in my extended family. Thankfully my Mum and Aunt have had very positive outcomes from chemotherapy and surgery. I now have annual screenings &/or MRIs.... It’s simple, non invasive and only takes a moment. The women who carry out the screens are caring & make getting your boobies squished between two metal plates as dignified as possible Don’t put it off. Early detection is vital. Know what to look for a new lump in your breast or underarm (armpit) thickening or swelling of part of your breast irritation or dimpling of your breast skin redness or flaky skin in your nipple area or your breast pulling in of your nipple or pain in your nipple area nipple discharge other than breast milk any change in the size or the shape of your breast pain in any area of your breast Have a great weekend & look after those boobies. See you in class on Tuesday. With love, Jess

07.01.2022 Forget the TP, let’s focus on our nutrition and boosting immunity

06.01.2022 This week I received a phone call from one of our participants who hasn’t been able to attend recently because her husband is unwell. She commented on missing the class because she has never met a more welcoming and positive group of people.... And you know what, never have I. First and foremost the goal of the classes is community. The exercise is secondary to everything else. ... In this class you can exercise for 5 or 45min. All exercises are optional and can be modified. You can ask for greater intensity or keep exercising seated and have a chat. One thing I can guarantee from every class is these people will lift you up. Oh and if you love these shirts, you can place an order in class. Don’t they look great!

03.01.2022 Thank you xx Why do birthdays only have to be once a year?!
