23.01.2022 Hi folks, from the staff at ActivPhysio, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and safe and prosperous New Year. There have been a few changes recently. James Murray has resigned from the practice to pursue further studies in Perth, for which we wish him all the very best. Its incredibly admirable when a colleague pursues their passion to better help others. In addition, our admin staff has changed. Margo Hansen, who has been an absolute treasure, has decided to retire. We wish ...her all the very best and cannot thank her enough for her amazing work and dedication. Stepping up to admin duties, Im thrilled to announce, will be Jasmine Buckland! Jazzy, as you well know, is vibrant, kind, and exceptionally qualified, and will bring her light to the practice. Thank you all for once again letting my team take care of you over the last year. We wish you and yours much love and well-being for 2018. Warmly, Damien & the Team at ActivPhysio.

20.01.2022 Happy New Year, all. A little more about James Murray: James completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy in Adelaide.... James is passionate about creating long-term solutions by working collaboratively with patients and using a combination of manual therapy and individualised rehabilitation exercises. He also has a strong commitment in educating patients in order to allow them to self-manage their condition. He is also a member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association. James has also attended the following courses which aided him in providing the highest quality service to his patients: 1. Sport physiotherapy level 1. This course explored the theoretical and practical sides of managing sporting injuries with an emphasis of current research. Valuable information was provided on acute onfield management and travelling with a sports team, as well as a large practical component on taping techniques. 2. Assessment and Management of the Rotator Cuff Master Class with Dr. Chris Littlewood. Dr. Chris Littlewood is a physiotherapist and senior research fellow at the University of Sheffield, UK. He has extensive clinical experience in relation to musculoskeletal disorders and has developed a special interest in the rotator cuff. This International master class was aimed at all clinicians who wished to develop their understanding of the rotator cuff. It provided an opportunity for enquiring clinicians to explore current research findings and what this means for clinical practice. Topics covered included assessment & diagnosis, understanding pain, and treatment/ management. 3. Mastering lower limb tendinopathy delivered by Peter Malliaras, Physiotherapist, PhD, and tendinopathy clinician-scientist. Peter has a respected international research profile, and is consulted by many people for a second opinion regarding their tendon injuries, including elite athletes and performers. In this course Peter introduced a rehabilitation and management model for all the commonly injured tendons in the lower limb, including the Achilles, gluteal (aka trochanteric bursitis), hamstring, patellar, tibialis posterior, plantar fascia. This course allowed clinicians the opportunity to develop highly effective clinical reasoning and practical skills and to master the assessment and management of patients with tendinopathy. 4. Pilates for the older person This course covered the principles of movement using Pilates, contraindications to movement for older adults and basic exercises. It discussed where Pilates fits into exercise guidelines for older adults and demonstrated how to design a practical Pilates program for both healthy older adults and for special populations (older adults with pathology, increased falls risk and/or cancer survivors). James looks forward to continuing his education in 2017 to maintain the clinics high quality patient care. See more

10.01.2022 Hi folks! I thought perhaps a quick word on the current COVID-19 situation would be appropriate. Its important at this time that we health professionals follow the guidelines set out by our professional bodies as this situation evolves. As such, at this time, Physiotherapists are considered part of "essential services" and will remain operational. To that end, we need you to keep us safe as well. Please be vigilant - if you have had contact with a person who has been co...nfirmed positive for COVID-19 or suspected of being exposed, please DO NOT come to the clinic and follow isolation guidelines. Its also important that we keep a cool head in these times. There is NO NEED to panic, just be sensible and well all get through this. If you are feeling unwell, regardless of COVID-19, please call the clinic and cancel or move your appointment. Be kind to one another, and stop buying toilet paper for goodness sake...Theres plenty to go around for everyone. Were not going to starve or get gastro. Essential services like shops will stay open. I would urge you all to simply buy what you need, not what you think you MAY need. The world isnt going to end. Oh, and wash your hands. See you on the other side!
