22.01.2022 Gratitude is an attitude, a choice and a habit. It's something we LEARN to do and be. Act Knowledge co-founder Jürgen Oschadleus recently completed the certification program to facilitate the Gratitude Leader Lab, developed by "The CultureWorks". This one-day workshop equips you to identify how and when to express gratitude - to your staff and clients, your family and anyone else with whom you interact. Discover how to change your mindsets and learn the skills of being intentional yet authentic in expressing gratitude. Contact us to find out more, or call us in to change the culture of your organisation.

18.01.2022 Looking forward to joining Project Management South Africa (PMSA) again - the last presentation there was a decade ago, following the very successful 2010 FIFA World Cup. How the world has changed since then; this presentation will provide some pointers on how to navigate into the future when the world seems to be shrouded in fog. Looking forward to seeing you there... https://pmsa2020.eventify.io
18.01.2022 While out for a walk this lovely spring morning, I was reminded that many times we find ourselves in situations where things don't seem too clear. Where are we going? What are we trying to accomplish? How will we get there? How do we find clarity? Our project management training utilises a framework of four broad 'types' of project, based on the clarity we have around our objectives and the manner in which we plan to achieve them. Of the four, the one depicted here is perhaps... the most difficult to deal with. It is what Eddie Obeng (All Change! The Project Leaders Secret Handbook, 1994) referred to as a "walk in the fog" project: there's no clarity about our objectives, purpose or activities. Nothing seems very clear, but we know we have to do something. Is that the project you're working on right now? Perhaps its even a season of life in which you find yourself. If that's you, stay tuned for a new series starting soon, where we consider the four types of project and what we can do to navigate our way to success in each of them ...

14.01.2022 Stakeholder engagement is a crucial part of every project and program. Our tour of the Captain Cook Graving Dock at Garden Island was a real eye opener in just how difficult this task can be. When you have multiple layers of internal management, external contractors, commercial customers, huge sums of money, national defence, residential neighbours, long lead times, individual health and safety and so many other factors at risk, there are sure to be massive challenges in man...aging the interests and needs of everyone concerned. Today we got just a little glimpse of just how challenging it can be, and why it's so important to foster positive, collaborative relationships, rather than confrontational approaches. Massive shout-out to @TheAIPM, Defence and Thales for arranging the day, and to all the staff who gave up their time to walk us through the Dockyard Capability Maintenance Program and the challenge of carrying out remedial works whilst keeping the facility operational. We appreciate all you do!
09.01.2022 Worth a reminder - to great harmony we need people to take up all the necessary team roles, not only the "glamorous" ones.

07.01.2022 You have to love technology and how it captures our words for posterity. Written in November 2013, this article scoffs at the suggestion that the workplace in 2020 would be any different from what it was in 2013. True, "2020 vision" as a metaphor for far-sightedness ended up not being so good. While it be a better one for hindsight? https://workplaceinsight.net/2020-vision-is-a-useless-meta/
