25.01.2022 A fabulous sounding project: link to register for the online launch: https://aarts.net.au/news/artscreen-2021-launch/ ArtScreen 2021 a new video art initiative for artists with disability is set to be launched online on Wed 2 Dec at 10:30am, the day before this year’s International Day Of People With Disability. ArtScreen 2021 is a program of Accessible Arts with the support of various government, community and industry partners. The launch of the initiative will also feature the world premiere of new video artwork LITTLE THINGS MATTER, a provocative social critique of the dehumanisation of people with dwarfism created by NSW artist Debra Keenahan which was produced through this year’s edition of ArtScreen with support from the City of Sydney.

25.01.2022 A great read for people who are self managing their ndis plans... thankyou @thegrowingspace

25.01.2022 We hope you are all staying safe regardless of where you are. Some people who have a disability are alone and very vulnerable at times like this. Make sure you have a plan and can evacuate if need be. Previously, the Fire Services had a list for vulnerable people to be on in times of emergency so they could be flagged for evacuation, but no longer. Below is a link to a Red Cross Register where you can put your name or a loved ones name to keep track of them if they go to an evacuation centre. This photo is from my front yard in the Megalong Valley, Blue Mountains. Thinking of all our participants in the area. Please reach out if you need help and stay safe! From Fiona and Suz - Act on Ability Directors. https://register.redcross.org.au/

22.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS The Government has released their response to the Tune Review and *every* recommendation has been "supported" or "supported in principle". Thi...s includes: FLEXIBILITY ACROSS CORE & CAPACITY BUILDING Improving the speed and quality of NDIA decision making, with a Participant Service Guarantee. Outlining when Support Coordination should be funded and when it should be delivered by an independent provider Giving plan managed participants the same flexibility as self managers Better guidance around access requirements for people with psychosocial disability and much, much more. This is a really positive, BIG step forward for the NDIS and will hopefully lead to a lot of improvements in the participant experience of Scheme. Well share a complete analysis of the announcement early next week. You can read the full report here: https://www.dss.gov.au//australian-government-response-tun image desc: gif of Will Ferrell in the movie Anchorman (a man with a very 70s moustache) sitting in a chair and nodding three times with the text "agreed". The "agreed" text briefly disappears and he looks a bit more skeptical, which we reckon is what "supported in principle" would look like if it were a facial expression.

20.01.2022 National Reconciliation Week for our Indigenous brothers and sisters is approaching (27 May- 3 June); with this years theme being something we can currently ALL relate to In This Together. Its a great time to be revising our attitudes and approach to all humans in these troubled times, and challenging our own and the beliefs of others. Disability should be viewed as a valued aspect of diversity that in turn enriches communities. Valuing and not just accepting disability is something we should all be thinking about. https://probonoaustralia.com.au//we-all-contributed-to-th/
