25.01.2022 Rogaining goes bush! ACTRA returned to physical events on a small scale over the weekend at Kowen Forest with results now online. Don't worry if you weren't able to make it, you can do the event as a virtual event for the next few weeks. Maps are on the website to download and print, or limited stocks at Paddy Pallin. https://act.rogaine.asn.au//60-2020-night-day-cycle-result

23.01.2022 Thanks to many of those attempting the virtual Kowengaine who have reported some problems getting MapRunF to detect control sites, incl the start. In some cases runners have had to walk at least a 20m radius around the tape to get a ping, esp on less well defined landmarks like the spur or the gully (eg #71, 73, 81). At 101 it even looks like the centre of the circle for MapRun purposes might actually be in the dam :( There's not a lot we can do about this now, but it's good to know the tapes are still there and a good time can still be had in the forest as we slowly come out of hibernation...

23.01.2022 The Winter 4 hour virtual rogaine in Jerrabomberra and Queanbeyan has now finished after running for an extra two weeks due to popular demand! It was a rogaine for everyone with a little bit of everything, from trails to footpaths, hills to flats, tracks to bushbashing. Well done to all who entered and we hope you enjoyed it each time you went out there. We are currently putting together the results and will publish them shortly! In the meantime, entries for our 2020 Night/Day/Cycle Rogaine are open!

22.01.2022 Some more great pics from John Harding from the bush land in the SE of the course of the Jerrabomberra/Queanbeyan virtual rogaine. Thanks John!

20.01.2022 We’re almost ready to welcome you back to ACTRA rogaining at Kowen Forest this weekend. Please check the website for final instructions, bring your completed indemnity forms and obey COVID restrictions when you get there - especially keeping your distance at the start and finish. When arriving for either the Night event or the Day events please watch out for kangaroos on the Sparrow Hill entry road. Organisers saw several on the road this evening.

19.01.2022 More Rogaining ahead: the chance to record an official result for the Jerrabom/beyan virtual rogaine is put to bed after this weekend, but ACTRA is planning to hold the annual night/day/cycle event as a real-ish event on the weekend of 15/16 August. Keep an eye on this page and our website for more details in the next few days - or if U R @ ANU contact your IB coach

19.01.2022 After the success of the Mt Rogers Rogaine, we are pleased to announce we are putting together another virtual rogaine! This one is 4 hours, the virtual course encompassing Queanbeyan, Jerrabomberra and lots of surrounding bushland. You can have a go any time from Saturday 11th July to Sunday 19th July. More to come!

14.01.2022 Entries are now open! A lovely area of unburnt open bush with lots of controls waiting for you to find them and an updated map. Get your bush camping weekend action on now!

12.01.2022 ACT 8 hr & 24 hr events POSTPONED until 7-8 November. It has been very wet this week and with more rain forecast between now and Sunday the creeks on the course are very high and are potentially dangerous to cross. We also have a high risk of not being able to access most of the course to put out water drops and do the safety patrols. If you can't come next weekend see the website to email the organisers for a refund. If you can now come to the event - awesome! We will re-op...en entries until next week for you to enter. Check out Spring Creek at a low flow and look at the flow marks on the banks...we don't think David would be crossing here today or on Saturday.

11.01.2022 Can you help out at the ACT Champs on the weekend 31 Oct - 1 Nov? We need admin volunteers to ensure registration and finishing goes smoothly to keep us COVID-safe, and also control collectors after the event. Please contact Julie Quinn https://act.rogaine.asn.au/committee/3-julie-quinn.html

09.01.2022 Ready to rogaine! See you all tomorrow at Yanununbeyan.

09.01.2022 We sadly announce the "Back to the Bay" rogaine is cancelled. Just when we were all starting to get excited about a trip to the coast, public health advice in NSW around community sport just issued states "Cease activities that result in the mixing of participants and staff from different regions" for at least the next 6 weeks. We hope to be able to reschedule this event some time in the future. https://www.sport.nsw.gov.au//CHO%20Letter%20to%20Communit

09.01.2022 B’ding - if you haven’t heard it yet, that’s the sound of the MapRun app (even in the rain) confirming you have found the control sites on ACTRA’s latest virtualgaine. Thanks Thomas Banks for setting a challenging cross-border course covering new destinations across Queanbeyan and Jerrabomberra.

03.01.2022 LAST CHANCE - just over 24 hours left (until 11.59pm Thursday) to enter the night event for the Kowen Forest rogaine on Saturday 15 August. NB ANU students: as IB has now been cancelled you may enter the night event if you want to (within our 100 person limit). Thanks to the nearly 100 people who have already entered on Sunday for the foot or cycle events - entries are now closed for that day. Final instructions are available from the event website this evening. As you can see from the attached photos you can expect it to be a bit wet under foot/tyre this weekend, so plan your wet weather gear appropriately. (Photos also give an indication of the COVID-safe contactless navlight mounting arrangement.) Everyone else: stay tuned for more information about a MapRun option once the event finishes on Sunday.

03.01.2022 HH site looking good!

03.01.2022 Entries are open for the Queanbeyan Virtual Rogaine. Sign up and enter by 6 July 2020 to be eligible for category awards and prizes.

02.01.2022 Good news for those planning on giving the Kowengaine a go this long weekend (in preparation for ACT Champs at the end of October) - more maps are now available at Paddy Pallin, Braddon. The latest stock is not waterproof, which shouldn’t be a problem for Saturday and Sunday, but if your plan is for Monday you might want a map bag or some contact. Paddy Pallin
