25.01.2022 I think this video is incredible. It shows how a tilt in the pelvis can even affect the neck and head. It is all connected! When one part of your body is injured, other parts are affected also. This is the basis of how Acupuncture and Trigger point therapy works. The body is amazing! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCF_tTnwrulnGf-fOnSmMZ6g

23.01.2022 Many of my clients are very familiar with my Poo chart and I am often also known as ACUPET Poo Vet and You are not what you eat, but what you eliminate So here is one stool chart for the season! The edible version! Merry Christmas to all my friends, family, clients and patients!! :-P

23.01.2022 Just to let everyone know that we are finally being connected to NBN today so our email addresses with Optus will become obsolete as we will go with a different provider. Please use my hotmail address instead: [email protected]

23.01.2022 Well today is the start of my new room at Greencross Jindalee. I have moved into the old surgical theatre/store room/ ultrasound room. This makes it possible for my old room to be used permanently as a fourth consult room by the general practice, as they are getting busier all the time. What is more it can now be the dedicated cat consult room with its own waiting room area. It will be a little more tricky for clients to get to my new room as we need to go through one of the other consult rooms or use the side entrance but my visits are only every hour so this should be fine. The new room is enormous and has all my Physio equipment, skeletons, muscle models etc in it. It is so wonderful and it has its own air conditioner which will make it super comfortable also! So excited with the change!!

22.01.2022 Slick the gorgeous 16 year old Pug loving his acupuncture. He is so beautiful

22.01.2022 Christmas Hours: Last consulting day this Saturday 21st December, back on Saturday 4th January 2020. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all my clients and patients. May the New year bring rain where it is desperately needed.

21.01.2022 Superb video explaining Cruciate ligament injuries, surgical techniques and knee anatomy in the dog.

20.01.2022 How amazing is this? Acupuncture on a Koi fish with back problems in Thailand.

20.01.2022 For all of my veterinary friends and colleagues just to let you know that my best friend Dr Mark Hocking is again doing a workshop for the current IVAS students and any interested vets and I will be assisting. For details please contact the College direct.

18.01.2022 The most frequent question I get asked about acupuncture is how will my animal react and how do you keep them still for it? Pousha thought he would demonstrate how much he enjoys the experience! No sedation just lying there in a vet clinic with a bunch of needles in him, sound asleep for most of the treatment. He comes in every three weeks and that way he keeps very mobile and pain free. If we leave it longer he gets grumpy with his sister and sore. The perfect patient! Cats are honest creatures and if something is not right for them they are not afraid to tell you!

18.01.2022 Great article! https://todaysveterinarypractice.com/use-of-acupuncture-fo/

17.01.2022 This cute little guy called Nelson had Acupuncture, Laser and Trigger Points treatment today. He was so scrumptious and wonderful to treat. I am so lucky to be able to work with beautiful animals every day!

16.01.2022 Took a while but finally had some uniforms done with the new logo.

15.01.2022 Todays acupuncture session with Ned, Captain Prickle Pug as Mum calls him. He is so sweet!!

15.01.2022 Acupuncture should come with a warning: it causes pugs to melt... too cute Mr Samson

14.01.2022 Fun fact: Acupuncture needles are sometimes described as a painless needle due to its small size and blunt tip! (Yue, Guyer, Johnson, Khoo & Hochschuler, 2011). https://www.sciencedirect.com//medicine/needle-acupuncture

14.01.2022 For my clients especially the ones with canine athletes. I will be one of the Teaching assistants at this course also, so I will be there to look after them also: CANINE VOLUNTEERS WANTED! We are looking for canine volunteers to help in the VetPrac Canine Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Workshop in St Lucia, Brisbane.... VetPrac is hosting a workshop for experienced veterinarians and physical therapists and we would like to invite dogs who are comfortable being handled and touched on their limbs and spine to join us. They must be comfortable with strangers, like lots of pats, cuddles, affection, and attention. Your fur-baby will be walked and cared for with great kindness. Theyre welcome to join us for a portion of the workshop or the full 3-days being Friday 30th August, Saturday 31st August, and/or Sunday 1st September. Sporting, obedience, show, and working dogs (with a calm disposition) are especially invited to volunteer. This workshop is being led by internationally renowned experts from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Florida and this is an opportunity to expose your dog to the attention of rehabilitation and sports medicine specialists. We would be grateful if you could share this information with friends and family. For more information, or to volunteer, please contact Ilana via email to [email protected] with details about your canine-volunteer, your email address and phone number so we can call for a chat and to answer any questions.

14.01.2022 So lovely to let Zippity Do Dah (Zippy to his friends) the Kelpie play with the Rehabilitation equipment today. He is so very clever and fit!!! Loving my new room at Greencross Jindalee so very much, it is so much easier to do this now

10.01.2022 One of those lightbulb days: where you are so close to something and you cant see for looking! So yes apparently having acupuncture done for back pain and sciatica is really great!!! Thanks Stephen Janz you are simply the BEST!!! Pain free for the first time in weeks. In case anybody doubts this stuff: Acupuncture is AAAAAMAZING!!! ps putting this one back up in my consult room. I just love it! An original drawing by one of the very best veterinary cartoonists Robert Johnson who was also AVA President for a few years, a great reptile vet, fellow vet acupuncturist and all round nice guy!

10.01.2022 For my veterinary colleagues and anyone interested in the rehabilitation side of animal care: I am excited to be a part of the teaching team for the upcoming VetPrac/CRI Canine Sports medicine course in August this year. It will be incredible to work alongside the very talented Drs. Chris Zink and Janet Van Dyke together with my Australian Colleague Kim Lim! Very exciting opportunity! For anyone interested please follow this link:

10.01.2022 It was so lovely to treat the gorgeous Sophie today post cruciate ligament surgery. She looked so cool with her Laser glasses. Thankfully they come in four sizes.

09.01.2022 I love hearing how well my patients feel after they have had a treatment. This gorgeous little guy Nelson, whom you met last week, has been feeling much better since the treatment last week. He is now jumping up on high surfaces and joining his sister on ledges and great vantage spots, much to her disgust! He had Acupuncture Needles, Laser, Trigger point therapy and soft tissue manipulation for his back pain and iliopsoas muscle tear last week. Stories like this absolutely make my day and make my work so rewarding and enjoyable!

09.01.2022 Just found this great clip about acupuncture and how it works. Stephen Janz is my own acupuncturist and I recommend him and his clinic Kenmore Centre for Health highly if anyone would like personal acupuncture. Great research also done at The Wesley Hospital using Functional MRI imaging as to how Acupuncture works. Worth watching! <3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SHreW9TjGQ&feature=youtu.be

09.01.2022 So often I get asked how do animals react to having acupuncture, will they sit still etc. I do everything possible to make acupuncture as relaxing as possible for them. For cats it often helps to have their own bedding. In this case Twilights Mum was most worried that she would not sit still or tolerate needling. First she watched her brother have acupuncture. He is very calm and relaxed during acupuncture. When it was her turn we simply took the roof of her cat carrier off and she slept most of the time. Mum was amazed! They are both perfect patients.

08.01.2022 Brochure of the course: https://www.vetprac.com.au//Canine-Sports-Medicine_2019_br

08.01.2022 I havent posted any photos of my consulting room since I first moved in. It is a lot more homely now and it is such a superb space to work in. All the toys and best equipment at hand now! Including the latest: a Pulsed Electro-magnetic field therapy bed for pain relief and healing.

08.01.2022 You know you have been doing Acupuncture for a long time, when the puppy that replaced the old dog you first treated when doing the acupuncture course, is now an old dog too, which needs acupuncture now also. And every day I hear just how few vets do acupuncture and just how far people have to travel to see me. Todays furthest was 2 hours from Toowoomba but to see the change in that dog after just one treatment is amazing and it is that, which will keep me doing this for as long as I can! Love my job!!! And the photo is of some needles after I treated a canine athlete with great muscle tone and severe muscle spasms. We often see this in horses but not so much in dogs really!

05.01.2022 For my veterinary colleagues in late August the wonderful Dr Chris Zink is coming back to Australia to teach the Canine Sports medicine course for Vet Prac. Here is a link to a video about the course. I will put a link to the course in the comments also. I will be a teaching assistant for this course. There are only 10 places left for this course.

03.01.2022 My beautiful patient Chloe the Cavalier is so very photogenic and such a lovely patient. She is showing everyone how she has Acupuncture and Laser treatment in the Covid world. It feels so good to be at work and to be able to make a difference for animals in pain. So lovely to hear for example how animals are able to get up more easily, be playful again and not sore the following day and being able to go for walks again. I am so fortunate to be able to work with beautiful patients such as Chloe and her wonderful owners. Business is slowly picking up again after Covid-Quiet times. I practice according to government regulations, including me wearing a mask during the consultations. Thank you to Chloes mum for the lovely photos.

02.01.2022 Excellent information. Injuries take a long time to heal and appropriate rehabilitation is vital!

02.01.2022 Acupuncture is exhausting
