23.01.2022 Student Travel and Training Grant Announcement The Australian Catholic University (ACU) National Student Association (ACUNSA) have opened the Semester 1 2020 Student Travel and Training Grants (STTG)! The STTG open today and will be closing on March 30! ... Here's what you need to know about the ACUNSA STTG: - It is a single $500 grant - There is 35 grants available - They are based off merit - The grant is to be used in relation to your degree! 22.01.2022 BREAKING: Federal Education Minister, Dan Tehan, announces that students will lose their access to the HELP/HECS Scheme if they don't perform in their studies. This mornings announcement means that if a student fails to progress sufficiently in their degree, they will lose access to the HECS scheme, having to pay upfront fees to continue to study or leave their degree. The NUS and ACUNSA rejects the assertion from Minister Tehan that this package is taking action to protect... students and taxpayers. An overwhelming majority of domestic students rely entirely on the HECS system to study. Limited access to study, financial instability, education quality, disability, and the ongoing crisis of mental health in the student body are just some of the impediments to student success. These are issues that are often unreported and receive inadequate support from tertiary institutions or The Government. Students will have the future of their study taken away from them unless they prove to the university or the government, institutions that systematically fail to support young people, that they are struggling. the Job-Ready Graduate Package is promoting a pay for play higher education sector that will put extreme pressure on students to succeed at universities. It is an agenda to incentivize success through fear of punishment, which will only harm the wellbeing and success of our students. Read the NUS full statement below:

21.01.2022 We know we have been MIA for the past few weeks but here is an update of some of the things ACUNSA has been doing: - Weekly meetings with the University Executives and collaborating to provide the best online experience for all students - We are finalising a survey that will be distributed later this week to get a deeper understanding of your online experience so far. We have also had significant discussions with ACU executives about the following:... Extending the census date: - The outcome is that ACU would not extend the Census date but work to personalise their approach for affected student Reducing fees: - It has been put forward and found that online classes cost the same if not more to run than face-to-face so no fees will not be reduced No Fails for the Semester: - This is a target that ACUNSA is working on, keep an eye out for the outcome at a later date. 08.01.2022 In light of the recent COVID-19 situation and the impact on the university, we have listened to your thoughts and concerns surrounding our online education. As your student leaders we want to inspire change and we need your help! Whilst we cannot guarantee change, we as the Student Associations of ACU are here to support you and are seeking your opinions.... ACUNSA is proposing the following Academic Amnesty to the ACU Executives and needs your opinions to help us! The proposed policy will act as a benchmark for a students GPA, so if a student receives a result in a course that is lower than their current GPA, it wont be included in their final calculation (ie. If a students GPA is a 6.5 and they receive a 5.9 in a subject it wont be counted and this includes fails).
