11.01.2022 "A monk decides to meditate alone. Away from his monastery, he takes a boat and goes to the middle of the lake, closes his eyes and begins to meditate. After ...a few hours of unperturbed silence, he suddenly feels the blow of another boat hitting his. With his eyes still closed, he feels his anger rising and, when he opens his eyes, he is ready to shout at the boatman who dared to disturb his meditation. But when he opened his eyes, saw that it was an empty boat, not tied up, floating in the middle of the lake ... At that moment, the monk achieves self-realization and understands that anger is within him; it simply needs to hit an external object to provoke it. After that, whenever he meets someone who irritates or provokes his anger, he remembers; the other person is just an empty boat. Anger is inside me. " Thich Nhat Hanh

11.01.2022 Many people believe that when a treatment has good evidence, then it becomes recommended in healthcare guidelines and then available to the public. But there ar...e so many hidden and subjective factors that influence these recommendations. We can see this in the history of recommendations in the UK's NICE Healthcare Guidelines. - What evidence do the reviewers include and what do they reject? - Who is eligible to be on the Guideline Development Committee? - What is acupuncture compared to in order to show effectiveness? - Are consistent criteria applied to acupuncture's evidence and those of other treatments? - How is 'acupuncture' even being defined? - What are the goals of the reviewers? To reduce medication over-use? To save the health service money? To get their own treatments recommended? Even as the evidence for acupuncture for a wide-variety of conditions has steadily increased over time, it's inclusion in recommendations is never automatically assured. Being aware of all the factors involved can help us to ensure that patients have access to this effective, safe treatment.

06.01.2022 TO MY ACUPUNCTURE CUSTOMERS! As it currently stands under current government directions. law and guidance by FHD, + regulators APHRA & CMBA, acupuncturists can still work and are deemed essential under this banner, as it was for 2020 lockdowns. Acupuncture comes under Allied health, thus there is a whole industry that can work in these circumstances including acupuncturists (not massage therapist or body workers), who can still treat patients if they are in a lot of pain an...d all the check-in rules, distancing, mask wearing are still adhered to. Naturally a lot of people who aren't in tremendous pain will cancel this week, but i encourage all patients to contact me if they wish to cancel or talk their circumstances over. That way i can put all my remaining patients into 2 or 3 spaces per week for this lockdown period. thankyou adam See more
