23.01.2022 Happy #MedComms Day 2021 from Melbourne, Australia! AMC is blessed to be in this industry for 5+ years and counting
21.01.2022 Thank you all who attended the Melbourne HealthCare Drinks event on Thursday 9th November. First Jason Sun gave an overview of the opportunities in the Chinese healthcare market and what Victorian government is doing in this space. Where China has a huge demand for healthcare, Australia is well positioned to address the needs and is globally competitive. Following this framework, Fei Long gave a detailed example of collaboration Australia China Research Accelerator - to f...acilitate Australia-China partnerships in the health sector. It started from ophthalmology, aiming to expand to multiple disciplines. Both speakers shared the wisdom of success as well as pitfalls to avoid. Under Tim Carrolls moderation, we had a heated Q&A session which could go on and on but for time restraints! And of course, the event would not have been possible without the venue sponsored by Melvin Lee at BioClub.

They provide aged care staff training, as well as develop and operate senior living communities. Australian players in this field include South Australia-based Australian Ageing and... Wellness Services (AAWS), Melbourne-based Sapphire International, and Lendlease. This article gives some insightful analysis. https://lnkd.in/eFSGMW9 #China #AgedCare

16.01.2022 WebMD, a leading online health information resource in the U.S., and Tencent, one of Chinas largest technology companies, have recently struck a deal to provide reliable online medical information to Chinese people. Tencent will translate and localise WebMDs high-quality medical and health content, including articles and videos, for the Chinese population. The translated Chinese content is expected to be available by the end of 2018, via the popular WeChat social network. C...hinese consumers are plagued with online health information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading with poor quality. The collaboration is an important step to fill this gap. https://www.scmp.com//tencent-introduce-webmds-content-wec The current situation is also a call out for more qualified bilingual Chinese medical and health writers and translators!

12.01.2022 Chinese is a mysterious language to many. So we created this post to help clarify written and spoken Chinese. Translation converts one written language into another. Simplified and Traditional are the two written Chinese forms.... On the other hand, interpreting converts one spoken language into another. Mandarin and Cantonese are the two main spoken Chinese languages. Have you checked out the quiz in the post? https://www.acuritmedcomms.com//07/29/written-spoken-chin/ #medicaltranslation #MedicalInterpreting

11.01.2022 The Extraordinary Year of 2020 in Review We at AMC have a lot to thank for. In the past year, we continued to work from home and had been busy with a variety of projects despite the pandemic. We remain focused on our key offerings of literature reviews and medical translations covering broad health care fields, all under the umbrella of bilingual English Chinese medical communications.... For medical writing, in particular, we have strengthened the collaboration with a long-term client, Edanz Group, and we look forward to this exciting new phase of collaboration from 2021. Translation wise, we have expanded to do NAATI certified medical translations, as our expert translation team now includes certified translators. Translations include both directions, from English to Chinese and Chinese to English. We translate into/from both simplified and traditional Chinese characters. Regardless of whether you request a certified translation or not, all our translations remain top-notch and we always deliver on time. I directly communicate with you the client for every project. All these amazing things won’t happen but for the tremendous trust from our wonderful clients as well as colleagues who kindly refer us. We had our logo redesigned by a professional graphic designer. Also, I joined the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA), an important step for professional development. Now, I’m better equipped to serve you our clients. One silver lining of the pandemic is the AMWA events are now almost exclusively online. This provides a great opportunity to interact with like-minded professionals regardless of location. It is definitely a plus for me as an international member. Thank You To Our Amazing Clients

09.01.2022 Designer babies The worlds first genetically edited baby twin girls were born in Shenzhen, China, claimed Associate Professor He Jiankui (). The gene edited by the CRISPR-Cas9 technology is CCR5, which will prevent the babies from contracting HIV. His claims have sparked outrage from the Chinese scientific community. Most view the study as scientific misconduct and deeply irresponsible.... Ethics and safety concerns CCR5 has an indispensable role in human immune functions. Knockout of CCR5 gene is not a 100% guarantee of HIV infection-free. The parents recruited to the study were HIV-positive fathers and healthy mothers. They can give birth to healthy children without any need for gene editing. In addition, gene editing can cause unpredictable risks not only to these babies sooner or later but also will affect future generations. Progress Many doubt the authenticity of the ethical committee approval letter. The related university, hospital and government department have all denied any prior knowledge of the research and announced to conduct further investigation. 122 Chinese scientists signed a letter on Monday which strongly condemned this experiment. Your thoughts? #geneediting #ethics

My favourite talk was Building and managing a reputation to attract bigger and better clients by Johnathan Maltby, where he elaborated professional identity and personal branding. I also enjoyed the panel discussion on Working with corporates and government as a freelancer. Although Im already working with several such clients, the panel discussions shed new light, and validated my own un...derstandings. Its great to get out of my own healthcare niche once in a while to interact with other solopreneurs. Thanks Cameron Rambert for organising. #NFDau

06.01.2022 A recent publication on JAMA Network Open found a positive association between Body Mass Index (BMI, indicating the level of obesity) and Blood Pressure (BP) among 1.7 million Chinese adults. The study data were collected across more than 20 000 subgroups from 141 primary health care sites in all 31 provinces in mainland China. The association between BMI and BP is positive across population subgroups in Sex, Age, Income, Occupation, Race/Ethnicity, and Marital Status; Regi...on, Province, Educational Level, Smoking Status, and Stroke History, except for antihypertensive medication use. Although the study cannot establish a causal association between BMI and BP, causality seems quite possible. One way to mitigate the problem is to slow the increase in BMI through public health interventions, and the other is through better treatment of hypertension. #China #PublicHealth

01.01.2022 What is the hottest movie in China right now? It is no doubt Dying to Survive( in Chinese), which came into cinemas nationwide a few days ago. It is a heart-wrenching depiction of life for Chinas cancer patients. ---Currently, China still has huge out-of-pocket drug costs on patients and their families. It is also a rare and bold movie touching on sensitive topics of Chinas social problems. Since its opening, there have been intense discussions on Chinese social me...dia from the angles of consumers, government drug policies and the pharmaceutical industry. In case you are curious, the movie is subtitled entirely in English. https://qz.com//chinas-next-box-office-hit-a-dark-comedy-/ Want to read more on China medical and health topics?
