24.01.2022 About me!!! My name is Thomas Rickard and I’m currently in my 2nd year as an apprentice greenskeeper. The idea for A Cut Above came about when I was doing a job for a mate and after that I realised that people deserve to have a beautiful front yard, or hedge, or pathways free from overgrown grass. All my life I have been an outdoors person between sport and helping dad around the house. For as long as I can remember I’ve helped dad in the yard with either mowing the lawns, mu...lching a garden bed, trimming a hedge or even building a veggie patch. I loved working with dad because I would always feel proud of what we had done and I would always feel like we had the best lawn in the street. 20.01.2022 Just a mow at the Toorak house today. I didn’t cut it last week because of how hot it was later in the week. because the grass was going to be under a lot of stress as a result of the heat mowing it would only add to the plants stress levels, things like this should always be taken into consideration when maintaining a lawn/garden especially when there is limited irrigation. 19.01.2022 Just a slash and mow job done in highett yesterday, took a bit of time to get the height of the grass down and I tried my best not to scalp it. The rule of thumb to avoid scalping your lawn is to remove no more than 1/3 of the grass blade with each cut, this helps keep the grass healthy and allow each blade to hold more nutrients. 16.01.2022 Tree removal job done in Northcote yesterday, bit tricky because the tree had grown over the phone lines so we had to be careful. If you have a tree at home near phone/power lines make sure you trim it regularly to prevent the tree from growing over the lines. 06.01.2022 Hey guys, as most of you would know Australia has been devastated by bushfires over the last couple of months. Because of this we have decided that we will donate 50% of all profit made from today until the end of summer. All money raised will go to the Australian Red Cross to help people who have been effected by the fires. Our goal is to raise at least $500 and hopefully more with your help. So if you or someone you know needs work done to there lawn or garden give us a call or message us. You will have a neat and tidy yard but most importantly it will also help those who need it most. 04.01.2022 As a result of the covid 19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown laws we are sad to say we will cease all lawn care activities indefinitely too keep not just us safe but everyone safe, we all need to play our role to stop the spread of this virus.
