23.01.2022 Half of Wagga turned up in Melbourne this week!

21.01.2022 It's been a few months in the making but yesterday was the Graham Centre for Agricultural Innovation Livestock Forum 2020. For the first time in it's history the conference went online, and as a result they needed a helping hand. Firstly I guided Toni and the team through the complexities of choosing the right platform. We had to weigh up ease of use for new users, ability to cope with slower internet in regional areas and the desire to have registration, ticketing, analytic...s and event delivery all in one package. We settled on BigMarker, perhaps not one of the best known platforms but a very powerful service. I configured, branded and customised the platform and helped the finance team connect it to a third party payment service so they could keep full control of finances. The next stage was to brief and train the presenters and moderators on how to effectively get their presentations across, not just using BigMarker itself but also general tips on how to best present yourself when web-conferencing. I hosted presenter practice sessions and prepared custom training videos. The final few days before the event was spent collating, converting and uploading all of our content into the cloud, one key reason we selected BigMarker was the ability to have all presentation content stored on their servers. It took the load off each presenter and resulted in a smoother experience for all. A few presenters were unable to make it on the day or were travelling with poor internet so I pre-recorded these sessions either remotely or in the studio and these too were played straight from the cloud. The event itself was a huge success, I lurked in the background running the main plenary session and floating between each of the concurrent breakouts, checking in and solving a few tech problems as required. My usual event day job of hunting down presenters to ask them questions or prep them for their next session is a lot easier when the're all sat at home with their phones! Finally since the event finished I have been tidying up the recordings, re-uploading and making them available for the team to host on their website. I can't give away too much of the analytics or post-event survey responses but a surprising percentage of attendees supported the Forum continuing in an online format into the future! Overall it was a well-rounded, satisfying project which has been a rewarding technical and administrative challenge. It has also served as a prime example of the level of support I offer my clients from the first discussions to final event delivery.

21.01.2022 Remote working is about to explode as more and more workplaces send staff home. Organisers of small meetings and conferences also need a basic solution to move online. Zoom is a straightforward and cost effective video conferencing suite which allows conversations between people on a wide range of devices.... Join me to see how to get started in the software, how to arrange and participate in meetings as well as some general video conferencing tips.

19.01.2022 In case you missed it - I was interviewed by Prime7 to discuss how technology is enabling a key regional conference to go virtual. It's been wonderful to work with the Graham Centre for Agricultural Innovation team on this event, not long now!

18.01.2022 My lovely new 65" LCD screens currently getting a work out at the Western Business Forum in Condobolin. Lovely to be here with the smell of rain in the air!

17.01.2022 It's very understandable why so many events have decided to cancel over the last couple of weeks, it's the responsible thing to do and anything done to slow this virus is a positive step. This being said - even if the events need to stop, the need to communicate hasn't. Web conferencing, webinars and collaborative online work-spaces are all now more powerful and affordable than ever. ... Used correctly these can go some way to replacing traditional training sessions, meetings and conferences. It's been a growing trend to have a virtual audience to an event alongside those in the room, as such many of us in the AV industry have gained plenty of experience in the technology and techniques involved. Rather than hunkering down and waiting for this whole thing to blow over please reach out for ideas on how to engage your audience in other ways. We can keep the conversations going.

16.01.2022 No pressure then! This project has been a huge technical and logistical challenge, but we're nearly there! Make sure you don't miss this, not only is it going to be a great example of an engaging online event but it's also packed with some of Australia's boldest and thought-provoking artists and performers.... Platform LIVE

12.01.2022 I’m going to be speaking at @AccessibleArts upcoming FREE ATAG Online meetup on Wednesday 22 July from 10:30am 12pm on Zoom. It’s titled Live-Streaming Accessible Events and I’ll be joining curators and performers from the recent PLATFORM Live online arts festival as we discuss how we approached the complexities of streaming a fully accessible live online multi-arts festival. Produced by Eastern Riverina Arts, PLATFORM Live was a one-day event in June which featured many o...f Australia’s leading artists and performers with disability. ATAG stands for Accessing the Arts Group and ATAGs are meetups for creative industry workers who want to be more inclusive of people with disability in their professional practice. Hope to see you there! https://atagonline22july.eventbrite.com.au #AccessibleArts #atag #disability #arts #platformlive #onlineaccessibility

09.01.2022 One of the best parts of my job is to get out and explore some of our smaller regional towns. Last week I spent a few days in Condobolin for the Western Business Forum. It was great fun working with Shane from Growing Lachlan, here's what she had to say about the event.

08.01.2022 Great to be a part of this discussion this morning, if you missed out you can watch back on the Accessible Arts facebook page :)
