25.01.2022 The Gavin Robertson story is a brilliant one and he tells it so well. From the Centrelink queue weeks after finishing for Australia A in 1995 to the Test team, from nowhere, in 1998. And, in brutal conditions, what a debut performance. One of our best TGSTW chats. #FinalFrontier

23.01.2022 I'm not telling anyone to turn CNN off. But, when you next need a breather, a new Story Time is up. Albert Trott, Norm O'Neill, Blocka Wilson, the Bulawayo draw... - it's all here. Also, 80 mins of POWER with Jarrod Kimber - writer from the Calling the Shots doco. https://omny.fm//the-fina/story-time-23-plus-jarrod-kimber

23.01.2022 I’d classify this as the first proper TFW interview, @dizzy259 at the Adelaide Oval boundary edge the day after the 2017 Ashes Test. Before that, learn about the unluckiest one-Test wonder, Charles Marriott: https://finalwordcricket.com//season-8-encore-edition-jas/

23.01.2022 NEW SERIES: be listening to SEN 1116 with Julian De Stoop at 12:30pm today, Adam Collins will be on to talk about the Test but also our latest series, to be dro...pped on New Years Day #FinalFrontier Subscribe here: https://open.spotify.com/show/3tN8EJkGh6YAU5p5fq9kLT or here https://omny.fm/shows/the-greatest-season-that-was-93

23.01.2022 This was so much fun. The Final Word with the great William McInnes! https://finalwordcricket.com//season-8-ep-15-william-mcin/

21.01.2022 Final Word Weekend Edition (we need a better name for this) with Urthboy! One of our favourite interviews. Enjoy! https://omny.fm//encore-edition-the-final-word-with-urthboy

20.01.2022 News: Pete Handscomb won’t be playing for Middlesex this year in their shortened county season - back to captain 2021 and 2022 instead. Nice chat with him. A bit off the national radar of late, but he’s going well. And crucially, lots of time on his side. https://www.theguardian.com//more-than-the-average-bear-pe

19.01.2022 Alright, Final Word weekend edition. Revisiting our Kate chat from last year, after about 45 minutes of deep cricket numerology, spanning about 130 years. This was fun - get into the mood for a long day of cricket and rain delays with Andre van Troost, Bobby Abel, Sandhya Argawal, Bill Ponsford and Wayne NORMAN Phillips. https://omny.fm//the-final/weekend-edition-with-kate-cross

19.01.2022 Some bonus FW this weekend: the day we sat down with Dave Warner at Durban in Feb 2018. A very interesting time to speak with him. Before the interview, we look at Kim Garth's move and tell the story of AE Stoddart - one of cricket's greatest Ideas Men. https://finalwordcricket.com//season-8-encore-edition-dav/

19.01.2022 Meet Suwanji Madanayake. Made his First Class debut six weeks before the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, and is still going strong at age 47. He's played for 14 (!) First Class clubs in Sri Lanka across 29 years and "about 30" teams all up when you could his many seasons a dominant overseas pro in England and Australia. He'll be still playing at 50. Came up nicely in The Guardian today - https://www.theguardian.com//suwanji-madanayake-the-spinne

17.01.2022 New Final Word! We talk to Nick Hoult about the excellent new book he has co-authored about England’s World Cup win this time last year. https://omny.fm//how-england-won-the-world-cup-and-lost-th

17.01.2022 Was asked by The Guardian to write a quick bit for answering the obvious questions about our Batmobile purchase. My sense is footy fans get it - there isn't much rationality when it comes to how we follow our clubs. Part of the game's charm. https://www.theguardian.com//what-led-me-to-buy-the-gigant

14.01.2022 New ep! Pete Lalor on CA. Geoff and me on plotholes in the Mighty Ducks. Australia A! Boris Johnson’s return to rooting. A bloke who debuted in 1991 and is still going. Plenty of Maxi. It’s 100 minutes of 100% Final Word: https://finalwordcricket.com//season-8-ep-5-big-trouble-/

13.01.2022 TMS is an institution, but it wasn’t always straightforward. Join Daniel Norcross and me - with Jonathan Agnew, Vic Marks and Peter Baxter - for a trip through the 20th century on part three of Calling the Shots! https://omny.fm//the-final-word-cric/calling-the-shots-tms Presented by the excellent Pinch Hitter - check that out from The Nightwatchman

13.01.2022 Off to Southampton for the week to cover the #ENGvIRE ODIs from the bubble for the Irish Times. A quick preview bit in today's paper chatting with 20yo Harry Tector, who is primed to make his ODI debut. Nice nugget: Tector was an exchange student in Jo'burg when he was 15, where he became great mates with South African Curtis Campher, who is also a chance to make his international debut for Ireland today - albeit from a very different path. https://www.irishtimes.com//school-days-over-tector-and-ca

13.01.2022 NEW EP! We’ve been looking forward to this, putting Guardian genius Jonathan Liew to the test. Needless to say, he was very fucking good. And thanks to Dan Brettig for bringing us right up to speed on Jolimont matters: https://finalwordcricket.com//season-8-ep-6-nerd-pledge-q/

12.01.2022 New Final Word! A lot going on, from India's tour of Australia to the WBBL to Boycott (and Morrissey) to the Shield. Then over to South Africa to get to the bottom of their latest board chaos with Lungani Zama. https://omny.fm//th/sacking-south-africa-with-lungani-zama

10.01.2022 The biggest of Jason Holder love-ins at stumps last night on @cricbuzz with Michael Vaughan and me. https://www.cricbuzz.com//holder-showed-why-he-is-ranked-a

09.01.2022 We're proud of this new TGSTW series, dropping through January. Two decades on from the 2001 Border-Gavaskar stunner, we've gone back to chart how the rivalry turned into one of the biggest in cricket. To set the scene, who better than our mate Harsha Bhogle? #FinalFrontier

09.01.2022 New Final Word! It’s one year since the World Cup. Let that sink in. We pop the nostalgia goggles on with Toby Tarrant to reflect on those wonderful seven weeks. https://finalwordcricket.com//season-8-ep-10-the-world-cu/

09.01.2022 It’s like putting a third slice of cheese in the cheeseburger: I don’t need it but it’s going to be good." On this week's TFW, thanks to our pals at Cbus Super..., Geoff explaining the personal reflections in his new book. Listen in full: https://finalwordcricket.com//season-9-ep-11-the-comeback/

08.01.2022 What does the Eiffel Tower have to do with Bodyline? How did a Tokyo-raised preacher and a drunken sailor end up as two of the first radio commentators? Ep 2 of Calling the Shots! With our three superb guests - Jim Maxwell, Peter Baxter and David Frith - Daniel Norcross and I go back to the Interwar period, when cricket on the radio was born. 06.01.2022 Thanks for the feedback on this ep over the weekend - Daniel Norcross and I are chuffed it hit the spot. It's our most detailed ep of Calling the Shots, telling a slightly off-beat tale. It's the story of the disruptors. Enjoy! https://omny.fm//the-fina/calling-the-shots-the-disruptors

05.01.2022 While it rains at Sydney (timeless comment), here’s a Final Word interview with the man carrying the initials - SCG MacGill. Perhaps the most emotional we’ve conducted, Stuart’s love of bowling - for Australia, for NSW, for anyone - has never dimmed. A top man. https://finalwordcricket.com//season-9-ep-15-stuart-macgi/

05.01.2022 Exclusive: the days of on-field umpires being responsible for calling no-balls are numbered. The Independent https://www.independent.co.uk//no-ball-rule-change-tv-umpi

04.01.2022 New(ish) Final Word! Another weekend lockdown encore ep, this time revisiting our long conversation at Ian Chappell's house in early 2019. One of our favourite interviews, he was just as you want him to me: playing all of his shots. Enjoy! https://omny.fm//encore-edition-the-final-word-with-ian-ch

04.01.2022 This is by far the most ambitious project we've attempted across five Greatest Season series. As promised, it's the oral history of the tied #Ninety9 semi - the belated season finale - with SEVEN people who were involved that fateful day at Edgbaston: Lance Klusener, Damien Fleming, Tim Lane, Steve Elworthy, Simon Mann, Tom Moody and Adam Gilchrist. Please do give it a spin... and tell your cricket-loving mates! https://omny.fm//the-greatest-season-tha/12-the-semi-final

03.01.2022 A long time coming, we finally did the Peter Siddle interview. It was worth us waiting a while to do - we're really proud of this. Once again: what a guy.

02.01.2022 Over the years, Wil Anderson has been one of the most loyal supporters of The Final Word. Lovely to give our chat with him another blast on the latest Story Time ep. https://finalwordcricket.com//season-story-time-20-wil-an/

01.01.2022 Dennis Cometti for your Grand Final Eve enjoyment. What a star. #BoundForGlory

01.01.2022 Tuck into this before the Test. I have very little recollection of what nonsense we discussed but I know it was fun. #ENGvPAK https://omny.fm//t/behold-the-week-when-chris-woakes-wakes

01.01.2022 A story I've been meaning to write for a while about the mighty Victor Trumper Cricket Board. An influential place for me as a younger lad, which led towards me getting into Lord's for the first day of the 2005 Ashes. https://www.theguardian.com//internet-friends-great-ashes-
