25.01.2022 Great to take a sneak-peek at the (almost finished) $1 million redevelopment of Central Coast Marine Discovery Centre with Deputy Premier John Barilaro!

25.01.2022 Thank you to the 223 locals who provided their feedback on the upgrade plans for Central Coast Hwy! Earlier today, Paul Toole MP and I released the community consultation report, which provides a response to all of the feedback received. We also announced that the notoriously-busy intersection of Tumbi Rd and Central Coast Hwy will be priority number 1 as part of the $387 million upgrade!... A contract has been awarded to begin the detailed design work immediately. #GettingItDone

24.01.2022 A total of $136.4 million is being offered by the NSW Government to fix local roads... and I spoke in Parliament yesterday about how Central Coast Council needs to apply for our fair share! #GettingItDone

24.01.2022 Vale John Fahey, Premier of NSW between 1992 and 1995, and a Member of Parliament for an extraordinary 17 years. I will always remember the images of Mr Fahey quite literally jumping for joy when Sydney was announced as the 2000 Olympics host. He was a fantastic servant of the people of NSW.

23.01.2022 The Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge turned yellow last night for National Road Safety Week! This is a tribute to people killed on the roads, including 64 on the Central Coast in the last 5 years alone. It’s also a timely reminder that road safety is everyone’s responsibility. ... With the weather warming up, there are more and more people travelling across NSW. We all need to remember that every time we get behind the wheel, the choices we make can have fatal consequences. #staysafe #towardszero #stoprevivesurvive

22.01.2022 Did you know that every single public school on the Central Coast will benefit from FREE TUTORING in 2021? This is a first for our community! To deliver the small-group tuition sessions, the NSW Government is hiring up to 5,000 new staff. ... From today... university tutors, students undertaking their final year of university study, and casual and retired teachers can apply at www.teach.nsw.edu.au/find-te/covid-learning-support-program. This free tutoring for all public schools on the Central Coast will help our local students bounce back after a difficult and disruptive 2020! #GettingItDone

22.01.2022 After visiting Central Coast Stadium last night, Deputy Premier John Barilaro is on the Coast again today. We will be making a number of exciting funding announcements... stay tuned for more information! #GettingItDone

22.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day! COVID-19 has changed life for everyone... so it’s important that not just today, but every day, you look after the mental health of yourself and others. Asking R U OK is a conversation that could quite literally save a life!... Help is always available. The NSW Mental Health Line has been boosted to take 60,000 additional calls during the pandemic... and is contactable 24/7 on 1800 011 511.

22.01.2022 Today is the 19th anniversary of 9-11. Like so many of us I will never forget this day... and how it has changed our world forever.

21.01.2022 In Parliament today, I spoke about some positive reforms being made to the Adoption System in NSW. The reforms include adding a new column to the Birth Certificates of adopted children, and will look just like this Once it passes Parliament, this will allow BOTH adoptive parents and birth parents to be recognised on Birth Certificates for the first time.... I’m so proud of the work that has been done over the last few years to create an open adoption policy in NSW which encourages greater contact between adoptive and birth parents... while also protecting the most vulnerable in our community. #GettingItDone

20.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS today is one of the BIGGEST days since the COVID-19 pandemic began! From Monday, the following COVID-19 restrictions will be significantly eased There will be no limit on numbers at weddings and funerals... Up to 50 people will be allowed to dance at events Up to 50 people will be allowed to sing as part of a choir at indoor events, and an unlimited number of people will be allowed to sing (indoors or outdoors) with a mask on 2 The 4 square metre rule will be changed to the 2 square metre rule for ALL venues except gyms and nightclubs. This means that venue/room capacities can double Standing will be allowed at outdoor hospitality venues The cap on outdoor gatherings will double from 50 to 100 Indoor theatres will be allowed 75% capacity and outdoor theatres/stadiums will be allowed 100% capacity Importantly, these updated COVID-19 restrictions will allow us to live in a COVID-safe way until the vaccine arrives in Australia. However we don’t want to go backwards if there is an outbreak of cases so please don’t be complacent. While the bushfires may have robbed our community of properly celebrating Christmas in 2019, I’m so pleased that COVID-19 will NOT rob us of celebrating this year’s Christmas!

20.01.2022 This is a very well-deserved early Christmas present for everyone!

18.01.2022 A 1.7 kilometre section of Empire Bay Drive has been upgraded thanks to $2.8 million from the NSW Government. Every single local job counts right now... and this project provided 20! #GettingItDone

18.01.2022 Breaking news... the Central Coast’s Sport Complex at Tuggerah will benefit from an $11 million COVID-19 stimulus funding injection from the NSW Government! This will involve construction of a six-court multi-purpose indoor facility for sports like basketball, netball and futsal, as well as change rooms, amenities, storage, a canteen and catering space. The project is shovel-ready and 150 jobs will be created during construction... a much-needed boost at this difficult... time! Once completed, this Complex will be the Coast’s only facility that is capable of hosting regional and state-level events for multiple sports. #GettingItDone

18.01.2022 Today is the 14th consecutive day of ZERO community transmission in NSW. Well done everyone

17.01.2022 $10 MILLION SAVED BY CENTRAL COAST SENIORS A total of 40,987 Regional Seniors Travel Cards have been issued to Central Coast seniors this year. This is the equivalent of more than $10 million saved on travel costs!... The $250 pre-loaded Regional Seniors Travel Card can be used to purchase fuel, book taxi services or travel on NSW TrainLink trains and coaches. The eligibility criteria have also been expanded so that more seniors can access this cost of living relief. For more information, go to... www.service.nsw.gov.au/regionalseniorstravel.

17.01.2022 Earlier today, I moved a Notice of Motion in Parliament that calls for more support of Mountain Biking on the Central Coast. The full text of my Notice of Motion is below... Speaker,... I give notice of the following motion: That this House- 1. Notes that on 25 August, I met with Leif Arnebark and Adrian Main from Central Coast Mountain Bike Club to discuss opportunities for new trails and infrastructure, 2. Notes that on 7 September, I wrote to the Deputy Premier and the Minister for the Environment, seeking their support for new trails and infrastructure, 3. Calls on Central Coast Council to better support mountain biking, including by unlocking COSS lands for more use, and 4. Thanks the Member for Wyong for his support of this common-sense approach to mountain biking on the Central Coast.

16.01.2022 Today marks 99 days until 2021 begins. What a relief that 2020 is nearly over! This year has been incredibly tough for everyone. On the Central Coast we’ve lived through the triple whammy of bushfires... then flooding... and now COVID-19. Some people have lost jobs or had hours of work cut... and all of us have had to change the way we live.... I want to remind everyone that it’s ok to not be ok. Help is always on-hand. The NSW Mental Health Line is contactable 24/7 on 1800 011 511. And for the remaining 99 days of 2020... please remember to take care of yourself and those around you.

15.01.2022 Just in time for Christmas, as of Tuesday, December 1 the following restrictions will be eased: Up to 50 people (currently 20) can visit a residence as long as an outdoor space is being used, however, it’s recommended no more than 30 people gather if the residence has no outdoor area. Up to 50 people can gather outdoors in a public space (currently 30).... Small hospitality venues (up to 200 square metres in size) will be allowed to have one person per two square metres indoors.

15.01.2022 Cheap, reliable and renewable energy is coming to the Central Coast through new, ground-breaking legislation from the NSW Government. A Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) would create hundreds of new jobs and underpin our region’s future prosperity. Four out of five coal-fired power stations will come to the end of their operational life in the next 15 years, which is why the REZ provides a fantastic opportunity for the existing skilled workforce. ... Establishing the REZ is still a long way off... but we made a major step forward last night by receiving support from both sides of Parliament.

14.01.2022 Good news from the Health Minister... Santa Claus has received an exemption from the COVID-19 quarantine rules to make his Christmas Eve deliveries!

14.01.2022 A sad but necessary decision has been made to SHUT DOWN the Empire Bay Marina. This follows a number of significant safety hazards, pollution problems, structural faults in the Boatshed and encroachment onto nearby land over the past 2 years. Despite repeated notices, warnings and fines... the operator of Empire Bay Marina failed to address the problems.... Crown Lands staff have taken control of the site to quickly address the safety hazards. I am committed to working with our community to ensure the Marina site can be used in a safe and appropriate way in the future.

13.01.2022 Did you know that this month marks the 40th Birthday of Wyong Hospital? To ensure Wyong Hospital can look after our Central Coast community for another 40 years and beyond... the NSW Government is delivering a $200 million redevelopment of the Hospital facilities. Take a look at these fantastic drone pictures which show some of the latest construction work.... #GettingItDone

13.01.2022 Today marks the end of HSC exams! Congratulations to all Year 12 students on the Central Coast for making it through such a difficult year

13.01.2022 A new $1.3 million initiative to support Aboriginal people sleeping rough is coming to the Central Coast! The initiative will be led BY the local Aboriginal community FOR local Aboriginal people. This is not just about handing over the key to a property and walking away... the initiative also includes wrap-around essential support services to break the cycle of homelessness. ... This also builds on the NSW Government’s Together Home project, which has been operating on the Coast since July 1. Thank you to the Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services Gareth Ward for the $1.3 million in new funding. #GettingItDone

13.01.2022 Good morning and happy Monday to everyone on Facebook! Please SHARE these changes to COVID-19 restrictions and rules... Anyone who is directed to self-isolate for 14 days, and has run out of paid leave, is now eligible for a one-off payment of $1,500. ... Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced yesterday that this payment is now available for NSW residents. Private gatherings are currently limited to a maximum of 20 people, and every person who attends a gathering that breaks this rule will now receive a $1,000 fine. Previously, the fine applied to the organiser of the gathering only, but has now been extended to every person who attends. For more information, go to: www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19/what-you-can-and-cant-do-under-rules. We’re all in this together and we’ve done such a fantastic job on the Central Coast. Please continue following the COVID-19 restrictions and rules to help keep our community COVID-safe!

13.01.2022 NSW has 2 new COVID-19 cases today... and QLD also has 2 new cases. Despite the steady number of COVID-19 cases in NSW, the QLD Labor Government is keeping its borders shut to our State. The Central Coast has had zero new COVID-19 cases for several weeks now... but the QLD Labor Government still classifies our region as a hotspot!... I’ve had multiple people contact me and tell me they have missed family milestones like marriages, deaths, funerals and more because of this. We need the NSW-QLD border to open!

12.01.2022 Another local project being delivered by local workers! Today we’re celebrating the topping out of a 56-unit affordable housing development at West Gosford, which means it has reached its highest point. Gosford-based company North Construction & Building is employing over 100 local tradies to deliver this project. ... I’m looking forward to visiting again in 2021 when construction is completed and the first tenants can move in!

12.01.2022 Today is Dogs in Politics Day... so I want to share the story of our foster puppy Fitz. Fitz comes from a hoarder’s house where more than 100 dogs were detained. Jill and I were proud to support the Central Coast Animal Care Facility and become foster carers to Fitz on the 23rd of May (four months ago today).... Fitz is doing well but is very scarred by his time living in a hoarder’s house... an environment where he had no attention or care from humans. After four months of caring for Fitz, he is still very jumpy and scared of unknown sounds or movements. Jill and I have worked hard to build trust with Fitz... and last week, for the first time ever, he let us pat him! It’s a long road ahead but Jill and I are up for the challenge. I also have an enormous amount of admiration for Dee and the team at Central Coast Animal Care Facility. It’s an honour to be their Patron. And... I’m hoping that my days of being a foster carer can end soon and the days of being an adoptive parent to Fitz can begin!

12.01.2022 Minister for Planning Rob Stokes made a fantastic speech in Parliament yesterday after introducing the Warnervale Airport Repeal Bill. Here are some reasons why the NSW Government is repealing the Warnervale Airport Act... It will provide our community with certainty for Warnervale Airport's long-term future.... No other Airport in NSW has an Act of Parliament restricting what it can or cannot do. It will prevent the Labor and Greens-aligned Councillors from using the Warnervale Airport Act as an excuse for NOT addressing the catastrophic safety risk of overgrown trees at the edge of the runway. More than 75% of the community... an emphatic majority... support removing the Warnervale Airport Act. It will allow Central Coast Aero Club to train more pilots of the future. Many other local councils in NSW do a fantastic job of managing regional Airports, and Central Coast Council should be expected to do the same.

11.01.2022 It’s a hot one today... remember to stay hydrated, remain out of the sun and take care of others. Please also take care of your pets by making sure they have plenty of water! There will not be a cool change tonight... and tomorrow is predicted to bring another day of high temperatures.

11.01.2022 One of my highlights this week was to catch up with Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons and congratulate him on being awarded NSW Australian of the Year. Commissioner Fitzsimmons is a very humble man... but is also an incredible worker who has dedicated so many hours and days to keeping people in NSW safe!

11.01.2022 It’s just fantastic to see some of the new Affordable Housing being delivered across the Coast thanks to a $1 BILLION initiative from the NSW Government! 30 new studio apartments were completed at Canton Beach last month... with close access to shops, services and public transport. Well done to Pacific Link Housing for providing this Affordable Housing to people in need.

11.01.2022 Coming soon... a $100 voucher for every adult in NSW to spend at local cafes, restaurants, cinemas and tourism attractions! The $100 will be split into two $25 vouchers for food and two $25 vouchers for activities. These will provide a significant boost to local businesses when they become available in early 2021.

11.01.2022 What a fantastic view of the soon-to-be Ettalong roundabout! The Transport for NSW team who delivered the Kincumber roundabout are now upgrading this intersection of Maitland Bay Drive and Picnic Parade. Replacing the existing intersection with a roundabout is needed to cater for the future growth that our community will experience over the next few years and decades. #GettingItDone

10.01.2022 The NSW Budget was released today and its focus is on keeping people in jobs and keeping businesses in business! The NSW Budget also includes millions of dollars of NEW funding for our community... $100 worth of Out & About vouchers per adult to support local cafes, restaurants, tourism sites and cultural attractions...Continue reading

10.01.2022 I was delighted to witness Planning Minister Rob Stokes introduce the Warnervale Airport Repeal Bill to Parliament today. This delivers on our commitment to provide the community with certainty regarding the Airport’s future. #GettingItDone

10.01.2022 Happy 50th Birthday to our amazing Premier! I couldn’t give her a hug... so a COVID-safe elbow bump was the next best thing! During our weekly meeting earlier this morning, I surprised the Premier with a Gift Pack from the Central Coast’s own Lhami Organic Skincare. ... Throughout the drought, fires, floods and COVID-19 pandemic, Gladys Berejiklian’s leadership has been strong and steady. We are so fortunate to have a fantastic Premier... and I am honoured to be her Whip and also count her as a friend.

09.01.2022 A $2.8 million project to relocate the ET Australia School from its current site to two new locations in Gosford has been approved! This will increase student capacity from 170 to 280, create 40 new jobs and inject $2.8 million into the local economy.

08.01.2022 The COVID-safe guidelines for Year 12 School Formals have been released! This follows last week’s announcement that School Formals will be allowed to occur from November 12, which is when the HSC exams are scheduled to end. The COVID-safe guidelines suggest that...... Mingling before and after the event needs to be avoided. Private transport options to and from the event should be considered. Dancing is allowed but dancefloors should be outside, or in a well-ventilated space. Dancing with a partner from outside the school community is allowed only if the partner is from the same local area and would normally socialise with the student cohort. The four square metre rule must be followed at all times. Tables are restricted to 10 people each. Each student should bring their own pen for yearbook signing. Good hand hygiene practices must be followed and promoted. I remember my School Formal like it was yesterday... and am so pleased that our local students will be able to celebrate the end of their 13 years of schooling in the normal way!

08.01.2022 What a low blow... Early yesterday morning, firefighters were called to a vehicle fire near Charmhaven, only to discover it was one of their own vehicles that had been stolen and set alight. The man responsible is still on the run and Police are asking for people with any information to call CrimeStoppers. ... After everything our volunteer firefighters have done for our community... I am absolutely appalled that anyone would dare to break in to the Fire Control Centre, steal a vehicle, and set it alight.

07.01.2022 Erina Heights Public is such a fantastic school! It was my pleasure to introduce Education Minister Sarah Mitchell to some of the amazing teachers and students today.

07.01.2022 The Central Coast can feel better protected after the official handover of four new fire trucks for Ourimbah Rural Fire Brigade, Wadalba Rural Fire Brigade, Awaba Rural Fire Brigade and Killcare Wagstaffe RFB. It was fantastic to be joined by Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott MP and representatives from each brigade receiving a truck. These new tankers are collectively worth more than $720,000 which will enable these brigades to strengthen th...eir firefighting efforts across our community. These men and women remain on-hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week. I am extremity proud and grateful for their contribution to our community.

07.01.2022 Who’s the most remarkable woman in your life? It could be a role model for younger generations, an unsung hero in our community, or someone who inspires you... Nominations are being accepted NOW for the 2021 Woman of the Year Awards.... We’ve been faced by the triple whammy of bushfire, flood and COVID-19... but it’s still important to recognise remarkable and inspirational people in our community. There are 7 different categories for the 2021 Woman of the Year Awards. They include Premier’s Award for Woman of the Year, Woman of Excellence, Community Hero, Young Woman of the Year, Regional Woman of the Year, Aboriginal Woman of the Year, and the One To Watch Award. To nominate someone, go to www.women.nsw.gov.au.

05.01.2022 Are you prepared for a bushfire near your suburb? This weekend is the annual Get Ready Weekend and the NSW RFS is urging everyone to... Reduce the bushfire risk around your home, and... Have a Bushfire Survival Plan prepared. Our local firies will also host a number of COVID-safe events to help people get ready for bushfire season. Go to www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/GetReady to find an event near you.

05.01.2022 I’m in Long Jetty with the Minister for Families, Communities and Disability Services Gareth Ward today to check out some of the 157 new Social Housing homes being delivered across the Coast! #GettingItDone

05.01.2022 And that’s a wrap for 2020! The Parliamentary year may have finished but there’s always more to do for the Central Coast! #GettingItDone

05.01.2022 Here are some photos of the exciting progress being made on the Terrigal Boardwalk! #GettingItDone

04.01.2022 Did you know the Central Coast has its very own Pearl Farm right in Brisbane Waters Adam Marshall MP and I had the opportunity to visit Pearls of Australia Oyster Punt and see Broken Bay Pearl Farm, pearl seeding operations in full swing. It was a fascinating tour lead by owner, James Brown, and I would highly recommend the experience to anyone visiting the area.

04.01.2022 The number of COVID-19 tests on the Central Coast has DROPPED by 45% over the last few weeks. Higher rates of testing are vital... it’s the only way our health experts can ensure that there is not undetected community transmission of COVID-19. With the weather warming up and more people travelling during the School Holidays, COVID-19 testing is more important than ever!... If you have even the mildest symptoms like a scratchy throat, cough, runny nose or fever... you must get tested immediately.

04.01.2022 Breaking news from Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock MP... The NSW Government has granted $992,501 to Central Coast Council for the emergency works at Wamberal Beach. This included placing around 4,000 tonnes of sand, 2,300 tonnes of quarried rock and 1,100 tonnes of rock-filled flexible bags on the beach.... Council has been provided this funding on a 1 to 1 basis. For every dollar Council contributes, the NSW Government will also contribute. Our focus now turns to developing a long-term solution. While Council is the statutory authority for Wamberal Beach, the NSW Government is helping with the urgent need to plan and implement a long-term solution.

04.01.2022 SEVEN months ago, Melinda Pavey and I announced that Central Coast Council would receive $600,000 to dredge The Entrance Channel. I am pleased to confirm that dredging is finally beginning THIS WEEK... though it is disappointing this has taken so long. Dredging is a short-term fix and it is vital that Council develops a long-term management plan for The Entrance Channel.... Having witnessed the significant flooding in Tuggerah Lake earlier this year, we all know how important dredging is for the safety of thousands of homeowners.

04.01.2022 Yesterday marked the beginning of a $15.3 million housing development in Beane Street, Gosford. The development includes 41 one or two bedroom affordable housing units. The NSW Government was able to fast-track this project, which will create 77 jobs, to help our economy recover from COVID-19.

03.01.2022 Another project is being fast-tracked to help the Central Coast economy recover from COVID-19! The ET Australia School has been asked to move out and make way for Council’s new Library... so the School is using this as an opportunity to develop 2 new campuses. If the project is approved, it will provide 40 new jobs and boost the Central Coast economy by $2.8 million. ... These 2 new campuses will also allow the ET Australia School to support 110 additional students and 14 staff. Fast-tracking this project means that Planning Approval will be determined within the next 4 weeks.

03.01.2022 The red and yellow flags went up for the first time yesterday and it’s fantastic to have lifesavers back on our beaches! Don’t forget to stay COVID-safe when visiting the beach... the easiest way to do this is by keeping a towel length between yourself and others. It’s fantastic to see the team at MacMasters Beach SLSC practicing what social distancing should look like!

02.01.2022 It has been a big week of work in Parliament... but my drive home to the Central Coast is all the better thanks to NorthConnex! #GettingItDone

02.01.2022 Sandstone islands shaped as sea creatures are being built in the tidal pool at Leagues Club Field... and they look fantastic! As the water rises and falls, these sea creature design will swim in from Brisbane Water. The constantly changing tide also means that the tidal pool will look slightly different every time you visit.... We’re looking forward to opening Leagues Club Field as soon as construction is completed!

02.01.2022 BREAKING NEWS... COVID-19 restrictions for Community Sport, Schools and Weddings are being updated! From this weekend onwards, two adults per child are allowed to attend Community Sport matches. But please remember to practice social distancing at all times! From the beginning of Term 4, school sport, inter-school sport and zone competitions will return to operating in the normal pre-COVID way!... Parents will be allowed to visit schools in the normal pre-COVID way for activities like reading groups and garden lessons. Year 6 Formals and Graduations are permitted. Playing wind instruments, singing and chanting activities in a School setting are permitted but with strict conditions. School Assemblies and Presentation Days will be allowed to proceed in Term 4. Orientation Days for Year 7 and Kindergarten classes will be allowed to take place in Term 4. Churches can now have choirs or groups of up to 5 people singing together. This decision has been made because activities like singing can cause COVID-19 to spread more easily. Weddings are permitted to have 150 guests if they are held at a place of worship... and up to 20 people will now be allowed to dance. This decision has been made because events like weddings still have the potential to be COVID-19 super spreaders. With the School Holidays beginning shortly, please remember to GET TESTED if you have even the mildest symptoms like a scratchy throat, cough, runny nose or fever.

02.01.2022 Thanks to Central Coast Aero Club for this fantastic photo! Only a couple of months of construction to go until the Terrigal Boardwalk officially opens. #GettingItDone

02.01.2022 As the weather warms up, and keen fishos flock to the Central Coast’s iconic beaches and waterways, those wetting a line are encouraged to abide by the rules to ensure an enjoyable and sustainable summer of fishing. Thank you to NSW DPI Fisheries for taking both myself and Adam Marshall MP out to patrol off Terrigal Haven this morning. I encourage all fishos right up and down NSW to remember to renew their fishing licence and while you’re out and about to check the rules that apply in the area you plan to fish, by using the new #FishSmartNSW App or the NSW DPI website.

01.01.2022 I’ve been an MP for the past five and a half years now, and earlier this week, I was proud to deliver my 600th speech in Parliament. #GettingItDone

01.01.2022 I was sent these photos of the Terrigal Boardwalk on Friday and don’t they look fantastic! Now that the concrete planks have been constructed, the hardwood decking boards are being installed. A disability-accessible ramp to the new Rock Pool is also being built.... Unfortunately COVID-19 has delayed the delivery of stainless steel fixtures from overseas, but the construction team is working to finish this project as quickly as possible.
