24.01.2022 I’ve been playing around in this tuning (CGDGBE) for a while now and am really loving the flow of this melody. Still shuffling some riffs around but this is lovely to play and I’m happy with how it’s progressing. Let me know what you think.
24.01.2022 Dadirri: deep listening, arriving to a place of stillness with respect and reverence for all that surrounds us. This is a practice held by the indigenous peoples of Australia and other indigenous cultures throughout the world. In times like these, amidst confusion, fear, misinformation and radical opinion, I encourage the practice of Dadirri. If Aboriginal people can survive 60,000 years of immunity to virus, perhaps we could do well to reconnect to the wisdom and ways inh...erent within their traditions. We need to slow way down. We need to connect. With our hearts, each other and nature. Do whatever is needed to keep yourself and each other healthy and safe. But practise Dadirri. Listen to the wind. Watch nature. Put your feet in a creek, or just stand in your back yard. Watch the sky, for in nature it only takes simple observation and stillness to know what perfection and harmony look like. Smoking ceremony is held in fire, it teaches us our connections. We must unpack the stories around the fire and stay there until the layers of all our old wood are burned off. If we fight it, we become depressed, we stay too long in the fire, we can get burnt - this is what I learnt from Aunty Peggy, a Gunggari Elder. 21.01.2022 I write this for you, I write this for me. This race is broken, that I can see, yet my heart beats strong and yearns to be free, amidst this confusion a path do I see. There is a place where no signal exists, no wifi or check-ins, updates nor likes. ... A place where if you stand still you’ll notice that you are on earth that is turning and yearning to heal. Heal all the fractures of traumas past. Heal all the wounds of abuse and at last, Illuminate the way back to our hearts, the path that has been lost to the modern traits of winning at all costs and measuring success by money and status. Playing a game that make them hate us. The way that was lost is one of ancestral wisdom, of ancient flowing and indigenous knowing. Of truth and honor and reverence and respect, For self and others, the collective and all that exist on this earth that is turning. She is yearning and calling for us all to wake up. Yet we still sleep. She is yelling and pushing for our sovereignty to emerge. Yet we still deny the truth of this existential crisis. She is now giving her final warning... erupting through the elements with a burning heart and tears that flood the terrain in anguish. What will it take to wake up, Is the call of our mother not enough? It is she who cries at the threat of our extinction, It is she who speaks to us of the only thing that can save us; To cease walking in the direction of destruction, And commence healing our traumatic past, Ours stories of abuse and shame and guilt. And come to the place where we see the importance at last, Of a world that exists true and free, a world that is an extension of you and of me, all healed and whole, in love and free A world that is seen for the infinite complexity of the greatest intelligence that brought us to life. Worthy of acceptance, love and connection. To practice Sovereignty when you are a minority is a challenge. It’s a struggle to hold your own power, to find your own voice in a layers of systems that are built to oppress you. Especially if you come from a long line of people that have been silenced, ignored or discarded because of the colour of their skin, their gender or had destructive and toxic childhoods. However, despite of this, I am taking up the challenge. This is my voice. This is my story. This is my truth. I call upon the strength of my ancestors, my eagle spirit guide, and every single human being that has passed positive energy into my life now to hold me up while I offer it forward 2 more days until my debut single drops on March 13. 01.01.2022 Creative Process: Most of the symmetry art that I create has 2 distinct processes. The first is capturing the image. I am often looking for environments/landscapes that I intuitively feel have some element or aspect of interest. I like working with still water as this provides an immediate and natural reflection or mirror. But sometimes there is a specific shape or texture that I’m drawn to that I feel will reveal interesting results. Once the image has been captured, a lot ...of time is spent in post manipulating the image, generally by making a selection of up to half of the image, then flipping it to mirror itself. There are so many variations that come from this process, and it can be quite hard to select which version I like most. I’ll often create 2 or more images from the original. These 4 images reflect this process.
