24.01.2022 As a result of our July flood, we are required to complete some floor and drainage restorations over the next fortnight, therefore the centre will be closed. To contact us over this period, please email [email protected] or for urgent inquiries you may contact our mobile on 0491 313 046 to speak with Director Kate.

23.01.2022 Thanks to all our families for their understanding and support of our closure today and to our team for their work in cleaning up ready for tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing everyone back then! Keep those fingers crossed for very little rain overnight!

21.01.2022 Our philosophy encompasses our deep belief in the image of the child as competent and capable of making and being part of decisions that affect them. Our wonderful Educator Rachael incorporated this understanding of our children when she consulted with her Toddlers to create beautiful, aesthetic and meaningful covers for our children's "special books". These special books are our children's own journals of learning and allows them to showcase who they are in their own unique way.

21.01.2022 THE UNIQUENESS OF EVERY FAMILY... Our preschool group have been exploring concepts of uniqueness in a project called Becoming a Worldly Citizen. In light of COVID and previously having so many Stay at Home Families, we engaged a task for our families to support dialogue with their children about what makes them unique as they created their own photo frame using nature which also encompassed the connectedness to ACELP and it’s strong philosophical beliefs in nature based play. We were delighted by the diversity of each frame which is proudly displayed in our room. Embedding a culturally safe space where diversity is immersed in and bias is challenged will grow a generation of respectful citizens. Thank you those families who have shared these with us. @ Adamstown Community Early Learning and Preschool

20.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the large amount of rain yesterday and despite our best efforts to sandbag early in the day, the centre has flooded. We are working hard to clean up and assess damage today in hope to reopen as soon as possible. We shall be in touch with families effected personally. For more information please contact our Service Director Kate on 0491 313 046.

19.01.2022 Today is NATIONAL SORRY DAY and provokes conversations with children about reconciliation and the Stolen Generation. By supporting our young generation to have empathy and understanding for Australia’s history will help our Aboriginal and Torres Strait community in their healing process. Engaging in dialogue through stories such as the beaut story ‘Sorry Day’ builds Connections for children to understand the world around them.

18.01.2022 WE ARE READY TO RE OPEN TOMORROW- Monday 31st August 2020. After a fortnight of blood, sweat and tears, we have made it!!!(almost... with the exception of new sinks in each room, which got delivered to the wrong address on Friday ) Over the two weeks we have managed to remove and dry the internal floors and replace with new vinyl flooring thanks to @steamaticrestoration_cleaning and Bilpine Flooring. We also reinstated our existing drainage, beefing up a few areas and add...ing some additional strip drains and pipes in consultation with NCC and several plumbing specialists. Our amazing outdoor design team worked within tight timeframes to redesign the landscape of the bottom preschool playground to better support our drainage pits. Huge thanks to Alex Barnett our landscaper and his team, working alongside AJ Andoni Builders and the guys at Australian Playground Solutions! We even managed to get our beautiful original concrete tunnel refurbished to look like new again thanks to Concrete Renderer Daniel. Finally big thanks to our ACELP staff team who worked so hard on Friday to reset our learning spaces ready for our children and families tomorrow! (Photos to come once our sinks are installed on Tuesday!) Thanks again to our wonderful families for their ongoing support and understanding during these tough few weeks! @ Adamstown Community Early Learning and Preschool See more

18.01.2022 Through the Preschool Project on Becoming Worldly Citizens the children have recently been delving into the Chinese culture and their traditions around yum cha. The children spent the day preparing ingredients, parcelling their pork dumplings and sharing in some social chatter as they waited for them to steam on the outdoor gas cooker. It was beautiful to watch the educators amongst children co researching traditional recipes and ways of parcelling to enrich this experience and expand children’s knowledge of this culture. Very much enjoyed by all! @ Adamstown Community Early Learning and Preschool

18.01.2022 Our creative thinkers experimented with FRICTION using a hammer and rock. Their plan has emerged over days of exploration as they have trialled different rocks and hammers in different weather, from wet to dry. Their initial aim was hitting the rocks however following the first spark it quickly moved to the idea of creating their own fire bowl. These connections between our Flint work and the rock and hammer method to gain a spark as well as many trial and error experiments has proven our competent preschoolers are naturalistic researchers... always looking for answers!

17.01.2022 In January we held our Educators Professional Learning days. These days are dedicated to promote professional discussions, team building and incorporate professional and critical learning for the year ahead. Additionally, our Educators follow core Team Values that are embedded throughout our service and is evident in all interactions between ourselves and our families and children. As part of promoting these core team values we had our wonderful Educator Tiffany design and ru...n a teamwork exercise to build confidence in each other, promote team communication and have a little fun at the same time. Tiffany organised two teams to race each other to put our cargo net up as quickly as possible. With many laughs, wonderful communication and team spirit the leadership experience for Tiffany, and teamwork experience for our fellow educators was a huge success! Well done team, keep up the amazing work! See more

16.01.2022 ACELP are looking for 3 motivated individuals who are excited to learn from a knowledgeable and experienced team and gain their qualification in early education and care whilst working! Apply below or share with friends who may be interested!

15.01.2022 WE LOVE WINTER AS IT MEANS REGULAR FIREWORK and HOT CHOCCIES! Today we grouped as an entire centre and worked through our processes of firework with the children, from setting up our safety measures to building and lighting the fire with the flint and then warming our coco on the fire! Of course marshmallows were a must and enjoyed by all. These moments not only support the ongoing development of risk competence in the regular implementation of fire but allow time for social engagement amongst the mixed ages and siblings! @ Adamstown Community Early Learning and Preschool

15.01.2022 Curiosity and Questioning - Children have a deep internal motivation towards exploring and experimenting with their world. Discovering the "why" of how things work is an integral part of children's learning. In our Nursery space, our Educators work collaboratively with the children to provide them with experiences and resources that expand their thinking, allow the children to make hypotheses, question and experiment with the world around them.

13.01.2022 A HUGE Happy Early Childhood Educators Day to the fabulous team at ACELP! Our dedicated educators are acknowledged for their commitment to providing quality education and care to our children particularly in a tough year such as 2020, where as essential workers, they stayed on the frontline to ensure that families who needed it most were able to access our service during COVID restrictions. They love what they do which drives their motivation to be better everyday and this is reflected in our positive culture, connectedness and unity as a team. On behalf of our ACELP community, we sincerely thank you for everything you do!

11.01.2022 During our January professional learning days we gave our educators a challenge. The aim of this challenge was to incorporate aspects of "Teachers as Researchers" as well as promoting the "image of the child" whilst embedding aspects of indigenous culture into our individual learning spaces. Our wonderful educators took on this challenge remarkably and the resultant learning spaces were astounding, thought provoking, inspired and well-researched. Well done again team!

05.01.2022 A beautifully inviting space upon entrance to our service to share the oversupply of herbs from our gardens amongst family and friends...

03.01.2022 We have been neglecting our socials a little of late however as our Director Kate is on holidays at the snow, she thought she’d share some reflections of some ADULT PERCEPTION OF THE TODDLER. On arrival to hire skis, the fitter said I wouldn’t really worry about the little one they can’t generally ski at that age. After insisting, we got them ‘thrown in’. An instructor of ski school said he’s tiny, I don’t think he’ll understand. Well our little COMPETENT and CAPABLE (ACE...LP Member) at just 2 years old, rocked the carpet at Charlotte Pass and had many heads turning. He started to begin understanding the concept of the snow plough in order to control his speed and direction. He was able to recognise when he went too fast showing his growing risk perception, awareness and competence. How do you support the rights of the competent child?? See more

01.01.2022 NATURAL ELEMENTS... such as sand, dirt and water are accessible and economical mediums which create a basis for provocative and curious play. How do these elements support your curriculum? @ Adamstown Community Early Learning and Preschool
