25.01.2022 Miso doing an awesome job of keeping himself under threshold today around unknown dogs Miso and his owner are making progress each session, their sessions are requiring less additional input from me as they are working through the process more independently which is awesome to see #goldenboy #confidence

24.01.2022 - Miso is a sweet boy who lacks confidence with other dogs, unfortunately this has been compounded by some run ins with off leash dogs and has manifested in some reactivity on leash We have been working on developing Miso’s understanding of exactly where he needs to be when on lead as well as his owners confidence when handling him in public places... He’s progressing really nicely so far, looking forward to seeing this team continue to work!

23.01.2022 ! This morning I did a lesson with this little cutie. Doonamus is 5 months old and starting to experiment with some new behaviours, learning she can have success by turning off her ears when she feels like it. 22.01.2022 , the Great Dane X Gus is about 6 months old, he is currently in foster care and looking for his forever home. His foster carer has been extremely dedicated to developing his training and preparing him prior to him moving into his new home. Gus is well mannered with other animals and is used to living with both dogs and cats. He is also crate trained and house trained. ... He can be shy when meeting new people and takes time to develop his confidence around people he doesn’t know. However he is social and affectionate once you have earn his trust Gus has been learning some new skills to help him better navigate introductions to new people and I see improvement with each session we do The ideal owner for Gus would be someone that is interested in participating in ongoing training to continue to build his confidence and may already have a mature, well balanced dog to help show him the ways of the world. I am offering an in home lesson to Gus's new owner free of charge to assist in providing a smooth transition into his new home. , .

21.01.2022 Days like this is what it’s all about! I had the privilege this past weekend to help out with Gus’s transition into a new home Gus’s foster carer has been working hard to build his confidence to prepare him to find his forever home... I’ll be catching up with his new owners again in the near future to help continue to progress his training I’m so grateful to all those that have been invested in this dog up until now and into the future. He’s an absolute sweetheart and deserves to have good people in his corner!

20.01.2022 Quinn has been learning to search for her toy, later I will transfer this skill over to nose work and ask her to search for a specific odour . In this video, the toy is is hidden in the wheel arch of the white van, a difficult spot for her because of its height (most other hides have been at ground level) . I’m happy to see that she is clearly using her nose (and not just her eyes) to search for her toy, this is evident in her behaviour ... . Towards the end, after coming up empty handed she is a little confused. She looks to me for direction and I wait her out, I’m confident she will go back to searching and I don’t want to create problems later by intervening now . It’s exciting to see her start to click with this one, she’s a hard little worker! See more

20.01.2022 & These 2 staffies have recently been taken on by their new home through rescue They have gone through a disruptive period prior to ending up in their new home and have been showing some separation related behaviours when left alone, which their new owners wanted to get on top of right away ... We also began setting some foundations for their understanding of leash manners for the walk, which we will progress in the next session These two have truely fallen on their feet as they have come into a loving home, committed to helping them build confidence and understand how to operate in the big wide world

19.01.2022 Diesel during his lesson this week, working on developing his sit stay in a new environment During this session we worked on encouraging Diesel to check in regularly when being given more freedom, continuing to build a reflexive response to his recall cue and building duration into his sit stay. Diesel loves the game of tug! This is a great reward so we spent some time developing the rules of the game. ... We then used this game to work on building reliability to his recall around distraction and impulse control in his sit This guy is a clever puppy! Can’t wait to see him continue to progress

Today in puppy class with The Good Dog Project we used the lawn mower in a structured socialisation exercise designed to build confidence and/or impulse control around machinery All the puppies did a great job tackling the exercise!

17.01.2022 Got to get out in the sunny weather this week to spend a second lesson with Shiloh the shy Kelpie Shiloh has recently come into her new home. She is lacking in confidence and unsure of new environments Being a smart dog, we are teaching Shiloh some foundation behaviours to hell her understand the big bad world she is now learning to explore... Our focus this week was on teaching her how to respond to leash pressure and her owners direction changes when on leash and introducing the concept of position changes using a lure. We also spent some time building her confidence to enter her crate as this tool will be helpful for management in the future Can’t wait time keep working with this girl!

As such, it’s vital to ensure he is having wide and varied experiences to show him what to expect when venturing out into the big wide world In this video, Diesel’s owner is helping him explore a new environment. Balancing building value for herself in a new place while encouraging him to explore the world around him ... On this day it had been raining, which adds a new element to the environment. Variations in weather are often overlooked when socialising young puppies, so be proactive to expose your puppies to wet, windy and warm days. As always, our aim with this session is to ensure Diesel has a positive experience and that he gains confidence from exploring his environment It’s important to work at your dogs pace when building confidence, finding new experiences for them to participate in at an intensity level where we can ensure they walk away feeling good about what they achieved

05.01.2022 Bear is currently enrolled in with The Good Dog Project In this video, Bear is working on increasing duration in his sit exercise by value adding while he holds position To ensure Bear has clarity in his understanding, two different marker cues are used to tell him when he will be rewarded in position and when he is allowed out of position for reward... This exercise is being developed in preparation for more difficult impulse control exercises in the future. What a great start!
