06.01.2022 DIY ALOE GEL With summer just around the corner, it’s time to start prepping to protect you and your skin against the damaging Australian sun. Here’s a DIY recipe if you get sunburnt after a day out at the beach! All you’ll need are some fresh aloe vera leaves if you don’t have this already, you can pop down to your local plant shop and buy one. Aloe vera plants grow incredibly fast.... Cut a leaf from your plant from the base and wash it well to remove dirt, then stand it upright in a cup or a bowl (10-15 mins) to let the yellow-tinted resin drain out of the leaf (this resin has latex which can be irritating to your skin). Once the resin has drained, rewash the leaf to rinse the remains of the resin off and peel off the skin of the leaf using a knife or a vegetable peeler. Once the skin is off, scoop the gel out of the leaf with a spoon into a blender - make sure there’s no aloe vera skin! Blend your aloe vera until it’s frothy and liquefied. Apply to affected area and enjoy the relief. You can keep this gel for about one-week and don’t forget to keep it in the fridge while you’re not using it! PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma, and PRF stands for Platelet Rich Fibrin - these are both platelet concentrated that come from a patient’s own blood. ... The main difference between the two treatments is that Platelet Rich Plasma has an anticoagulant mixed in with the concentrated platelets. Blood from the patient is centrifuged at high speed, which lets the blood separate into layers. PRP layers are two distinctive layers - red, white and stem cells at the bottom and platelet and plasma at the top. PRF layers are less distinct, which allows white cells, stem cells and growth factors as well as platelets to be collected from the tube without the anticoagulant additive.
