21.01.2022 On the 11th of November we also remember Catherine McAuley, founder of the Sisters of Mercy who passed away on this day in Dublin 1841. The rich legacy of Catherine's life, work and dreams for a more just and peaceful society continues all around the world through the Mercy network. At @addertonbrisbane, as we move towards re-opening we are reminded of Catherine's wisdom, "Let us take one day only in hand, at a time, merely making a resolve for tomorrow, thus we may hope to get on taking short, careful steps." 21.01.2022 Meet Tom in @addertonbrisbane 'Meet me in the middle' streamed video conversation on Saturday 17th October at 5pm. Tom is sharing his story, during Queensland Mental Health Week, as a Veteran and PTSD survivor. Tom encourages other men, who may sometimes find it hard to talk about their feelings, how worthwhile it is to ask for help. Tom tells us about how connecting with and training Zeus, a rescue dog, has probably helped him even more than it helped Zeus.... Through Tom's connection with @happypawshappyheartsfoundation he is able to contribute in a new way to helping others. Look out for the streamed story on Facebook Live on Saturday 17 October at 5pm. 20.01.2022 Catherine McAuley, Foundress of the Sisters of Mercy was born on this day in 1778 in Ireland. We remember Catherine on her birthday and every day for her selfless commitment to practical action to support the vulnerable and those in need. At a time when women were not represented in decision making. Catherine McAuley was able to impact and make systemic generational change through education, health and social welfare. This work continues today through a Mercy network of peop...le and organisations that flourishes all around the world.
